This is more than likely the hands down best pattern to practice learning this with.
Tips for people that are struggling, slow the hell down. You have to put some time into this, patience is key. Go at it for an hour or so on a clean setting to tell if you are hitting each note at the same time, if not, slow down some more and start from there, and keep at it until your hands are tired. Once they are, give yourself a 10 minute rest, and go at it again, a bit faster
The key to learning anything well is to practice slowly. You acquire control of what you are doing. That's the simplest way I can put it. Something like this takes more time because there is a coordination requirement that must be met. If you practice fast, you are always going to be messy, and you will always be cleaning up your playing. Your skills won;t last, and you can injure yourself. If you speed up something slowly, you gain control and everything you play will be clean.
@Zethyguitarest I am having problems where when I speed up the string I move my fingers up from plays an open as if I was playing a pull off. How do I stop this? And by the way my phone just spazzed out and I accidentally pressed flag. Sorry about tht
kinda got it, but can someone tell me a way to stop some of the string ringing once i move to another, it doesnt happen all the time and i know im probably just sloppy but is there any way ??????
thanks for the vid buddy. I'm getting there but you're totally right, getting your hands synced is the hardest part. It kinda feels as though your left hand has to move further than your right one does. So oddly enough I find myself going too fast for my left hand to handle. So I slow it down but then it reverts to picking again. I pull it off sometimes though. But that's just it. Keep doing it over and over until you can do it from muscle memory. And again thanks for the vid dude.
@metallic51 play really really really really really slow at first you got to build up your speed, if you start out going fast you're going to create lots of problems and become a messy player. Part of the process is learning and memorizing the pattern which takes awhile for your left hand to process the ability to move up and down that pattern fast. A metronome can be a great friend and there are free ones online.
Hey one of the best vids ever! I'm working on canon rock and at one part I see the guy sweep picking, so like if I practice the arpeggio will it help with the sweep picking part cuz it looks way different and like there's a couple of notes on one string when he does the sweeping. Help plz would be much appreciated ^.^
one of the biggest problem i have is when i try and sweep pick i always get reverb i guess is what its called, when i use distortion. how do i stop that. because yours sounded clean?.
@Connern13 tilt your pick downward and practice these arpegios slowly with a metronome and after a week or 2 of practicing this atleast a half an hour a day this will feel more normal, if you still have troubles with this message me because I might make a video on technique if people keep having trouble getting this.
ncie vid man been looking for this for a while and have been getting crap. Don't take this vid down it works despite the tuning ^_^, just one thing and a lil request as well. Will this work with any apegio? An can you do a Metallica One lead tutorial?
@emokiller907 its the way the video was recorded. everything is pinched and elongated. notice how wide the fretboard is, it's as wide as a 7 or 8 string guitar but there are only 6 strings.
Lol, i was trying to sweep for ages, wondering why mine didnt sound like the video and then i realised that this dude isnt in standard tuning, but one step down. :L
im having trouble sweeping more than 3 strings, btw you look like a really "rough" person but you're actually really nice and instructive in the vid lol
"You have to keep practicing over and over again, and you'll feel like you're not getting any better".
Truer words have never been said. That happened to me when I was learning to tremolo pick, but in the end I got it. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same with sweeping.
@squidofsymphony I can do three strings and four ...and I can do certain arppegios on 5 strings but, I just cant get my pinky to reach the 5th string.
@EmoGuitarSceneKidxP When you start trying to sweep pick, try to limit yourself to only 3 string arpeggios at first and play them slowly until you feel comfortable with them, then see if you can speed it up. Once you've got that worked out you add another string and start slowly until you're comfortable with it and can play it faster, then adding another string...you get what I'm saying.
ay man good job man.. i dont follow everybodys sweep patterns. or i dont know any of the notes but rather take the information and transform the sounds in my head for good use. you did a good job man and keep the music alive brother.
My question is: How do you mute the string after you release it? I've started practicing this exact same lick 3 days ago and it seems to go smooth except for my strings retaining their motion after i release them. Do i have to palm mute or something?
@CGjamppl Hey! I have solved the problem trough practice. I am assuming it has nothing to do with a technique, you must just be careful not to pull the string on release. Play slower if you cant seem to pull it off...
is it easier to push down the frets individually as ur strumming or should you have like the first 4 frets already pushed down then alternate when u run out? if u get what im saying

I practice at least up to 2 hours a day if not more.
I lost count of today though. I have slot of time on my hands so yeah how long do you think
Soldier1287 6 months ago
@Soldier1287
Use a metronome. It will help.
Take sweeps in 4-note bursts (as fast as you can) & build the rest of the sweep from there.
If you try to do the whole sweep in one go, you will be there forever learning this technique.
Remember...4-note bursts (not 3)!!
