Three years later, its amazing Prop 8 passed, and a relief that ultimately justice prevailed when it was over-turned. Tegan was completely right...in the future California will be remembered for taking this long overdue step.

Canada has had same-sex marriage since 2005!!! They were the 3rd in the world to legalize it after the Netherlands and Belgium. Gays have been allowed to serve in their military since 1992!!! Its time the "Land of the Free" gave equal freedom to all its citizens.

I have yet to hear exactly how gay marriage destroys the "sanctity" of marriage for non-gays, but I guess homophobes will use any delusional excuse to discriminate again gays.

As a Canadian this video (and the comments after it) just make me so so proud! Not saying there aren't homophobic Canadian teenagers (I just went through high school and definitely saw my fair share) but as a country it IS becoming weird to see a gay marriage as any different than a straight marriage really. Especially the kids growing up now - it will be part of their everyday life and hopefully they won't even think of being close minded. Tegan and Sara are an inspiration to this whole ideal!

When my sister came out to my parents, they basically shunned her because they couldn't believe it, but they came around. We all talked about it and now they truly accept her for who she is, and i coudn't be happier for her.

I am straight, but I agree with TnS: It is so digsusting that there is so much racism and cruelty and hate in our world, and I definitely protest against prop 8 because that's just not fair. I have several disabilities and that's like telling me I can't get married because of them. So unfair.

well... there was a proposed amendment to the california constitution that was voted on in november and passed, which changed the definition of "marriage" in the CA constitution to be a union between a man and a woman. however, the california supreme court just heard arguments about whether the amendment can stand... so at the moment, no, gay people can't get married in CA. there were many many who did, and those are still valid. and in the future... we'll see. there's a chance though.

Dude, that's just ridiculous. They talked about Prop 8 at every show they did, and had a booth for the anti Prop 8 people at their shows. Tegan went to every Prop 8 march in L.A. after the election. They posted to their website, Facebook, Myspace, and email list about voting on the amendment several times before the election, and about every protest that happened after. Tegan worked Rock the Vote the day of the election calling voters.
