  • I love this scene. Real heroes back then and today.

  • love this film and the song that goes with the last land :D

  • Purtroppo non so l'inglese, spero voi capiate l'italiano. Non Italiani non dimenticheremo mai il grande coraggio degli eroici equipaggi dei bombardieri americani. Che con il loro sacrificio ci hanno aiutato a liberarci dall'oppressione dei nazisti. Thank you !

  • thanks for comment matt got to meet capt morgan about three months before he died signed a belle b 17 hat for me.....

  • Wow I hope that was a model they wrecked and bounced on landing. I don't know anyone who would do that to a restored B-17 for a movie.

  • a very impressive film for me, hope world peaceful, never have war again

  • I just watched this at school today and MAN I was biting my nails on this scene!

  • My Uncle Billy was a tailgunner on a B-17. He was on the 5th out of Australia. I never got to meet him. Us kids knew him from a picture on the wall in our house and a few stories that our Mom would tell that she heard from Grandma. She never got to meet him either. My Dad couldn't talk about him at all. He was his little brother.

  • It has been 20 years now but I still remembered how excited I was when I saw the touch down, tear in eyes. Simply love this movie.

  • Really great this film. And all the filming was done in England

  • The film was very enjoyable when it was released, but the producers descended into

'Top Gun' territory and jumped the shark with a convoluted storyline and a harrowing

final mission. None of that ever happened to the real 'Belle'. It sustained only superficial damage on Mission #6 and again on Mission #13. Its last six missions

before rotating home were 'milk runs' with little fighter opposition or flak. And in its

25 combat missions, a total of 31 different crewmembers flew in her.

  • First of all this movie is horse shit. The real Belle landed with no problem at all. If you want to see the real story, watch the real movie about the Belle.

  • @doginstine Dude its a movie what do you expect from Hollywood. Almost every movie that had to do with War (key word almost) had romance or some exaggerated part of the story.

  • wait so did the b17 crash on the camera at 1:06

  • 2 people hate America

  • I LOVE their "surprised" reaction when they hit the ground: "Hey, hey...HEY!" Also love how Danny wakes up as they land.

  • sending a few easter eggs back

  • youve gotta love easyjet

  • I love it when the elevators drop and there is just the hissing of the engines and coolant.

I guess the poor darling was tired after a gang bang with every 109 and FW90 in the Luftwaffe.

  • @hanscombe72 coolant?? b17 uses wright cyclone 9 cylinder radial engines and they are air cooled. its not coolant

  • The hollywood movie was absolute crap; but it made folks remember the courage of the people who bought our liberty with their blood... So I checked "like"

  • This movie makes you go through every emotion possible...this is a great movie!!! Honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice!!!

  • I usually don't like war movies, but this film was a big exception, a truly moving story about brave men.

  • Favorite of Airman :)

  • My favorite shot in the movie is the shot of the wheel still coming down as the runway is getting closer and closer.... seen this a dozen times and I still get chills at that shot.

  • my all-time favorite war movie even on re-runs its still wonderful

  • they have to make a blue ray version of this

  • I doubt Memphis TN gave here up though

  • Then some fucking idiot on the server decides to fly another plane head long into it.

  • I'd bet if she is is Dayton at Wright Patt AFB. she will be there forever, they have the USAF Museum there

  • where is the belle now, i know she is in dayton but is she still in dayton and i would think they would give that plane more care after what she has done throught out its history.

  • Brilluint film/scene

    FILM MISTAKE :

Notice that the belly turret is still intact on the plane even the though it got shot of by a BF109 in the ealier scene...oh well :P

  • anyone notice the pilot was on "full metal jacket'' he was ''joker''

  • My compliments to the producers and directors of "Memphis Belle". I have watched this video of the "The Landing" a dozen times. Emotionally stirring is the only way I can describe this scene. It is such an excellent blend of believable sights and sounds, and wonderful sound track by George Fenton. What a great tribute to the brave men in the air and on the ground, and to the reliability of the B-17 itself. I have never seen a more moving final scene in any movie that I have viewed.

  • in real life if they bounced landing they were lucky the gear didnt break

  • bets movie i have ever seen.i have watched like 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times.

  • This movie is only one.........only true war movie in cinema history. I love this film.

  • Favorite movie of all time...and this is the best part. Thank you for sharing!

  • someone clicked negative because he is nazi

  • 1 person was so emotional they clicked the wrong button

  • well she cares about them huh? hehe:) anyway yeah i almost cry to the end with chambane too:)

  • " gran tributo a los heroes de la segunda guerra mundial "

  • While not totally accurate historically, the movie is a thrilling and inspiring story of young men at war.

  • WWII was the key event that brought the USA out of it's deep economic depression, when nothing else worked...Hmmmm (Velociraptor tapping his claw on the countertop) Will History one day repeat itself?

  • Read the book Castles in the Air

and you will appreciate this movie and the men that served the Mighty 8th even more

there is no fiction in this movie..it all happened... just not to 1 Plane

Memphis belle was applauded and accoladed because it gave HOPE to air crews who felt they had no chance of going home ... i.e. avg life spane 6 missions...and no limit on missions in 1942-1943...

    think about it

  • Yes hollywood took it's poetic license in this film...

But if you take time and study 8th AF history.. which btw, will never be taught in a HS or College in this country.,, you would find that every event that happened in this film was based on actually happenings to many B17 Crews during the Air Campaign in 1942 + til D- Day

Here's one you might not believe, a Tail gunner was blown out of a B-17, and mission, in his turret... he floated down to earth ( 4-5) miles and was captured

  • @Tubbytoobs Yes, Hollywood often takes license with history and that's the only negative point to make here. The film keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The story of the Belle's 25th mission can be seen at archive.org in it's entirety for free. In addition, the plane was rescued from scrap and is in Memphis undergoing complete restoration. Still, we both love this movie!

  • @skitzostudios It's been yanked from Memphis due to shitty undersupport and moved to dayton.

  • @LGTheOneFreeMan The "Belle", the actual bomber is being moved to....DAYTON, OHIO? Man, that's just wrong.

  • @LGTheOneFreeMan I think it lives in Geneseo, NY now. It was there yesterday when I went to the museum and the employee I talked to said that it stays there.

  • A true fact of fiction with the Memphis Belle, but a specatular movie scene! What great editing here......and the score.............

  • @skitzostudios

Yes sort of , but everything that they (Hollywood) portray as happening to this plane Memphis belle, actually did occur on many B17s in 1942-1945

The Memphis belle crew was the first to survive 25 missions in the Air war over France and Germany... the average life span of a crew member in 1942-1944 was 6 missions..

    Just FYI

  • i was watching this intense scene and then my mom picked me up early i was mad

  • Fear GOD who hath power to cast you into HELL(Luke 12:5)! Fear God and depart from evil(Proverbs 3:7)! God is ANGRY with the wicked everyday(Psalm 7:11)! • my friend's dad is friends with the back seat gunner ( Sergeant John Quinlan) for the BELLE

  • @metrostation136

Hmm.. this is a list of crew off Net

Harold P. Loch - Top Turret gunner; Cecil Scott - Ball Turret gunner; Robert Hanson - Radio Operator; Jim Verinis - Co-Pilot; Robert K. Morgan - Pilot; Charles B. Leighton - Navigator; John P. Quinlan - Tail Gunner; Tony Nastal - Right Waist Gunner; Vince Evans - Bombardier; Clarence E. "Bill" Winchell - Left Waist Gunner.

  • My kid brother made an alternative ending to this movie. It's on Youtube under '25th and final destination'.

  • i love this movie. although it's inaccurate, it's still good. billy zane and eric stoltz own

  • and thats how we beat the nazis bastards

  • @neweast1 I watched this movie 9 times, my dad was stationed in England for a time near the airbase the Belle was stationed at.

  • god bless the crew of memphis belle......

  • wow i like theis movie and it was real to and it my favrit boomer

  • My father flew 50 missions over Itlay on the Robert E. Lee a B-17.. 15 Army Air Corp. God rest his soul.

  • @Dresden09 Lest we Forget. Thank you to your father and to all the other members of the allies who fought and died for our freedom during those dark hours.

  • @Dresden09

God bless him and a huge salute to him!

The 15th was created during the Missions that took about 600 B17s to Regensburg and Schweinfurt Germany to hit the Ball bearings works and Messerschmidt factories.... the raid to Regensburg meant that the v\crews could not get back to UK, and were to create abase in Africa.. the 15th Af to hit the underbelly of Europe and eventually Ploesti...

That raid hit the US Hard 60 planes lost x 10 crew = 600 men.. they could not go back ...mtf

  • Damn I love this movie and would love to have it on my iPhone!

  • God damn this movie is great.

I watched this movie thousands of times as a kid.

  • @subasurf

    Think about it..

    1942 to june 1944

    Airwar.....

    Then D-Day

    11 months later

WW2 ended for Germany... could have been earlier

but German HC hated the US Unconditional Surrender terms

  • are there any of the Memphis Belle's crew still alive

  • unfortunately no

  • thank you for the information

  • amazing story the pilot of the "real" memphis belle went on to fly another 26 missions in b-29's so thats 51 mission

  • thank you for the reply

  • didnt they hollywood it i think they landed just fine?

  • yes all those things actualy happened to the crew just not all in the last mission

  • Desde dónde puedo bajar la canción que suena durante el aterrizaje? Es una canción preciosiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisima. Por favor, respondanme. Gracias

  • A beautiful moment from a truly heart-warming film...and one that proves that the best war films don't feature absurdly exaggerated bad guys as hate figures. They just show ordinary people being called on to do extraordinarily things.

  • hismhs, I agree with you 100%

  • @hismhs

Read the book .. Castles in the Air Martin W Bowman

It's out of Print, I'm sure... cannot find a decent link on Internet...

But I have a copy somewhere in a box on memorabilia in storage.

you have to dig for the truth today... thanks to the modern Web..

  • @hismhs

There aren't many surviving 8th AF Members around today

if you see one... HUG him and say thanks!

As with all history, the real people on the scene's words are forgotten and the Evil

Revisionist writers sharpen the pencils and begin. this is why college learning is only the beginning not he end of Learning ... the truth

    Been there

  • Thank you so much for loading this clip. This is my favorite part of one of my favorite movies. Brings tears to my eyes to think that this really happened to countless crews over Europe/Pacific, Thank God for them

  • great movie, an excellent cast....

  • Comment removed

  • They all a heroes. Let them always been remembered.

And let us remeber those who did not return home back!

  • Phil played by db sweeny is the best. At the start of the film hes convinced hes going to die and is terrified but at the end hes the one who refuses to give up and saves the whole crew by getting the second wheel down.

  • i'm guessing it didn't have power steering he seems to be fighting it alot hah respect to all the faught and they will never be forgotten .... great movie too :)

  • My late Father flew 50 missions over Italy. The name of the plane was the Robert E. Lee.

  • ironic considering some of his escort fighters may have been Tuskegee airmen..

  • @irish89055

P-38s Thunderbolts did not take these crews to Germany and back

Only p-51's did that, with drop tanks, and that was late in the campaign.

  • yes actually breman was the 25th mission wilhemshaven was the 24th mission any way great movie its my faviorite.

  • can someone please upload the whole movie please?

  • one engine

  • Finally, I saw this movie on the big screen at my local library, and I must say, it was so worth it.

  • BEST BIT IN THE WHOLE MOVIE!!!!!

  • Great movie, but historically inaccurate. Aside from the fact that the Memphis Belle didn't come back from her 25th mission in such a sorry state, Bremen was not the final target she was sent to bomb. (It was Wilhemshaven.)

  • that is true

but the producers made this movie partially to show what many strategic bomber crews had to go through in 1943.

the story of the memphis belle was just used as a base

and, yes, this is an awesome movie

  • Also, not all of her crew did their 25 missions aboard her. Her right waist gunner on her 25th mission (Casimer 'Tony' Nastal) flew HIS 25th mission aboard the Memphis Belle, but his 24 previous missions on other bombers.

  • i wonder if he is the guy holding up his hands in the Wyler documentary, , slapping his browning... almost looked like he had a few coming back... anyone??

  • And they changed the names of her crew.
