I like RE5 and the character Josh and everything...but he really sucks at trash-talking.

I'm still wondering what system the videos are being displayed on, because there are no button prompts and the textures look cleaner than the PS3 version. The video is also a lot darker brightness wise.
The Mercenaries and Mercenaries Reunion are separate modes, the old characters will not be playable in Reunion so Wesker Midnight and S.T.A.R.S. will not appear.
This leaves the door open for new characters to shine and adds more overall character balance in the process.
2 Mercs Reunion characters come with each DLC so if you want all 8 you will have to purchase Costume Pack 1, Costume Pack 2, Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape. Alternatively, the Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition released in March will have all the new features plus Versus DLC released last year.

I'm not saying the old characters won't be patched in at a later date but for now the devs want players to experience new gameplay to keep things fresh.

Probably to keep it fresh and interesting, there would be no point releasing these new characters if Wesker Midnight still dominated everything.
Besides, there's still a a chance a new Wesker and Jill type will be added but new characters such as Irving would be better in my opinion.
