  • It does'nt sounds good like the massive title RUDHRA I thot wn I heard of rudhra veena I thot it'd b rocking like the MAGNIFICENT SHIV RUDHRA TANDAV. NO OFFENSE

  • Very nice rudra veena my dear friend Hridrajji!!!

  • You will be much happier with a decent pakhawaj player. Look up Mohan Shyam Sharma on youtube, as an example. His playing sounds so different and so much better than what you are playing with here.

  • @celestialwindow What is your primary issue with the Pakhawaj player? I think the problem is the mic and recording equipment rather than the player's skill.

  • Hello. No, it's not the recording. This is a poor pakhawaj player (probably primarily a tabla player). The first and most important issue is that he doesn't know how to properly play "tha", which is one of the primary bol (words) that the drum plays. The real pakhawaj Tha is played gently with the whole hand coming forward and tilting with the pinkie finger side of the palm striking the drum and it rings beautifully. Watch Mohan Shyam Sharma or Manik Munde.

  • Just to follow up--the fact that he doesn't properly play his own drum isn't the only thing that marks him as a poor player, but it is the first issue. Youtube isn't a great forum to have a real discussion, but again, let me direct you to Mohan Shyam Sharma, Manik Munde, Shrikant Mishra (there are other great pakhawajis as well) and get a sense of what great playing sounds like. Mohan Shyamji is on a number of CD's with the late Dagar bros (and now Wasifji). Manikji is on CD with Uday Balwalkar.

  • @celestialwindow Did you notice the Pakhawaj player is left-handed? The stroke you described (conventionally played using the right hand) is not even visible here, since he uses the left hand to play it.

  • amaizing deep blue sea. regards, kieran

  • These clips are too short to provide any impression at all of the performer's artistry. I request longer clips be please uploaded onto youtube.

  • we are working on longer clips with Pandit Divekar on Rudra Veena.
