The battery grip helps you take better pictures horizontally as oppose to holding it from the side where you could drop if definately. Gives you more battery life if you buy that extra battery. its worth it
its basically an adapter that allows you to take pictures with the camera to the side. you can take pictures like that without it, but with it it makes it easier and its more efficient.
I have a question. In the picture of the camera when the video is at 17 seconds the camera body looks bigger like it has an add on at the bottom of the body. Would you mind telling me what that is? Thanks

And to improve the battery time. (can use two batteries) The extra shutter button comes more as a bonus:)
