Who will ever use videocalls at home. You can just buy a cheaper VideoCam for your computer. Also, this isn't a new feature. My old phone (Nokia 6120 Classic) had videorecording features. And no lags nothing to worry about (same front camera quality) and you could do it outside your house, without Wi-Fi.

@yogurtpretzel my main complaint with i phone is how they come out with old technology and say it's new. i admit they have a nice looking screen but it whould be nice if they also had a 8 mp camera to go along with it. as for the performance, we won't know which one is better until iphone 4 comes out, so they can do a comparison.

Remember its video calling... not signing up to skype, having the other person get a skype account, being online the same time etc etc... I was thinking about buying a GPS (for a car) but I rather buy an iPhone with the appropriate GPS app, get the COTSCO universal mount and vua-lah... Any coments??
@samm565 Regular GPS doesn't have the added advantage of using cell towers to cut the time to triangulate your position in half. Phones that are equipped with this (iPhone and other smart phones) have a distinct advantage over regular GPS.
However, iPhone requires internet to give you the exact maps (the default maps app) whereas a GPS needs to be able to see the sky.
It's up in the air. But if you are traveling in mostly Urban areas the iPhone is a better choice imo.

@nandatebayo666 true true i agree that it's very costly. but this product is really amazing! I would say it's really useful for busy ppl who are always out on the go. I would definitely buy it if i'm one of these busy ppl. Lucky them for having an "excuse" for themselves to buy it. :) But as a student, i will say that this phone is just too way costly for me esp since it doesn't really meet my true needs (other than social desirability). :)

@nandatebayo666 Ah, nobody really NEEDS an iPhone. In fact, the only thing people do need about a phone is the ability to make calls and send text messages. Maybe e-mail for the high-flying power suit. It can all be on a black-and-white screen, too.
But, damn, I assure you, 8 in 10 people WANT the iPhone 4. REALLY BADLY.

OH SHIT! This just is what I've been waiting for, a frightening major improvement of the iphone, but I never thought it would be this good. Just brought the 3gs a month ago and I never expect a newer model will appear just short while w Im losing interest with my 3gs now, I would just preserve it so it would look brand new, so I can sell it at higher price then save money and hopefully I'll get my hands with the Iphone 4 in December.
When will this be available in the Philippines?

Yet again apple are releasing a new iPhone. But guess what there so called "innovations" have been around for quite a while! e.g. the video call... COME ON!! i have this on my old Sony from about 2 years ago! and whats even worse this only works on wifi rather than the 3g network!! the HD video.. done long before..Multitasking? already done, infact a lot of smart-phones have this ability now! the screen? done before... This phone isnt innovative its a mixture of old tec!! Very VERY dissapointed

@pheas11 Probably because no carrier is gonna let the possibly millions upon millions of iPhone users to eat up their network doing video calls. Remember its video calling... not signing up to skype, having the other person get a skype account, being online the same time etc etc... This is calling someone who has the phone and pressing FACETIME -- ie direct connection.

i love the phone but what really is bugging me is that they will have the contract again with AT&T.... Apple is incredibly stupid at marketing and practically everyone knows that more than half of the iphone users are in different carriers than the actual att carrier. I was also expecting more.... Message to Apple: GET AWAY FROM AT&T AND START JOINGING OTHER CARRIERS!!! EVERYONE IS PISSED!!-------I also bet everyone at the keynote boo'd when jobs announced it was still being on AT&T!!!! >:|

@samm565 Regular GPS doesn't have the added advantage of using cell towers to cut the time to triangulate your position in half. Phones that are equipped with this (iPhone and other smart phones) have a distinct advantage over regular GPS.
However, iPhone requires internet to give you the exact maps (the default maps app) whereas a GPS needs to be able to see the sky.
It's up in the air. But if you are traveling in mostly Urban areas the iPhone is a better choice imo.

It is amazing how Apple is viewed as a leading company in technology (on the iPhone4 wise), while Asia had video calls over 5 years ago!?!?!? Also HTC Evo has that capability but Sprint doesn't brag about it that much. Also Sprint has 4G rolling out (now that is a new technology)
