  • I just got your book for my Kindle last night. You have done a wonderful job making the reader feel like he/she right there in the drumline with you. I've just started reading, but I'm ready to teleport back to 1996 and tell Glenn to suck it up, take the ice pack off of his knee, and start marching!!! Look forward to finishing it. Again, job well done.

  • @jmc647 So glad the Kindle thing is working. Please let me know if there are any formatting problems that effect the reader. So happy you are enjoying the book.

  • The force of Nature has manifested itself into Myron Rosander!!! That's a really crazy story! Love it dude. I think I need to find that book.

  • I'll never forget '96, when Myron pranced around the field during 9 to 9's, singing "Go to sleep... go to sleep" - the guy scared the heck out of me! But he was definitely all about respect. Good luck with your book, Spike!

  • @lindsey4truth I remember the rest of that tune. I included it in the book! hahahaha. I can't listen to that lullaby anymore without thinking of Myron's lyrics.

  • HI Spike, That's a great story about invoking the name of Gail. Gail would not say "bring it in" he said "muster up!" We never called him Gail ONLY Mr, Royer. I marched w/SCV from 1968--1975. It was the greatest time of my life and the hardest--I tell people that I learned more from Gail than I ever did from my parents. My father mortgaged our house to help buy new iniforms in 1970. So many stories I'm glad you wrote yours down. Maybe I'll pick up your book at the Stanford show in June.

  • Thanks so much. It is a wonderful organization.

  • I did not have the good fortune to be a part of Santa Clara Vanguard, but, I have played with many of their alumni. It is truly remarkable how many great musicians have come out of that corps. They must be doing something right. Cheers

  • omg im a rosander!

  • I bought the book at Championships last year and met Spike, he signed the book, which is a great read. Uhm, the topics covered in the book, are really true to maybe not everyone's drum corps experience but still, it was like taking a trip down memory lane. I too marched in corps on the drumline and it really hit home. Jeremy great work, I think you should continue to right. Maybe go on Oprah's book club.......hint hint. Great job man the book brought tears to my eyes at times.

  • you are a true hero!

  • Great stuff Spike, I suggest to anyone reading this to buy the book!

I'm glad I marched with you brother. SC

  • I read the book and Spike says some extremely insightful things in the book. I like to think that he has been able to say things about drumb corps that we were all feeling but not able put into words. Great book Spike. I liked it so much I bought several copies and gave them out as Christmas gifts.
