Wonderfully impressive movie. Jim Carrey was brilliant as Andy Kaufman. When it comes to put Carrey's best films (in acting department) my vote authomatically goes to Man On The Moon and The Truman Show. He deserved the Oscar or at least being nominated for this award. Courtney Love was great too - very underrated as an actress.
@Magnolia296 Yeah I was skeptical he could pull it off....for one thing he looks nothing like Andy Kaufman. Still he did about as good of a job as anyone could have. His Elvis pales in comparison to Andy's though! :)
jim carrey did a alright job of representing andy, however the beginning part (this part) is the only part of the movie that felt really really kaufmanesque.
i dont try to offend anybody, i think that why in 1974 Al pacino lost the oscar for his amazing interpretation of Michael Corleone, and in 1992 he won the oscar but its too late, that oscar was now for Denzel Washington in Malcom X.
what is that bum bum song before this? also, what is the song which he plays from the record? I think it is the opening and closing theme from the movie Lassie.
even tho it was different, i wouldve been agitated just sitting there watchin him awkwardly handle the credits while evermore thinkn about how my $15 is being spent well....
When I first saw this movie I was so confused. Right when I went to grab the remote when it was just a black screen, to see if something was wrong with the tv he stuck his head out. Good movie :)
Equally good as the intros of WILL SUCCESS SPOIL ROCK HUNTER? and THE GIRL CAN´T HELP it and I am 100%sure Milos Forman of course knew these classics when doing MAN ON THE MOON(but I am certainly not accusing M. F. of "stealing", he just got inspired and the result is FANTASTIC!).
haha i bet people walked out when it first came to theaters haha that was what andy was all about, just for his own entertainment and hopefully people would laugh too
I left the TV on when I went to bed last night and all of a sudden that music came on and i was like wtf. and then it started again and i though OMG SHUT UP! and then the 3rd time I got so annoyed I was like :@ and then the blackness came and i thought my tv broke or bbc finished :P
No, to the guy who said Andy didn't really die, he comes back at the end. That's Andy's brother at the end, not Andy himself. Although it makes you wonder doesn't it. Intresting.
I remember it being a boring rainy afternoon just coming home from school looking for a good funny movie to watch. And I was browsing around the satalite. Seen this, looked at it. It said Jim Carry so I am like " damn this looks good. " Seen this, and I was like... wtf? Then I got into it and I just loved it. Seeing it really brought me to see what a genious Andy Kaufman is, this coming from a 15 year old to boot. Great movie, Jim was great playing Andy, and Andy, we truely lost a genious.
