True, Laura Petrie was a sexy housewife, but I thought the last seasons of "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie" had 2 of the hottest housewives to ever come down the pike!! Samantha Stevens and Jeannie were rockin' those mini-skirts in the final seasons of those shows, much more sexy than at the start of those series!!!! They just got better with age...
@weenielongus Hot TV moms/housewives (in no particular order): Barbara Eden; Elizabeth Montgomery; Patricia Heaton; Donna Reed; Mary Tyler Moore; Carolyn Jones; Inger Stevens; Courtney Thorne-Smith; the mom on "Karen" (can't recall her name); Diahann Carroll; the woman who plays George Lopez's wife; Katey Sagal . . . those are the ones I came up with at one sitting. Any more to add?
I read that sponsors (General Mills? Kellogs?) lobed to have Jethro eat from an enormous salad bowl. Max Baer, Jr., wasn't so fond of eating all that cereal, however, and would often be too full from the commercial to eat lunch. (He claimed the other cats would intentionally mess up their line sto see how much they could force him to eat.)
This is the insidious old-school technique of making product plugs look like part of the show -- same actors, same characters, same sets. They had been doing it since radio days, right thru into early TV (e.g. the Goldbergs, where the main character Molly G. would just turn toward the camera every 8-10 minutes for 30 seconds or so and recite the sponsor's pitch, "neighbor-to-neighbor." Not sure if this stuff was banned by the FCC, or just fell out of favor, or what, but they don't do it now.
@50zcarsman TV commercials were much more fun that way There are so many ads between the show or movie i forget what i was watching i just want to step on that Gico Geco lizard
Second cousins, in fact. Jed and Pearl were first cousins. But Jethro called Jed "Uncle Jed" and Elly called Pearl "Aunt Pearl" mostly for the sake of convenience.
Elly May sure did,"girl up,"over the years. She was so lovely, natural and could be very sweet.I used to think she was the most beautiful girl on television-from when I was around 10 until I was 21.
Kellogg's was the series' "primary sponsor" during most of its original CBS run, 'travis'- and the cast was expected to "pitch" their Corn Flakes in "integrated commercials" at the end of the Kellogg-sponsored episodes. When R.J. Reynolds was the original "alternate sponsor" during the first five seasons, there was usually a cast plug for "Winston" at the end of THEIR episodes....
Nah, this was so phony it was absurd. Your misspelling is what's funny here -- it's spelled "inbreeding" and "yee haw" for future reference. Reckin' ye grad-e-ated 5th grade?
K-I-N-ITS DOUBLE GOOD KING'S BEST TO YOU, iN SEVERAL EPISODES OF BEVERLY HILLBILLIES THEY SHOW BOXES OF KELLOGGS'S CORN FLAKES WITH THE BRAND BLACKED OUT ITS STILL FUNNY WHEN Jethro crunches on the corn flakes
A great one is where Jed is trying to have a reeeeal long talk with that boy,and cant get a word in edgewise because Jethro is making loud noises eating corn flakes Finally,Jed gets frustrated, and yells,"Jethro, will you quit chomping on those flakes, and listen to me!"
I love old commercials from TV cast integrated into the programs!! I had several posted from "The Andy Griffith Show" around 18 months ago, but someone from Post Cereals objected and it lead to my old account getting suspended. I'd love to post many, many more cast commercials, but I don't know how many are in public domain so I'm holding back quite a few...
All the tv shows of this time period did integrated commercials. I have seen the old Burns and Allen Show sponsored by Carnation Dairy. They would break right into a commercial as if nothing ever happened. There were no commercial breaks like they have now. Andy Griffith Show did the same thing. I Love Lucy as well. All of them did commercial like this. With the advent of DVR and people fast forwarding commercials, tv may go back to commercials integrated into the show.
"K-E-Double L-Oh double good Kellogg's best to you!" John Goodman performed that on "Roseanne", while doing a rap version of "The Ballad of Jed Clampett".
Kellogg's primarily sponsored the series from 1962 through 1969 (at least)- and the cast appeared in "integrated commercials" for their sponsor at the end of the episode. This is a color commercial from the 1966-'67 season (at the time the slogan "Tall Up!" was used for Corn Flakes), as the show was seen in color from the fall of 1965 on...
on one of the episole on BEVERLY HILLIBILLIES, they was eating corn flakes, but the prop man covered the KELLOGG'S logo,on the commercial, the KELLOGG'S label is on.(i forgot what episole on beverly when the KELLOGGS logo was covered up on corn flakes.
Probably the one in which Jed and Granny did a commercial for "Foggy Mountain Soap" which Granny used to pitch her homemade lye soap. This episode was one of number of episodes in which Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs appeared. When the series went into reruns, Kelloggs was no longer a sponsor, hence the deletion of their imprint from the cereal box

Corn Flakes were originally invented by Dr Kellogg as a remedy for chronic masturbation.
