Personally, I'm glad you can't attack in F-zero aside from bumping. It makes the game faster, (You're not constently being slowed down by attacks, like in Mario Kart) and instead you concentrate on just moving as fast as you can. I like that in a racing game.
Captain Falcon is so awesome that even the Black knights armor from fire emblem will shatter if he only looks. Don't get me started with that red plumber, he can't be qualified as winner

i didnt expect much when i saw the cheap intro made with windows movie maker, but then it was just perfect. i loled when you reviewed the bad aspects of the game you suddenly raged :P
now you see why I removed the score system, its hard to score games bases on the many I own. So I don't do scores anymore. For new games we say Buy it, rent it, don't bother with it. Old games are either track down a copy or its not really worth your time. Most of the hate or dis likes I generated over they yrs are from my flawed score method.
@kNIGHTWING01 Yeah i totaly see your point. But just your (supermario sunshine, smash bros melee, and smash bros brawl were so low considering those are games most people would say 10 or 9 to. It's games like this that make me miss the way games used to be, especially considering games like this don't come around anymore. As far as a racing game franchise goes, I would easily rank this in my top three. I honestly don't think this game has aged much, it's still a blast to play and anyone can pick it up and play it. I'd pick F-zero (or any other racing game for that matter) over a Nascar game any day. I'd like to see those cars hit excess of 1000 Km/H. =D
As much as i love this game, i feel obligated to state 2 major criticisms that i have:
1)No parallax between the track and the ground below, so it doesn't really feel like the track is floating in the air (this has been fixed in the GBA games, but i do not think that this was beyond the SNES's capabilities, so i am dissapointed that it is not present).
2)NO MULTIPLAYER!! (how cool would this game have been if you could go head to head with a buddy).
I don't know why he's so upset that you can't shoot people, it's a future f-1 style racing game, you do see f-1 cars with rockets, or people upset that there are none. There are plenty of other games that offered driving while shooting. I for one liked it better that are no weapons, racing games play unfair as it is, so thats all I need is a computer car behind me that always seems to have a homing missile.
Super Mario Kart is probably the greatest racing franchise of all time. I still have the original SMK. I bet you all sweat me pretty bad don't you?
All the blabbering about SMK aside...I also played F-Zero way back in the day. It is also very epic. I mean...all I need to say is "Fire Field" (which is not displayed here!!..??) and anyone who has ever play the game would understand what I mean.

I'm sure many other people have told you this already, but there are actually 4 difficulty settings. You unlock the 4th one by completing a cup/league on Expert (you have to unlock them one cup/league at a time).
F-zero is an absolute classic. Forever replayable! Superior than its sequels. I'm fortunate because I first played the game near its release, the early 90's. So, I have a clear memory of what the game meant back than to all gamers and it was HUGE. I gotta say that I have no problem with not being able to shoot my opponents. Why would I wanna do that? This is not Mario Kart, which I also love deeply, but let's not mix the different gaming styles. F-zero is a 10/10. And the music is perfect, btw.
@crammage I have beat master difficulty on the Knight League and Queen League, but not on King League. I have only been able to beat expert difficulty on King League.
But that was a long time ago. I used to play it a lot, but I don't play it that much anymore (but it is still a great game). I doubt I would be able to beat the master difficulty now.

Hold down when going over a jump to stay up longer. Hold up to go back down faster.
Hold the right and left trigger when you let off the gas to go around a corner to turn even tighter than before. You do lose a bit of speed but with the consequence being hitting a wall or getting hit by the cpu players.....do it, just do it. If you use the sharp turn buttons when pressing on the gass, you'll skid around the corner and for some reason even if you do it rally style, the cpu catches up.
It really disturbes me that your not holding the down button when your in the air, but great review and I was glad it go a 9/10 and a 8/10, and also, there is one more leauge when you finished the king legue (How do you spell it?) on hard diffculty
I noticed on your gameplay clips you dont do the ramp boost. I don't know how many of yall know this but, if you hold "down" on the crosspad you get a slight boost off ramps. Not only that but you'll get a smooth landing without bouncing and will not lose speed. :)
Badass review! you mentioned everything i love abotu f zero, but i dissagree with the bumping into other characters as being a bad aspect, if you get good at it, its actualy very saticfying, and if you know how to do it effectively.
Great review, I've played before, pretty tough, I should state that if your first playing, NEVER try the King League first, even if you think of yourself as a great racer.
By the way, kWing, you planning on doing an F-Zero GX review? I'm thinking of buying it, but I don't feel I know enough about it, Is it worth buying?
It was Designed to be a Single player game. Back in the day most games were targeted toward 1 gamer. Eventually many racing games including Fzero became multiplayer games to introduce new people to games and such.

There is two things that I would like to mention:
When he explained the controls he forgot to say that you can press down to jump further and land smoother.
He said there where three difficulty settings, but there is actually four.
You unlock a secret difficulty setting called "Master" when you beat the expert difficulty.

It really disturbes me that your not holding the down button when your in the air, but great review and I was glad it go a 9/10 and a 8/10, and also, there is one more leauge when you finished the king legue (How do you spell it?) on hard diffculty

I noticed on your gameplay clips you dont do the ramp boost. I don't know how many of yall know this but, if you hold "down" on the crosspad you get a slight boost off ramps. Not only that but you'll get a smooth landing without bouncing and will not lose speed. :)

Badass review! you mentioned everything i love abotu f zero, but i dissagree with the bumping into other characters as being a bad aspect, if you get good at it, its actualy very saticfying, and if you know how to do it effectively.

Great review, I've played before, pretty tough, I should state that if your first playing, NEVER try the King League first, even if you think of yourself as a great racer.
By the way, kWing, you planning on doing an F-Zero GX review? I'm thinking of buying it, but I don't feel I know enough about it, Is it worth buying?

It was Designed to be a Single player game. Back in the day most games were targeted toward 1 gamer. Eventually many racing games including Fzero became multiplayer games to introduce new people to games and such.

The shield-replenishing area was an idea copied by Kemco in their 1994 game Top Gear 3000 (also for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System).

This looks like a cool racing game. But no lasers, missiles or mines to blow up your enemies. Rock n'roll racing is still the best.
