How To Sweep Pick

This is more than likely the hands down best pattern to practice learning this with.

Tips for people that are struggling, slow the hell down. You have to put some time into this, patience is key. Go at it for an hour or so on a clean setting to tell if you are hitting each note at the same time, if not, slow down some more and start from there, and keep at it until your hands are tired. Once they are, give yourself a 10 minute rest, and go at it again, a bit faster

The key to learning anything well is to practice slowly. You acquire control of what you are doing. That's the simplest way I can put it. Something like this takes more time because there is a coordination requirement that must be met. If you practice fast, you are always going to be messy, and you will always be cleaning up your playing. Your skills won;t last, and you can injure yourself. If you speed up something slowly, you gain control and everything you play will be clean.

Your right hand is what stops the fret noise, by lightly palm muting. and eventually the faster you do it, the less fret noise your gonna have.

thanks for the vid buddy. I'm getting there but you're totally right, getting your hands synced is the hardest part. It kinda feels as though your left hand has to move further than your right one does. So oddly enough I find myself going too fast for my left hand to handle. So I slow it down but then it reverts to picking again. I pull it off sometimes though. But that's just it. Keep doing it over and over until you can do it from muscle memory. @metallic51 play really really really really really slow at first you got to build up your speed, if you start out going fast you're going to create lots of problems and become a messy player. Part of the process is learning and memorizing the pattern which takes awhile for your left hand to process the ability to move up and down that pattern fast. A metronome can be a great friend and there are free ones online.

Use a metronome. It will help.

Take sweeps in 4-note bursts (as fast as you can) & build the rest of the sweep from there.

If you try to do the whole sweep in one go, you will be there forever learning this technique.

Remember...4-note bursts (not 3)!!

Truer words have never been said. That happened to me when I was learning to tremolo pick, but in the end I got it. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same with sweeping.

@EmoGuitarSceneKidxP When you start trying to sweep pick, try to limit yourself to only 3 string arpeggios at first and play them slowly until you feel comfortable with them, then see if you can speed it up. Once you've got that worked out you add another string and start slowly until you're comfortable with it and can play it faster, then adding another string...you get what I'm saying.

@behemothfan1 bring the palm of your hand down on the strings as you strum, you won't notice the palming sound if you do it right. to do it right you need to do it quick enough and strum fairly hard. just practice and it will sound better

@BigD19951 Pinch harmonics are really easy, you might not be able to do it properly because you need a fair bit of tone and distortion if you want good sounding pinch harmonics, also string size, if you have 42 gauge - 9 gauge strings it will be alot harder, so change to a higher gauge but not over 50
