Ripken: "Brady always had a much more advanced concept of cross-training and plyometrics and his diet. He was just ahead of the curve... To me, (that 50 HR season) was all about him being locked in. He had good swings every at-bat. He was just in one of those grooves"
Brady Anderson was a phenomenal baseball player. A dedicated and intellectual approach to the game and all of the means by which to play it well. He held many MLB records and his accomplishments were unprecedented.
Off the field he was and is a humanitarian in every sense of the word.
Men with his integrity and drive dont come along every day. We should be honored to have been able to see him play.
And fuck all these old HOFers who are saying that these guys should be banned from the Hall. Many of these guys were taking amphetamines for energy. And why is Gaylord Perry's use of the spitter never mentioned? The guy built his entire legacy around the use of an illegal pitch, and proudly admits to being a cheater. So one HOFer can admit to cheating and still appear deserving, but guys that took substances which were legal at the time are blacklisted? Makes no sense to me.
I'm no Brady Anderson fan, but how can you single him out when probably about 90% of ballplayers were taking the same stuff? And it wasn't even illegal then! McGwire used to talk to reporters with his locker wide open and a bottle of andro sitting there.
The steroids issue is the fault of MLB, not the fault of the players that took them.
Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, Clemens, A-Rod, and Manny are all HOFers in my book.
you could say he did steriods to get the 50, but I dont think you can say that the roids were 100% of the reason for it. lets face it, it takes forever for roids to ware off and the next year after 50 he hit 18, so there was some hot streaking in there too.
a good example is bret boone. we all know he roided but what led to his big 2001 was his ability to make contact, he had the power all along but not hitting with the big part cost him.
and it wasnt roids waring off that ending him- poor pi
If I could make a tribute I would, but by possible can anyone get some clips of my of his plays... he was amazing, this is mostly just pics of him, even pics where he's on the wall.
I luv Brady.

And how about all of the old-school HOFers who corked their bats? That's cheating too, isn't it?

and he also played most of the 1997 year with a broken rib which slowed his bat speed and follow through.
Ninety2q 2 years ago
but he stole 40 bases every year. and played the best center field in the league.

Brady was one of the best outfielders the O's ever had. His bat & defense were superb, plus besides Cal, no one represented the Orioles better.

i went out with him!...he's a really nice gentleman!

Nick Markakis is better than Brady Anderson the Orioles have great outfielders.
