  • Malarchuck n Zednik :'( Malarchuck said that he wanted to zednik after that happened, both times that happened were very scary im glad that they both survived

  • Malarchucks accident was worse

  • WE WANNA SEE BLOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thats why people should wear neckguards

  • It's funny how the americunts think that soccer is a gay sport when it is the biggest sport in the world. When you don't use pads at all, and when you do quite tough tackles.

  • @Omgimacow rugby is worse than soccer, and thats gay to

  • @Omgimacow you use shin guards obviously you don't know what pads are! a shin guard is a ad you stupid shit

  • @tman245 But it's still the biggest sport in the world? I wonder why...

  • Its remember me the incident in montreal

  • @ineedalife13 hahah a soccer player would never even get an injury like this in the first place

  • i think mlarchuks was worse

  • Why Buffalo?! Why does this happen only in Buffalo?

  • holy shit Mezei scored!

  • didnt skate done this to malarchuk to?

  • @sToFFeNLive Yeh it happened to him as well, but he didn't know that it was bad until the medic was rushing towards him

  • @sToFFeNLive ***** Also the medic there single handed saved him by putting 2 fingers in the cut and pushing on the artery.

  • Linda Ruff is one helluva classy guy - Glad Richard got through it!

  • I'm from buffalo!!

  • In one way im glad that theesekind of accidents happen in NHL or any other premier league, bacause imagine it hapen to some juniors. Have to call ambulance and when neck is bleeding like that i bet that you have like 5% chances to live. In NHL (for example) you have doctors waiting in bench. You have whole staff to help you and ambulance right next to the ringside. I hope we dont have to see any of theesekind of accidents ever. Greets from Finland.

  • Would a soccer player get up like that and go to the side lines or would he start crying before he was even touched

  • @ineedalife13 hard for them to get up if their legs are bent like rubber. just saying.

  • @ineedalife13 Yes we would get up like that. I don't get why people think one sport is any more strength based than any other(Or skill based). Your name fits you. YouneedtoGETalife.

All that matters is that the guy is ok and still playing.

  • @ineedalife13 start crying :p

  • THERE WILL BE BLOOD!

  • @delageezy503 You suck dick for saying that

  • The comment 2 comments below this one is gay

  • soccer is better then hocley 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times more

  • @delageezy503 are you high? only a foot fairy would say something this stupid

  • @delageezy503 soocer is a panzy sport... thats why they fake it everytime they fall... stupid ass

  • @delageezy503 fuck off.

  • @ jorch1220 r u mentally retarded?!? hockey is way better than running around kicking a damn ball you lame fuck

  • @ jorch1220 soccer is better than hockey? What r u mentally retarded?!? Hockey is100,000,000,000 times better than running around kicking a damn ball you lame fuck

  • trainers saved his and marachucks life. both were US military medics, who served over seas

  • @michaelbarile i know right, everybody other than hockey fans or people with brains give this guy respect after what happend so im with you 100%

  • I've always found it ridiculous that blood can't be shown on television.

  • @EchoplexTheUltimatum And what kind of arousement do blood give you?? You must be sick and perverted. Show Zednik some respect!!! IDIOT!

  • soccer is better

  • @jorch1220 Fuck are you fucking kidding soccer is not even close like hockey ur jusr fucking retarted

  • @hockey4life3611 ya thats why its every country plays it no like hockey that its only on canada and us retard

  • @jorch1220 That comment is ridiculous. Ridiculously uneducated and stupid.

  • @zjprohouse you're the uneducated not knowing that soccer is the most played sport in the world ;)

  • @jorch1220 That was not the dumb part. The fact that you think hockey is only played in the US and Canada is retarded.

  • @zjprohouse nah

  • @jorch1220 now i am aroused...?

  • @jorch1220 Soccer may be the most played sport in the world. But it's also the most boring and full of floppers. At least hockey has something interesting about it...

  • @TehBombR if it was boring why do you think all the world would play it dumbass

  • @jorch1220 Because they like the suspense of them scoring one goal a game. Not to mention that is tradition.

  • @TehBombR your talking out of ur ass buddy just shhh

  • @jorch1220 Prove to me soccer is half as exciting as hockey and maybe I will shut up.

  • @TehBombR I dont need to prove you anything you now soccer is better and you just cant accept that

  • @jorch1220 You know, you are right. Soccer is awesome and I'm just making an ass of myself.

  • @jorch1220 this guy got his throat slit and got up and skated to get help. Soccer players cry and stay on the ground when they break their finger nails.

  • @jorch1220 socce ris running and kicking a ball hockey takes skill like skating then stopping in a split second and wrist shots and snap shots and slapshots. soccer might be most played but those players are pussies. so fuck you asshole

  • zednik is from slovakia like me

  • thumbs p if you say evgini malkin at begin 0:01?

  • @M1STERPYGMY For starters your argument is absolutely terrible. There are 1,230 NHL games over the course of the season and a tragic incident like this happens in a game once, maybe twice a decade. Of course ESPN is going to dedicate more coverage to something like this than just some ordinary regular season game. Bringing attention to issues like this help the NHL because they bring about reform to the rules and safety standards.

  • "a very scary incident that you never want to see [but we're gonna show you anyways]" fuck espn.

  • @M1STERPYGMY it's sports news, so yeah they're going to show it. derrrrrrr

  • @zjprohouse It's not sports news. They call it sports news, then they give you a perverted blooper segment. If i want to see people get fucked up or badly injured, i watch youtube. This shit doesn't belong on mainstream television. Maybe this is part of the reason it's now impossible to watch a hockey game on tv unless you have satellite. Too much bad press. Fuck espn. And fuck you for supporting them.

  • @M1STERPYGMY No, it is sports news. Want to know why? Because it happened, during a sporting event. And its news, because its a big deal. It would be bullshit if they did not show us this. Want to know why? Because it is news, and its their job to tell us the news. News.

  • @zjprohouse The news would talk about who won the game first and then incidentally inform us "oh yea, someone got their neck cut by a skate." They wouldn't begin the segment advertising blood and gore and then say, "oh yea, and the sabres won"

  • @M1STERPYGMY There are many games a day during the season, the neck cutting was definitely way more important than the outcome of any game. Yeah it is unfortunate what happened, but as a fan of the NHL, we have every right to know what happens during a game. And that seems like it was pretty big deal. So a guys life is more important than if the sabres won the game. Please die.

  • @zjprohouse oh yea "the neck cutting was definitely way more important" than any competitive premise or anything . I now realize this is as much of a problem with the audience as it is with the network because they're giving you bloodthirsty droogs more of what you want to see. Of course you want me to please die, you're a conventionally well-mannered, sadistically-molested closet pervert. You're probably assraping babies in chucky cheese bathrooms giving them pepperoni suppositories

  • @M1STERPYGMY Example: Imagine if ESPN didn't dedicate any time or coverage to helmet to helmet hits in the NFL. If they didn't make the public aware of the problem then there wouldn't be public outcry to change the helmet to helmet rule (the same can be said for concussions as well). What I'm saying is it is up to the independent journalists to educate the public on issues like these so that appropriate changes can be made. Is it gruesome? Yes. Is it necessary? Yes.

  • @M1STERPYGMY Using cutting phrases such as "sadistically-molested closet pervert" does not make you appear to be intelligent (I know that was your goal) nor does it make your argument any better. If anything it makes you look like a huge douchebag. Just saying.

  • @KyHearts You think that as a fan, you have the most influence in a league's reforms of safety standards? You don't. Especially in the NFL. The leagues operate independently of you. Since the NHL switched to versus, it's like the espn is bitterly trying to bury the NHL, and they'll do it. More people watch espn than Versus, and espn ("the worldwide 'leader' in sports") has a much more effective self-promotional attitude than the NHL. ESPN journalists aren't independent. They're espn journalists.

  • @M1STERPYGMY I never said I had the most influence. I said it "helps". Reading comprehension. And ESPN journalists are independent because they are independent of the NHL. Also please tell me you don't really believe that ESPN is trying to "bury" the NHL. You are correct in saying ESPN would cover the NHL more if they had broadcasting rights to the league but claiming they have some ulterior motive to destroy the NHL means you're fucking retarded.

  • @KyHearts uh espn journalists have obligatory contracts with espn sounds like your brains a little concussed from real motherfuckers smashing your helmet every day. ESPN gets zero ratings from nhl programming nor do they get squat from nascar but they're going down on their bumpkin dicks all the time comprehend that mr. espeon fucking fanboy

  • @M1STERPYGMY This is news.

  • @M1STERPYGMY ESPN gets squat from Nascar??? hahaha oh my god you just proved that you are as ignorant as I thought. ESPN affiliates broadcast EVERY SINGLE Nationwide Series race and broadcast several Sprint Cup races as well. Goddamn you are dumb as fuck. Like honestly it amazes me how fucking stupid one person can be. Congratulations. But back to the original topic Zednik almost dying on the ice is certainly news. I'm shocked you are still in denial about that.

  • @KyHearts In regards to nascar that's my point NASCAR is more of a cult sport than hockey yet they get much more coverage. Just because they broadcast them doesn't mean people watch them. I'm talking about ratings and professionalism. Millions of people WILL watch this. It's a violent spectacle. Yea it's "news." News is often outlandishly violent and cynical. Yellow journalism lives. ESPN didn't cover this in the most considerate way for the players involved or the NHL. Congratulations accepted.

  • @KyHearts Nascar gets a lot more attention in the USA ... Sportscentre is a canadian news cast so hockey is ALWAYS the #1 story, regardless of the situation... Look at the newspapers in Canada today ! All about the Canucks, do you think most Canadians care that there was a nascar race this weekend? Only rednecks are entertained by shiny things doing 500 laps turning left... get with the program... of course this is news idiot.. so was earnhardt 10 years ago.. "if it bleeds ... it reads" simple

  • @SwimmaLbC "Of course this is news idiot".. What the fuck are you talking about? The whole time I have been arguing that THIS IS NEWS you dumb bitch. Learn to fucking read. Also Sportscenter is an AMERICAN broadcast you twat. Their headquarters are in CONNECTICUT. Up until '94 hockey wasn't even Canada's national sport lacrosse was (and it's still the "summer" sport). Please never get on the internet again you illiterate fuck. Go stick a lacrosse stick up your ass and watch curling or something.

  • @M1STERPYGMY One last point, shouldn't the fact that this video has almost 1.3 million views prove that this is "news"?

  • @zjprohouse not to mention some people care about zednick like florida fans and just fans of him.

  • @zjprohouse You could have just watched the game.

  • Comment removed

  • wow bufflo has twice cut throats on there ice! one was bufflo player as in goalie

    now by the panthers....

  • Ever noticed how players keep getting sliced inm Buffalo?

  • You have to go to Sportscenter..I taped Malarchuk's accident and they actually showed the skate come across in slow motion...Just gruesome.Neckguards should be required as much as helmets

  • Comment removed

  • neck guards should be required by every team in every level of hockey.

  • @dancechick2493 it is after this one there was big talk and then they decided to make it required. from juniors to pros

  • @TheKSStratomaster yet, no players are wearing them.

  • @dancechick2493

Its not required in NHL just cheked ry for wrong info but in finnland it is required and propably in the KHL and elitserien its still required

  • this is why you wear a neckguard. I remember watching this from my home outside of buffalo with my grandpa while my parents were at the game with our season tickets. this happened right in from of them, they were 11rows off hte ice from the accident.

  • great thanks to cullimore for help zednik great job man :)

  • They should were neck guards

  • omg!!!!

  • dude this guy gets knocked out cold by kyle mclaren then he gets his throat sliced worst luck in terms of injury

  • i saw both Malarchuk and Zednik's Injury's on TV

  • Kaleta had a goal :)

  • "A very scary moment you never want to see, we go to Buffalo..." That just about sums about Buffalo sports...

  • Comment removed

  • @Theonlyuberpickle asshole

  • @Theonlyuberpickle i live in buffalo

  • neckguards should be mandatory for all hockey players.

  • @Propagandhi900 They have mandatory neck protectors now

  • I play hockey and my friends cheek got sliced by a kids skate

  • I was at that game. That shit happened right in front of me. I spent two minutes just staring in shock before I started sobbing. Scary shit. So glad he was okay.

  • holy shit look at that blood trail

  • Ya, I know.. Like wearing a tampon taped to your neck.

I meant I was kinda surprised nobody had made an attempt at producing and marketing a decent one, considering...

  • Its wierd how when malarchuck got his throat cut open he was on the sabres zednik got his throat cut open against the sabres.

  • neck gaurds do not provide anymore protection. the only push the blade closer to the main artery

  • neck guarddd HELLLOOOOO ;O

  • "He uuuhhhh, got hurt and uuuhhhh, you never uuuuhhhhhh, want uuuhh anything like this to, uhhhhh, to uuuuhhhhhhh happen. Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh"

Why doesn't anyone have anything thought out to say when someone gets badly hurt, possibly killed at a sports game!?

  • @supermandan85 Thinkning about what to say?

Don't wanna say something wronge and get hated for the rest of your life

  • @shinparkjun If America were to adopt this 'douche' policy half the world would starve. Communism and isolationism do not work. South Korea has twice the population yet THIRTY times the gross domestic product. North Korea's economy is equal to Costa Rica. Costa Rica has one sixth the population of NK. This means that a little banana republic's people are six times more productive than you and your lazy ass commie friends! COMMUNISM; WE PRETEND TO WORK, THEY PRETEND TO PAY US! P.S. FUCK OFF!

  • @1966martyd Greetings selfish moronic imperialist American dog. Kindly suggest you to learn difference from juche philosophy and communism. Stalin communism too weak, Mao communism fails. Juche philosophy fixed flaws and is perfect dawning of new socialism in Korea. Stupid greedy western pig look at glorious Korea with covetous eyes not see perfect ideology. Suggest higher levels of education regarding juche to rectify ignorance.

  • Neck protectors and visors should be mandatory, the sport is just too dangerous.

  • A lot of people say this is the worst injury in NHL history. But I wouldn't. I've seen worse injuries than this! I would rank this as the 5th worst injury ever!

  • DUDE, are you comparing clint's injury to zednik's...and they are the same severity??? ok, and that makes clint stupid for not skating to the bench, DUDE?????

  • Dude at least he was smart and skated to the side unlike malarchuck who let himself drown in his own pool of blood. He saved his own life there

  • this is worse then Clint Malarchuk neck injury

  • This proves that violent western society place blood sport on display. Disgusting morbid capitalist culture only concern with earning profit from violence and injury. American need follow juche philosophy to end exploitation from greedy money obsessed capitalist pigs.

  • @shinparkjun troll fail

  • @taylorkratos15 what is troll fail

  • I wonder how bad the guys who accidentally do this feel. I would hate to be the person who almost killed someone.

  • when are they gonna put throat protectors or full face helmets, this has happenned to much

  • i don't understand why the nhl doesn't issue neck guards for all players

  • whats with the sabers always having something to do with hocker players gettin cut in the neck ?

  • how fucking great is hockey? this dude gets his throat SLASHED and still skates off the ice and then the game resumes. hahah hockey is awesome

  • this is awful

  • i remember watching this one and thinking hpw olli jokinen must feel about accidently shashing a team mates neck

  • Ya, I meant a skate cut, specifically a neck one.

Quite sure there has been way more then just one death on or off the rink tho, probably numerous...

Hell, the reason they have those nets up now at the end of the rinks, is because a little girl was killed from a slap shot that hit her square in the face.

Just no deaths from a neck cut...yet.

    Why wait?

  • hats off to the zed.... not sure many guys would be able to man up and skate to the bench... glad hes alrite

  • dude i bet some of the sabres felt sympathy since what happened to their goalie

  • @Calgaryrocks16 That happened in 1989, this in 2008

  • @BewareOfTheDoggz your point? its not like they just forgot about it jsut because its a different of players doesnt mean they wont know or remember what happened

  • i remember that game, that moment was horrific, seeing his body go limp once he got to the bench was a heartbreaking scene, thank all the paramedics and doctors who were able to save his life.

  • Can't believe no players have died on ice from an injury like this YET..

    Tick tock NHL

There has got to be some suitable technology available for neck protection before we all watch a live death...

  • @hipcab I fully agree they should have a neck brace like in motocross or a smaller version of the plastic neck protector like all the goalies are required to wear

  • @hipcab there has been one death in the NHL it happened long ago...but it happened...a dude, caught an edge and hit his head on the ice...it was back when they didnt wear helmets

  • @theamericankids he said 'like this', he meant cut by an ice skate

  • @theamericankids Through, he didn't wear a helmet and smashed his head against eyes, way back in the past

  • @hipcab it's called neck guards, and no one wants to wear them.

  • @hipcab They do have neck guards... they just don't all use em!

  • @ghostKurt Ya, I know.. Like wearing a tampon taped to your neck.

I meant I was kinda surprised nobody had made an attempt at producing and marketing a decent one, considering...

  • @hipcab it happened in sweden about 15 years ago. RIP Bengt Åkerblom

  • @Kviele condolences man, that's no good.

  • @hipcab its called a neck guard...you are required to wear it up to high school level but some states are issuing it even in high school. i havent worn one in a few years because they are the most irritating thing but ive never seen anything like this happen to someone my age

  • @bmanny63 Deja vu

Cheers man... look down a few more posts.. ;)

I wore them up to a certain age up here as well..

  • @hipcab actually Bill Masterton died from injuries on ice

  • @PookeoResurrected1 Ya, a very sad story, and the reason there is the Masterson trophy handed out each year to the player that most exemplifies perseverance and dedication to the game of hockey.

He died 2 days later in hospital as a result of a bodycheck and his head hitting the ice with such force, players on the bench heard the crack as his head made contact with the ice....

That was late 60's, with no mandatory helmet rule in effect.

It took almost 2 more decades before it would ..

  • @hipcab

It does exist... players just choose not to wear. Much like it would make sense to wear a visor to protects your eyes, some players don't do it even though it is clearly available.

  • @hipcab It is called a neck guard you faggot. No one wants to wear them.

  • @hipcab live death would acutally be pretty cool

  • @sainlovesluppi487 it wouldnt be cool it would be depressing because im from slovakia like him.

  • @hipcab neck gaurd i wear it sence i saw this.

  • @hipcab they have neck guards, but they're optional so most players opt to not wear them which is ridiculous...you're wearing how much protection and padding already? a neck guard on top of that is nothing. they just look like a turtle neck from a sweater or something. i'm pretty sure they're mandatory for goalies, but i could be wrong...

  • @pookiewook goalies wear their own for collar bone protection but yeah they should all have to wear them.

  • @KRug47 hey, thanks for clearing that up for me :)

  • @hipcab

neck guards, just that no one wears them

  • @hipcab well im not really into hockey but dont they have the option to wear a throat guard?

  • @hipcab

There are neck gaurds. Most peewee leauges require them. although it is optional for the pros.

  • @hipcab Someone have, A player in Mora IK in Sweden died around in the 90'. He bled out on the ice if remember correctly. After this, we have a rule in sweden that says you have to use neckguards.

  • @hipcab in youth hockey you have to wear a neck guard and it is not metal but it helps prevent this and a windpipe collapse if you get there.

  • @hipcab Ya its called a neck guard. Real men stop wearing them after peewees.

  • @hipcab theres some .. no one wants to wear them....

  • @hipcab there is

    the neckguard

  • @hipcab there already is one, its called a neck guard...

  • @hipcab One has happened in between 1900-1911 seasons was the first NHL Death

  • @hipcab No shit!..... this happened before with a goalie that cut his neck and now again

  • @hipcab Don't the NHL players WEAR protection for the neck??

  • @hipcab there is actually. there are throat guards that a lot of youth organizations require their kids to wear. kind of like mouthguards. which some nhl players don't wear. and none of them wanna wear the neck guard either i guess haha

  • @hipcab

There is, but then you end up looking like an idiot named plekanec

  • @hipcab like bill masterson... :(

  • @hipcab it has happened before duhh

  • Skating straight to the bench saved his life. The pressure applied by the towel was probably all that kept him from bleeding out. You cut the jugular and it's pretty much instant death. That's how lions kill their prey.

Glad he was able to come back from it.

  • Вернись в Локо сука!

  • @DjRastaBlaster Ха-ха, так что случайные! WTF!

  • this was just as bad as clint malarchuk.

they never released the footage of him actually skating to his bench.

i was at the game and it was squirting out of his neck like crazy. you could see where his heart was beating on the ice cuz the puddles of blood would be larger.

    crazzy

  • Whats with Buffalo and throat slitting?

  • have you seen malarchucks?

  • God, if I was the guy who cut his neck, I would be just sitting there staring at the bunch saying oh my god oh my god, but in my head I would be screaming WHAT THE FUCKING SHIT DID I JUST DO TO HIM???"
