Certainly the girl dances and sings as if she were a woman from the Dominican Republic or the Cuba, but in fact she is of India, and possibly of Goa, a land rich in Latino heritage, an interesting mix of East and West.
@luisdiego29 You're right, Luis! She's of German/Indian parentage. but grew up in Goa, which as you said is rich in Latino heritage. Very interesting and rich combination indeed. Thanks very much for enjoying it.
@TheRemoFernandes My friend you have much talent, and is at a crossroads of cultures (Western and Eastern), and which allows you to create a wide variety of musical genres, as well as Indian music, of Goa (Konkani) and those related with portuguese heritage, you should take this great opportunity, good luck. "Pura Vida"..

Remo..please keep the goan-porto flag flying high...i wish you could teach a few things to the newcomers who sing in konkani....all they do is copy from hindi songs, Choreography is a joke, some just pretend to play guitar...feels like watchin a 70s hindi song...
@denzee13 Thank you, Denzee. You're right about the Konkani scene, but it can only improve as Goan artists keep getting exposed to international music and videos today, through YouTube and TV channels. Hopefully they'll be inspired by their ORIGINALITY, and not copy them too! :-) Having said that, I think there are a few Goan artists who are attempting originality nowadays. Long live Konkani!

Ciao - Remo.
KING OF GOAN POP, thats our REMO.Right from his winning song with Miss HEMA in Germany,to his double platinum smash cassette "PACK THAT SMACK",to his chartbusting songs in film "BOMBAY",to his jamming with LORNA(they belt IEO BAILE with such conviction) Remo has done it all.At home though he is very quite.Still in love with his French born wife, likes gazing at sunsets with a glass of Mexican tequila, reads, and simply loves watching Bipasha basu movies(in his secret room though,in the basement)
@bikribikri Wow, thanks a lot, Bikri! You've got most things right, except: a] My French wife and I have been divorced for the last 3 years; b] I never much liked tequila, my favourite drinks in this world are Goan "urraca" and Brazilian "caipirinha"; c] I don't watch Bipasha Basu movies, never watched one in my life; and d] I have no basement! But you get full marks for imagination and fiction writing. Hahaha! :-) Take care, and all the best always.
Hi Remo... dunno.. something has happened! Among the Fidel person hahaha on the video... a bit odd... I said that i know the place... Fontainhas, near the poço.. close to Capela S.Sebastiao. I used to live near the place.
@NaliniXS Its strange how your message got 'removed', Nalini. Its scary in fact, that a third person is able to remove normal messages from my YouTube site! Yes, you got the place right alright, its but natural since you've lived there. Yes I remember Hanna's wedding of course, but can't place you, I'm afraid... Perhaps you could email me a photo to get these old memory cells working?
@NaliniXS Ah, Carmita's friend! Small world! :-) Great meeting you on YouTube, after Ribandar! Now it comes to me... in your first post [which got removed], did you ask why the song was about a Latina, and not about a Portuguese girl, in the Portuguese language, or something like that? I remember glancing at a notification email from YouTube with such a message... Was that you?
No, i said something about a Cuban girl with Fidel and all. A Portuguese girl could never teach you chachacha... maybe "oh malhão, malhao!" *LOL* There was ANOTHER guy criticizing somebody else about some other song and asking her whether she thought that only Goan people should sing in konkanin. For me, the issue was the choreography! You change the music and that will make no difference. And it's so funny watching the girls dancing the dulpodas wearing Seville dresses! anyway
u have tons of people awaiting for you to accept them on Facebook. Anyway, i'm Carmen Miranda's friend. Sent u the pic... you can see yourself on the boat on the Mandovi river, on our way to Hannah's wedding.
@hilda6089 Thank you Hilda! My songs ought to be available on iTunes, Amazon, etc soon... Will post the news here on YouTube as soon as the distribution is in place.

Yes, Luis, it was my intention to show the similarities between all the old Portuguese and Spanish colonies in terms of architecture, dress, music, etc. It could've been Cuba, Brasil, etc... but it was in Goa, India! By the way I am Remo, I don't know why my name shows here as satyanaraya1... Strange!!!
It looks like a street in Havana Vieja Cuba or in Santo Domingo Dominican Republic, but not, possibly it is the the Fontainas's Neighborhood in Goa's city, in India.
The song has a strong Caribbean flavor: Cuban and of Dominican Republic, definitively is chacha, the excellent Latin flavor, delicious, in spite of having been a compound and interpreted by a Goa group, congratulations my friends, excellent work.

Hi all, thank you so very much for the lovely messages! I'm sorry I haven't been regular in asnwering stuff on YouTube... but I promise I will be from now on. I'd love to answer each one now, but I guess its too late and you won't be accessing this site? Anyway, love and light to you - Remo.
Thanks 4 yr sweet message...... I am happy that u thanked us...... you are a sweet man indeed........ I love you.......and love to hear this song many a times.... and I am really proud to be a Goan........ You are Goood. :) Melissa.......
I bet you filmed this video in my part of the town (Fontainhas?) I grew up there, man! Went to Mary Immaculate Conception school, ogled the boys from People's High School, .... your music brings back old memories. Luv ur music, Remo!
I even have a photographic memory of dancing to ur music at the Miramar beach, many years ago, for the Seafood festival event. luv it luv it!!!!
Thanks Sonal, good to read about your 'adventures' in Fontainhas! I love that part of Panjim, and you're lucky to have grown up there. Of course ALL of Panjim was more or less that way when I grew up - lovely painted houses with gardens and flowers, no traffic, no garbage and pollution, everyone knowing and caring for one another... Paradise.
And why should Goans not sound like Goans speaking Hindi, Angelo?! We love different accents from Jamaicans, Africans, Americans - and even try to imitate them. But you think we ought to be embarrassed of our own accents? I'm not.
Yes, that's exactly who he's supposed to look like! :-) Glad you noticed. By the way, that actor, called Agapito, expired a few weeks ago. May his soul rest in peace. He was a wonderful, fun-filled man.
Remo,do you know your simply the very best I'd so honoured to have met you once how is ur siter she was my french teacher.I love all your music would love to Come see some of your live show's when i'm back in goa.till then all the best love u ur uno fan Mariolla O'Neill-in Liverpool england your music sound's boss.everyone's wanting to know who on earth u r i said follow me to goa then u get to c remo.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has enjoyed Muchacha Latina and written wonderful things about it! And special thanks to Thaans for the comment about "India Beyond". Love - Remo.
This music and video is really brave .your music really stands out from conventional songs viz bollywood music..i seriously belive that there are only two musicians in whole of india who does that..1.Remo and 2.A.R Rahman.
is original jalwa lyrics written by you and sang as well??i am trying to find that video on youttube.
Very refreshing video, and the music is phenomenal... a seamless fusion of the Indian and Latin music styles. The flute gives this song a cheery and breezy appeal. I'll use this forum to say that "India Beyond" is one of your richest albums yet, and hope that the readers of this review check it out. Hope to see more of your videos on youtube.
You've done a great job to pull in fans internationally, and made Goans proud, however I really wish you could pull the teenage crowd to Salvation through Gospel songs of praise and worship.
hey remo....where can i find copy of ur album politicians dont know to rock and roll.....

Hey Remo,
You are lovely. I just love this song.

Paradise.

dont know why remo did not sing this song in portuguese, he sounds like most goans speaking hindi....
mendoncaangelo 2 years ago
And why should Goans not sound like Goans speaking Hindi, Angelo?! We love different accents from Jamaicans, Africans, Americans - and even try to imitate them. But you think we ought to be embarrassed of our own accents? I'm not.

Yes, that's exactly who he's supposed to look like! :-) Glad you noticed. By the way, that actor, called Agapito, expired a few weeks ago. May his soul rest in peace. He was a wonderful, fun-filled man.

God Bless you.
