This music is so amazing and powerfull. Thank you clannad for this and other amazing songs you have written and song. Thank you. x
@MatthewGen1 Clannad are Irish certainly. But I heard them being interviewed on the radio, and they said that this tune was Scottish. Not that it matters much, as the Scots and the Irish pinch each others' tunes all the time. Scotland the Brave, for example, is Irish.
@shaggystu100 Translation: I will go East i will go West from whence the sun came. The moon and the sun will go, and the man with his reputation, will go wherever he came from.
Ya know, I'm over here in the US, of recent German and "Hunky" heritage, and can't for the life of me figure out why you Scots and Irish would be arguing.
Nevertheless, I absolutely LOVE this music, which, oddly enough, introduced me to early U2 (which has since changed).
@MattWhatsGoinOn Where did you get the idea that the irish and scots argue? I myself am Irish and never experienced any arguing between the scots and the irish.
@smmeegal Clannad are from Co Donegal in Ireland, from the parish of Gaoth Dobhair (Gweedore). Whenever I'm over in Cloch Cheann Fhaola (Cloughaneely), the neighbouring parish, my mum has "Highland Radio" on in the kitchen and the car. Think that might mean the north of Donegal fancies itself as the Irish highalnds... :-D
Translation I will go east and go west [To the places] from whence came The moon and the sun The moon and the sun will go And the young man With his reputation behind him I will go wherever he came from - The young man with his reputation behind him
i love celtic, galic new age and........... everything about this song! is that so wrong? alot of my friends would be all like "whut the crap is wrong with u? @randomretardedpeanut And when I heard of the anime, I thought of these guys :-). There is some link between the 2. I think the producer of the anime heard of the band, and (mistakenly) thought that "Clannad" meant "family". (It's actually just "Clann". "Clannad" is short for "Clann As Dobhar", which is Irish for "Family from Dore".)
I dont know what it was with Harry's Game, but watched it as a 8-9 years old, and it put a clearly mark in my mind when i hear this song. This series by the way created a lifelong interest in the aspects of the conflict in northern ireland.
I still remember the first time I heard this song on some (US) car commercial when I was like 10 or something (it was the early-mid 90s) and I went CRAZY,. Then I freaked out when I heard it again in Patriot Games. I annoyed my parents until they finally broke down and hooked me up with the cd. love it.
@fenderred1 There is undoubtedly a certain mystery around this song. I know what you mean about the air from your lungs - I sometimes listen to it and have to catch my breath (while the tears well)
