  • It's actually just not the head. It's the whole drivetrain. You need it to run extra cam and gears. So it's also a block. That you need for the head.

  • 0:31. BLACKBIRD!!!!!!!

  • @leedaocheng Actually, with everything that went into this car, if you were to have a shop do it for you, it would probably cost you about the same, lol

  • l28 sounds fantastic who needs v8's

  • OS Giken is going to make a few more of these heads this year. I couldn't find a price but I heard they are all spoken for.

  • @grimheathen 30k

  • @vtecboi18 That's insanity, but then again, what isn't?

  • @Ryoukun16 lol i know right

  • @grimheathen no they aren't

  • That head! D: *drool*

  • @280z1 thats what she said...

  • @celicaGTST I'm talkin about the OS Giken head, idk what your talking about. If your gonna say somthing that makes no sense then just shut your mouth.

  • does anyone know a link for a s40z with a r32 tt engine?

  • I would sell my right nut for that head.

  • @thebluemaggot shit i would give mine just to drive it

  • @ghettobraden I would eat the still beating heart of my first born child for that head.

  • I want that head.

  • 4:30-4:40 all i can hear in my head "be jealous, be jealous, be jealous" hahaha i want one =(

  • @LGHNGMN lol all i can hear in my head is "you idiot get a job and fix yours" lol i think all i need is a new fuel pump and new carbies

  • @LGHNGMN lol all i can hear in my head is "you idiot get a job and fix yours" lol i think all i need is a new fuel pump and new carbies..

  • why are they double clutching?

  • the OS Giken head is beast combine the displacement of the stock block with the DOHC OS Giken head and you have a motor that i dare say is better then the S20. im really torn between the 432 and the OS Giken head.

  • @PirateKing666 screw the S20, go OS giken. Picture a kameari 3.1L L28DTT with triple mikuni's. If your looking at build ability L28 any day. Until the late 80's the L28 was the most build able engine in japan since the early 70s. if your looking at nostalgia S20 is cool, but IMO i feel its more of a hakosuka motor and the sound of a stroker L28 is such god.

  • @takulovesanime i totally agree l28 is beast and l28 + os giken head is god beast but the original 432 had an s20 and this s30 is def 432 inspired so an s20 is only natural but the S20 is the only motor for the hakosuka. also id rather have a kpcg then a s30 but thats just me.

  • that thing revs like a beast!!!

  • For more Information about the history about this head and how Tomitaku got his hands on one, speedhunters did an article about it.

  • This is too all who have any questions about this car. This is Tomitaku's 240z, this is not a 240zg or a 432 fairlady z. This car still has the original L24 in it but has been heavily modified obviously. This motor originally came with a SOHC head but OS Giken of Japan produced 9 DOHC heads back in the 70s for the L24 for race application, hence the 24 in TC24-B1.. The engine also has triple Mikuni Solex carburetors which each has 2 44mm intakes. This 240z makes roughly 350hp.

  • lol that dyno is awesome

  • @Euphorica And just think about it, this is the l24 the smallest of the 6cyl l series and it makes ~350hp. Thats mad nuts for these engines considering 300+ takes a serious proffesional to achieve in a L28 3.1 stroker.

  • when this beauty is revving nobody cares about the porsche 911, that is just awesome

  • one of the best S30Z's I've ever seen.....WOW!!!

  • @SicCreations It literally is the best. Only 9 of those heads exist in the world.

  • 外人のコメばっか

    OSのTC24ヘッドなんて忘れ去られてるのかね

    まともに動かすのタイヘンだろうな

  • theres a hole on my pants.

  • It revs so fast the tach can't keep up!

  • 近所のおじいちゃん、おばあちゃんが腰ぬかしそう・・・

  • thats super mega ultra solid!!! if i see tat z in life i will pay it the up most respect!!

  • 6 cyls, 5 stars, 4 valve, 3 webbers, 2 ohc and 1 hot peice of work!

    FTW!

  • Might be the best sounding 6 cylinder I've ever heard, and one of the best intake noises EVER!!!

  • @SoberGargamel I want to agree with you because this is awesome! But check out TVRs. The TVR Tuscan S has the most beautiful inline 6 sound imo.

  • @SoberGargamel 44mm intake for each cylinder. Thats huge. i love that noise!

  • やっぱりS30は最高だな。

  • Lovely sound! Absolutely lovely, however it does appear to be quite the hassle to drive, lots of throttle input, etc...

  • Is it a orange version of the devil z???? xDDD

  • @karlosrolero more like blue devil's evil twin sister ;P

  • @karlosrolero more like blue devil's evil twin sister.

  • z432, 4 valves per cylinder, 3 weber carbs, 2 ohc ftw!

  • @idriveforeign No, L24 with OS giken head, only 9 exist. Z432 had a S20 which is a 2.0L inline 6 dohc. Mikuni solexs too not webers, Japanese version.

  • great job sounds sick

  • O_O the DEVIL Z !!!!... this guy has done ahell of alot of work to this car

  • 0:30 the best sound, in the universe.

  • yep, truly is the devil.

  • man!! this is gorgeous <3

  • ahhhh...forget the turbo...NA's sound beautiful

  • As much as I love this thing, they have some tuning issues to resolve, they have overchoked the carbs alot, 1:06-1:11 case and point. Get that right, and the torque band will be perfect.

  • NA is best

  • @Marcmannugget The top of motorsport is NA !

  • @barthoedemaker for sure....even if i drive boosted cars, ive never been able to kick the addiction of a well rounded NA built car...too sexy.

  • hot.

  • love at first sight..!

  • what it means this number plates with the red stripe by the Fairlady ?

  • means your a fucking badass

  • the registration is not valid

  • mmmm nice! thatswhy I am putting a RB20 out of my ceff into my 260... but it will never sound like that :)

  • Damn. I <3 this Datsun. Datsun FTW!

  • Badass Inline 6.

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone think a set of those Rotta RB R wheals would look good on my S130 Fairlady Z?

  • No, save your penies and buy genuine watanabe r-type 16x8.5-6 and16x9.5-19. Perfect with Zg flares.

  • hmm... i know OSgiken is a great company and that the engine is the shit, but in reality i would never spend my money on that engine i think is a waste of money. plus all this engine does is gives you bragging rights. i can get more performance out of any of this swaps: sr20det, rb25, 1jz, 2jz or even better an rb26dett. with an uprated turbo/higher boost and good tuning i will get more performance, plus unmatched after market support.

  • I don't think the Office Tomikaku looks for swapping or cheaper use.

Rather perfectly matched, original cars that take your breath away with a simple stare, and make you re-live the best years of your life...

Tuning a car is a work of skill. Restoring a jewel is a work of art.

    And it's obvious that you'll get more with an RB26 or a 2JZ, since they're turbocharged mills ! ;-)

  • i understand your point wen it comes to a restore project, but the OSgiken motor isn't an OEM part. if restoring to the original is the goal the building then the l24 is the way to go. if getting the most performance out of the factory motor is the goal then i would go with the l28 turbo. but if performance is name of the game then there is no doubt that the rb or jz is the way to go. btw you cant use the OSgiken motor in competition.

  • What I meant was that putting a Skyline or Supra's engine doesn't seem to be their goal.

From what I saw on their website, they keep a line of work, respecting a model's field. Good thing in my opinion.

And this Z seems to be a "remix" version of the almighty 432(-R), that borrowed the PRINCE R380's S20 mill.

To finish, I think OS Giken's purpose is : FUN. And for that, no (necessarily) need for performance. Just look at the drivers' faces and way of speaking once they get off the car !!!

    ;-)

  • right on man..........it's the nostalgia of it all in such a classic that you strive to hit. Nothing to do with $/performance what so ever at all.

Nostalgia + bragging rights..........what else could you ask for.

  • All very true, But none of those will ever ever sound as good as the L series straight six. Owning an NA RB30 i love the sound but the L Series is a whole different ball game. If your talking about NA Nissan Stright Sixes the L-series as a base is currently the most superior.

  • yes,but they are not using an L series engine they are using the OSgiken engine. it is an after market dohc made specifically for racing. my point is that the engine alone cost around 11k and for that kind of money i rather get rb or jz series engine. do u understand now. if they waned to keep it oem they would use the original engine like nissan did back in the day. and again the OsGiken motor cant not be used for competition.

  • Sorry I missed this reply. That is an l series motor. It's just using an os giken head. Same bottom end. Whether it's a 2.4 2.6 2.8 or some bigger stroker (3.1 in some cases) is anyones guess.

  • icefreet, the engine is L series, the head is custom made by OSgiken though :)

  • ok i know what the engine is, i am well familiar with the company. but the ORIGINAL engine was a L6 SOHC not an L6 DOHC. which means its not the original engine. now IF I was going to upgrade to a DOHC engine I rather use an RB,SR, or A 2JZ. more modern engines that have greater after market support and has a wide range of options for specs. the car is still awesome regardless, but i would have gone with a different setup.

  • I know the engine is original, but it`s still a L engine no matter what it`s modification and thats a fact you can`t escape. My previous apartment host owns a S30Z 1970` with RB26DETT, having constant problems with drivetrain, if you are going to use a RB or JZ be prepared to pay atleast 2 grand usd for such an engine with all wiring looms, ecu, turbo`s, etc so my opinion is that the L series is the better engine for the Z`s :)

  • i dont know what ur talking about because i know 2ppl that have rb's swaps and never had problems with their drive-train. 1 was running a stock 280z lsd with an rb25 n the other was running a 300 lsd n never had a problem either. the 300 pumpkin needed some customization. btw the 300tt transmission bolts to the rb25. so if u have an rb26 u can just find a 300 tranny instead of buying an expensive rb tranny.

  • If you are running a stock drivetrain (Apart from LSD and tranny.) I should have been more specific and said you might encounter some problems with drivetrain (Mainly maintenance wise, parts getting worn out much faster, etc.) But there are those who modify drivetrain from say a GT-S or similar cars and fit them to Z`s, others are lucky and simply dont encounter these sort of problems for a long while, depending on their driving too. Owh, I`d fit a "home-made" RB30DE with triple webers :)

  • that is something i would defiantly want to see.

  • Yeah basically a RB30DET block and RB25 head :)

My economy is a bit weak at the time as well, so I decided to go for ae86 now, and get a 280zx later :)

  • i am hopping that in a couple of years if the economy gets better, to do a 280z with a rb26 or an sr20.

  • RB26 or SR20 on 280z is insane, you feel the power up instantly even with stock engines, and the no-traction feeling even when driving a straight line at 40 mph is actually kick ass :)

  • Yeah, a friend of mine owns a BMW 325i 1997 mod with M3 suspension that he bought from a cousin, unfortunately he doesnt want to upgrade the engine, that thing would take out almost any car, but as it is now, he was even passed by a Golf ;)

  • thats because the e36's have a poor weight to power ratio. if he swaps a 2j, or an ls1 into it then it would be fast as shit. also the 325i has emissions restrictions that make it slow. the IS's models are a bit faster. but the only e36's that are worth hooking up is the m3's. preferably the obd1 models.

  • Yeah, he wants a M3 or M5 now, but I have a feeling he`d be satisfied if he but turbo`ed the one he already has. Just the insurance on a M3 or M5 is sky high here, he already pays about 1700 euros a year for his 325i.. That`s 2 mint ke70`s or 2 ae86 shell`s right there..

  • lmao. a turbo-kit would be the best upgrade to his car. i would go with like a t3/4, full t4, or gt30r, @ .8bars. it will make it fast and keep it reliable. but i wouldn't boost more than that without extra work to the engine.

  • Exactly, should be able to get around 90`ish more hp out of that 2.5 litre.

Today I saw a triple dellorto carburettor turbo setup for sale, it was listed for 240z 1970 model, so I`m not sure whether its for L28 (Although a big possibility, not sure.) Would be a cool thing to have for a one of a kind "RB30DE/NAT" as I call it, hehe.

  • if is for the 1970 model it is probably for the l24 but i might be wrong because i don't know the engine year productions of the z's in Europe. if is a turbo system my guess is that it will be for the l28 since those where fuel injected and they also came turbo on the 280zx.

  • Exactly, might come from l28 (The guy might have done a swap.) I`ll add u as friend so we can continue the discussions elsewhere :)

  • is all about how much u wanna spend. if i had a 240z i would drop an sr, but if i had a 280z then i would go rb/jz.

  • That is the holy grail of Z engines!!!

  • ill be buying one soon in cherry condition 99% rust free and under 7k. so good.

  • Why is it smokin? loss compression?

  • It's cold and has a carb setup, you can hear it doesn't rev up very smooth in the beginning of the vid. After that it runs fine :)

  • Nice S30 & TE27!

  • this is the nices sound i have ever heard out of a Z.Look at the car nice color and great sound,.If you have ever ovwend a 240,260Z then you know how it feels ,to drive a great Car.

  • That car is beautiful. I just got a 370Z, and I must say, I can see the resemblance. Z-cars for life baby!

  • that sound is beautiful

  • FAST!

  • 看起來可以轉到七干五百轉

    不過怠速的聲音有點難過...

  • whats with all the "fuck ,fuck ..." shit ??

shut up and discuss the video

    nice car s30

  • awesome car, awesome sound, thanks for this awesome video.

  • How's this OS Swap compared to the original S20 engine from Z432 / GT-R? What's the dyno numbers?

  • fuck that thing can rev!!

  • HOW COOL IS THE COROLLA BEHIND IT!!!!

  • i need that os giken head....!!!!!!!

  • i think if you left out the need for speed part out people wouldn't have given you 3 thumbs down.

  • that's my personal opinion i love the car but u need to stay in ur own business

  • um no, this is the internet. and your a fucking loser. god damn video game poser.

  • no i aint kinda low lif like u that wastes their time in front of a tv screen that will neva get laid

  • im sure your nfs loving ass is swimming in the 13 year old pussy.

  • look u piece of shit not worthy of the lowest pits of hell i've played the game once and i think it's crappy it's just when i heard this i mad me think of it---u got that mother fucker---u beta bc u think ur so cool talkin crap to a person u've neva seen before and then goes and cries when u see the replies and futhermore im 16 u dickhead, that is if u even have one

  • think twice before you say what i got.. thats all ima say. got play your playstation young buck.

  • look whos talkin y don't u get bent

  • early on u c the S30Z and a 911 Porsche Turbo----Wangan Midnight!!!!

  • was that a 911 turbo following or was that just me?

  • BLACKBIRD!!!

  • corolla levin

  • I would give my left nut for an OS Giken head.

  • What's that liquid he's pouring in the valve cover in the beginning? 0:13

  • Champagne, lol. Hes "christining" the motor. This cars a work of art.

  • haha agreed, thanks mate.

  • yep

  • rips 240z is nice, but the os giken head for this L series motor is something else.

  • what a machine! amazing work looks priceless

  • could this thing run till 340Kmh???? nice engine but don't know the power....

  • haha this car isnt nessisarily about the power, its about the nestalgia of the 432R

  • sounds like heaven...

  • It Sounds Freakin Beautiful.

  • tc24, id do anything to get this head for my L24

  • it's not a muscle car. It's a sports car. Muscle car =/= sports car

  • the best looking Zs EVER.

  • nice Z

  • to be honest i like the old schoo soungding inline 6....its a beautifull sound...!!!OMG it so pretty....

  • how fast would this car be with a RB26DETT under the hood?:D

  • Very fast....

  • How bout an RB30 or an OsGiken RB31DET....type 'rips motorsport datsun' into google, its a New Zealand tuner that produces some serious RB engines, i think the guy who owns rips is roughly quoted on rb's when he says "the rb26 doesnt do it for me, it has no way near the torque of the RB30 or RB31" all the fastest drag gtrs use the osgiken stroker RB motors (eg kier wilson's 32gtr). I thinks RIPS garage's S30 runs 8's or high sevens, oh yeah and its street registered.

  • A standard RB30 would be fucking slow. An RB30 block with an RB25DET or RB26DETT head would be fucking fast.

  • Can anyone reply to me on this question?

Could this car fit me comfortably?

Me being an Asian guy, 5'11", 205 lbs.

I could barely fit in my boy's '86 Corolla, I head rubbed against the headliner.

  • Yes. I am 6'3" and fitted easily into mine (years ago).

  • Alright, thanks for the response.

Was yours North American or JDM?

Because I plan to purchase one from overseas.

  • Mine was actually a '74 240Z Australian delivery. Same body shell and dimensions as the s30Z

  • Yes, easily, it's a big car inside

  • Those Japs have such cool shit to play with.

  • Does this car have a engine swap or this is the original motor with cams on it?

  • original

  • i give it a 9.95 out of 10

it would have been a 10/10 if you had an actual redline instead of a gay shift light

  • beautiful car wish i can drive it.

  • i love this car...

  • sick

  • That motor just pulls and pulls and pulls. I wish my L24 pulled that hard! haha

  • お・・・岡山?

  • very unusual sound. nice. now, let's see some dyno #'s

  • only few were made, and possibility the car parts are rarely made

  • i want 1

  • Very nice, I like it. Done with a lot of taste. It dosent get any rareer then that. Beautiful car.

  • this car is NOT a joke.

  • I wold gladly pay $10, thousand for that head convertion!!!!!

  • Office Tomitaku S30Z (GOOD...)

  • awesome sound, this car is nice and the tc24 B1 head from os giken is really rare.

  • The thing you do not want to overlook is that this is not a stock 2.4l Datsun. The head is a dual cam that comes with a price tag of more than $10,000 U.S. I would bet this Z does 0-60mph in about 5.5 seconds,f and pulls the 1/4 mile in around 13.0s flat.

  • I concur!

And just imagine what it would be like mated to a bored/stroked 2.8L!

Too bad they are no longer in production.

  • Imagine all that, plus a turbo...

  • imagine cindy crawford, plus a dick...

  • You imagine strange things. Your personal life must be rather "interesting".

  • i think its a 432R, the engin is 6L 2liter dohc, it can put out 300hp n/a, realy fast

  • Its a OS Giken optional twin cam head for the L series engines. Worth approx $10K if still available. Z432 had a S20 engine and badges to identify it. Thats one sweet Z!

  • Wow...thats clean!

  • That thing looks and sounds badass

  • Man.. that is such an awesome Z.. I NEED one!

  • I wish I had my stepdad's '79 280ZX. I wish he had it still. Oh, well. I'll find my dream Z soon.

    ~Ryde4Life

  • What a car park..... datsun heaven! Love the s20 engine also, oh amd the in-car 510sss at the end!

    Great vid, cheers mate! :)
