Ahh, where have all the years gone.. Play this song on a good sound system and loud, you'll will hear alot music hapening, I mean it sounds freakin awesome...
This was my favorite song to play in the background in my car when I was breaking up with someone. I thought it was poetic, they always thought I was a jerk. They were probably right.
Hey never liked these guys at all, they sure were popular back when we were young.Guess i"m old now cause me an a buddy just had high fedelity blasting on his stereo.older, wiser...maybe
I have seen REO live over 100 times and have chilled with Kevin and the band countless other times, this performance is live trust me.How do i know?Kevin told me himself that its live, and if people think he is lip syncing,he just takes that as a compliment.Kevin is a very humble guy,but he is also very honest lol.
@lance9772 YES HE IS VERY HUMBLE..I MET HIM AND THE BAND LAST WEEKEND IN FAYETTEVILLE NC AND HE SPOKE WITH ME AS IF HE AND I WERE OLD FRIENDS....VERY DOWN TO EARTH GUYS ALL AROUND
REO was big band when I was in high school in the early 80's (Yeah I am old.) And I remember the band as a staple on early MTV. I really didn't get into them as much but I did love this song.
@peteyguitarguy no. it's real.. this is from the time period where there was no auto-tune and you had to actually have talent to make it in the record business. If you listen to most from then, most sounded as good live as they did in recordings.. it's called talent - something most artists now have no clue what that is because a computer can make them sound perfect.....
@jfryan How true. Thankfully there are artists like the British girl Adele who prove they can do on stage what they do in the studio, that also goes for another totally talented Brit: Sade. Of course there are more, many many more.
this song has been my inspiration to get out of 3 bad relationships.guess why i'm listening to it now?lol.my guy is only 26 and loves this music so thought we had alot in common despite the age difference.we have been together 3 yrs but i am thinking it's time for me to fly (again )
this is for all my exs. and sing it for them every weekend cuz its so true im happy liven free with no woman telling me cant go hunting ,fishing and going to the bars to karaoke all my songs all 95 of them : )
Used this to break if off with someone who didn't deserve me in the first place. Thank you Kevin Cronin for saying what I couldn't! I will always love REO!!!!!!
@guerrero1106 i don't think this song CAUSED divorces...im in a bad marriage and its almost killed me...ive been hanging on...i believe this song gives someone like me...HOPE. Sometimes its better to leave when you feel like you are dying each second: tick, tock.....Life is precious! We only have so many minutes allotted to us.Give it your all, then if necessary, take to the sky when you feel you're gonna die. abuse isn't pretty. it sucks.
I know someone who played this song for their wedding march. They thought it was a song about being happy and in love. Ironically they are still married.
my brother seen REO many times and they were always at MSA in Indy on New Years Eve he along with most of his friends went and saw then again that night on 12/31/80 then on 1/1/81 he came home and left us and left us this note!!! I love you and miss you My brother Gordie
Me too! REO, Journey, and then OMD, Pet Shop Boys etc. in the 80's. The 80's were awesome. That's why I'm on here listening to this song. I felt nostalgic. Seen REO in concert and they were always top notch. Back in the 80's and recently.
My ex husband asked (when we were still together) "you really like that song". I told him to read the words. Found it printed out one day. Walked away shortly thereafter... Love Love this song to this day! Just saw REO perform Last week. Magical!
@lance9772 Interesting, because Time for me to fly and Roll with the Changes are my two favorite REO Speedwagon songs, bar none. I play both of them regularly, as epics.
@balancepiston THE FIRST TIME I CHILLED WITH KEVIN WAS SEPTEMBER OF 1989.AND THEN AT THE JERSEY SHORE,WE TOOK PLENTY OF PICS TOGETHER,I HAD THE BEST ONE BLOWN UP INTO POSTER SIZE,AND THEN CHILLED WITH HIM A YEAR LATER AND HE SIGNED THE POSTER OF US,ITS MY PRIZED POSSESSION LOL.JUST RECENTLY HE SIGNED ANOTHER POSTER OF HIM AND I IN ATLANTIC CITY.AND A CARDBOARD CUT OUT THAT HE SIGNED ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE BAND.HE HAS GIVEN ME LOTS OF HIS GUITAR PICS ALSO.IVE SEEN REO ATLEAST 100 TIMES.
playing this crusin around in my 66 mustang top down her hair blowin in the wind money in my pocket not a care in the world that was 30 years ago the cars long gone but she's still here would be nice to go back in time for just a day or two though
there he is my buddy kevin cronin at his best,i chilled with reo in atlantic city.when i was leavin i said kevin its time for me to fly.everyone started to die laughin.lol.but to me it was the most obvious thing to say as i left.lol.kevin is one of the nicest and coolest cats that ever meowed.lol
there still is not a band that can bring a song so close to what you wanna say to that someone you wanna bounce.if i put myself out there you better scope me up, YES????
Great song. "The Midnight Special" was a great show to see new bands and singers in the pre-MTV days. The show definitely rocked.
