Yes, but... that rise was from about 1980 to 1998, and it hasn't gotten hotter in the past 10 years. Also, it only brought us back to where we were decades before--1934 and 1998 are tied as hottest US years. Finally, the past few months, global temperatures have dropped 0.6 C (check NOAA & HadCRUT). Temperature changes over the past century have poor correlation to co2 levels anyway.

this is possibly one of the most stupid and ignorant thing i've watched in a while... and for those who think global warming is not happening...go back to school. even sceptics AGREE that global warming is happening, the arguement is whether or not it's caused by human activities. either way we should do something about it as both sides agree that when temperature peeks to its maximum in the cycle, it will affect our lives.

i mean i'll give an example of this scam. now, if lorries want to enter London, they have to pay £200 each time (about $400). this means all the big stores will have to pay more to transport their stuff, and the customers have to pay more in the end for the products. the governments justification for this is "its an emission free zone".
so, following your justification, if they pay money, they're not emitting any bad gases at all?

The media and government policies have been mollified by the big gas guzzling industries for many years now, however, the facts scream too loud to be ignored now. You're right, climate change is part of the natural cycle of the planet, which is why there have been ice ages, hot periods etc. However, this time we're the ones doing it, we're the ones that have significantly altered our environment in the matter of a few years. The sharpest increase in global temperature via natural global warming on record is about 6 degrees in 10,000 years. We've increased it by about 0.6 degrees in *20* years. That's 50 times more *the* biggest change on record.

Yes, but... that rise was from about 1980 to 1998, and it hasn't gotten hotter in the past 10 years. Also, it only brought us back to where we were decades before--1934 and 1998 are tied as hottest US years. Finally, the past few months, global temperatures have dropped 0.6 C (check NOAA & HadCRUT). Temperature changes over the past century have poor correlation to co2 levels anyway.

It's bigger problem with society and it's thinking than with warming... money and power - that's all people think of. Sometimes it seems that the nature is the biggest threat and that people would distroy it all if they could. We are not above it, we are part of it. We shouldn't fight against it, we should respect it and find rational and creative ways to accomplish what we want to without making any damage to rivers, trees and animals.

Actually it's rare to have ice ages and the one at the moment is ending. Humans may be speeding the process up though.
However, the Ice Age ending WILL be a problem, as much land will be underwater. That's how the White Cliffs of Dover formed underwater. The White Cliffs are a sedimentry rock- Cardonifious Limestone formed during the Cardonifious age; when sea levels were 600 metres higher! (Trust me I know this- I do Geography and Environmental Science!)

You dont know ANYTHING about global climate, do you? Ice ages are the state of normality, the warm periods (like the one we're in now) are short periods in between the ice ages. Our warming of the globe is in a short perspective definetly changing the climate, making the world warmer. But the definite outcome is out of my or anybody else's reach. Oh dear you noobs - yes we have had a really hot period before - but it took 100's of years to happen and killed 95% of the worlds species. Hey mate: it would take you just half an hour of online research to find out that mother earth has been 5 to 6° C warmer than today for some 90 percent of its history. Seems as if the current ice age is coming to its end and it's just ridiculous to believe that we tiny humans have got the power to stop this development. Instead of that, we should use our brains to fuind solutions how to cope with the warmer climate. Still, this wouldn't be to the benfit of the energy multis.
