Dr. Patarroyo a.k.a. "the bestiality doctor" is well known for performing lust and extravaganza rituals with aotus monkeys. The "doctor" has killed as many as 76 endangered monkeys in lieu of his "malaria experiments", most of them after being beaten, harrased and mutilated only to satisfy Patarroyos' greed. peta dot org
When I was involved in malaria control, I also propagated the widespread use of the larva-eating fish, Gambusia, for extensive dissemination in the large bodies of water in the catchment areas. Not only did I personally go to the mountains; I also went to the depths of the region in spreading the fish. The fish not only ate the larvae of the mosquitoes (of all species, including Anopheles), the adult fish were also quite nutritious when eaten by the malnourished children.
Only a few decades ago there where more than 100,000 malaria cases per year in Mexico, and thousands of deaths. After effective anti-malaria programs, now there are about 2,000 cases per year, and the last death was recorded in 1982. So yes, it CAN be done.
That's exactly what we should do. Trying to erradicate and prevent malaria instead of threating the symptoms. I'm also very pleased to hear that people finally have started to react on the economical effects of diseases. For example: malaria costs sub-saharan Africa 12 billion dollars a year(estimate). It's a vicious cycle you have potential, but you get ill from time to time and therefore can't develop to your full potential.
We had the cure, but the onset of the environmental movement shut that down. Now things are different, we no longer have to put up with those pesky scientists. We just make shit up and our highly educated public believes it.
