firebrand- The United States did not have an income tax until 1913. We were founded on July 4, 1776. That's 137 years without income tax. Oddly enough, the Federal Reserve was created the very same year- 1913. When a private company can print all the money the government wants, we get massive inflation. That's why our beloved $1.00 is only worth $.04 compared to the 1913 dollar.
