  • So why wait so long to change? And why the F-bombs and S bombs. Young children might be watching!

  • Changing the plugs on my 1995 Crown Victoria tomorrow and I'm betting they'll look alot like these. The car has 135k miles on it and I have a sinking feeling that the plugs in it now are the OEM ones from '95.

  • @STFpolice1 how much is 24,000 kilometers in American language fuck that euro metric bullshit

  • Christ, you're lucky you even got them out of the head after that long...

  • most new cars that use electronic injection, the computer will try an compensate for any offsets in ignition timing. So you will not feel that your sparks are off firing. but it will adversely effect your fuel consumption and efficiency of the engine. its always a good idea to change spark plugs every 24,000 kms or 24 months.

  • holy shit lol

  • wow ur a fuc----in moron

  • lol I haven't changed them since I bought the car 6 years ago :S:Ss maybe cause I'm a girl :S :). so talked to my dad today and he said that I'm "crazy" lol and that's why my car started struggling when I presss the gas pedal :).. Going to change them right now:)

  • your camera is a piece of shit it aint hard to tell

  • Bet it ran better with new plugs eh? :)

  • Holy shit indeed. What kind of plugs were those? Motorcraft (Autolite) Platinums? If so, I'm getting me a set because obviously, they last forever...

  • Next time, set your camera in macro mode so it will focus on close-up stuff.

  • Are those double platinum or iridium plugs? You NEED to use either double platinum or iridium plugs with distributorless ignitions with waste spark (only half the coil packs per cylinders; ie 6 cyl = 3 coil packs). DIS waste spark plugs need to fire backwards on the exhaust stroke. If you use the an incompatible plug it will widen the gap. No option but to use double platinum or iridium.

  • @wc4pwned They were factory Platinum plugs. I replaced them with the same kind.

  • I am suprised the plug did not vaporize being that old, you must have taken good care of your vehicle.

  • This guy is a badass!!!

    LOOK AT THAT GAP!!!...

    ....Holly Shit

  • That's not even bad, this Buick I had the spark plugs fell apart when I took them out and one spark plug already pushed its way half out and stripped the hole.

  • What made you check the plugs after 180k miles? did it stop running?

  • Just changed the plugs & wires in my '03 3.0 Ranger as a few were shot to shit, and actually arcing against the block. Rough as hell, with horrible vibrations at almost all rpms the last few weeks, and thought I was into a damned fuel pump, or far worse. All plugs had ZERO steel above the ceramic, major ass gap, and I was blown away the SOB even ran after 130k miles on those plugs. SOB runs like a frickin' top now! 130k ain't bad for plugs! Never would have made it that far w/ a carbed engine!

  • center electrode always wears down on copper plugs like that did so many because i have one car that goes through coppers every 25000

  • My plugs looked the same on my (running) '05 Taurus 3.0 SOHV w/150k mi that I just took in. I wondered why i'd been having problems lately :/

Took out my front three to check for soot and didn't even think to look at what the recommended gaps were.

  • i think oil when into ur sparkplug u should check ur seals for better horse power ;)

  • Look at the size of that gap! Holy shit.

  • @Knutterbife that`s what he said!

  • thats exactly what the plugs looked like in my 92 ford f150 straight 6 looked like when i replaced them. it had around 160k miles. previous owners probably didn't take care of it since it was just a work truck.

  • @CountyFarm1 The Iridium plugs are actually designed to last a minimum of 100,000 miles prior to changing them. These modern engines run so my cleaner than the old carb engines. They would last longer if the EGR system didnt exist and kept pumping dirty exhaust fumes back into the plenum for reburn. That black sooty gunk causes a ton of headaches for sensors and air passages. Wish there was a better answer.

  • My '95 Thunderbird went about 265,000 miles.

  • come on fucking camera

  • time for coil packs soon get your wallet ready....

  • Good video but it looks like ur camera needs a tune-up as well!

  • fat end in the slapper thats WHAT SHE SAID LOL

  • I change my spark plugs EVERY 50K miles. I have over 250K on it now (American Vehicle (Xtra Large)

  • LOL...great vid...surprised it even ran that way...bet your plug wires were taking a royal beating and your timing had to be way off late..

  • yeeeeeeeeee a lot af shit

  • That was blurry. I think I need glasses.

  • Worst case scenario I have ever seen , was a Toyota Corolla 2500cc engine that had Ford plugs installed with the proper gap. But the heatrange was so far off that the car wouldn't hardly move when the gas pedal was pressed to the floor. I couldn't turn the car around when working on it. I changed the plugs to the proper Nippendenso plugs , and that engine reved to peak and moved like it was new for over 2 years+. ( not a clutch problem ).

  • I had mitsu galant 2001 never replaced one sold it wonder how they look had 298 k

  • holy shiiiiit!

  • How was it doing the rear plugs?

Did you have to remove the plenum?

    Thanks

  • @TRcustomengineering I did remove the plenum but apparently you can remove the heater vent cowling and rubber seal and the plastic piece beneath the wipers lifts off giving access to the rear plugs. I wanted to take the plenum off anyway to clean it out. Thats in my other "Repairs Finally....." video in my playlist. It wasnt that bad. Just keep track of wires and hoses etc.

  • ummmmmm. HOLY SHIT!

  • You should put the plug in a glass box to keep it as a souvenir =)

  • A friend of mine first changed his in his 2002 Silverado at 225k, still running fine. I did them in my 2000 Silverado 6.0 at 142,000

  • Thanks for the laugh!!! If I had a dollar for everytime I said "holy sh*t" while working on MY wife's car (which I only drive once a year, then repair the laundry list of issues that have been brewing)... Just a FYI though, if you thought the camera was giving you trouble, wait until you have to do the timing chains on this car (I'm already hearing a sequel video with "C'mon f*cking crank pulley!!"). :)

  • I am not as amazed as much at the plug gap as I am with the fact that a ford went 182,000 mi:-@ That is crazy!

  • @12gage12 Its got 205,000+ on it now. Still cranking right along! Its all about how they are maintained. Any car that is...

  • @12gage12 sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up Chevy made the shit list of 2011 and gm FORD WAS NO WHERE IN THAT CATEGORY my pickup has 403k miles and what bitch go take ur shity ass blown header chevy somewhere

  • comon fucking camera

  • i hope you didn't just get the car or i'd be worried about checking the sludge-err oil.

  • Haha LANGUAGE! But i love it;-)

  • This can also happen in fewer miles when using a normal spark plug with a DIS ignition; you're supposed to use dual platinum plugs

  • Can change a plug, can't focus a camera.

  • kind of amazed you got the plugs out

  • LOL

  • you could have adjusted the plugs and put them back in for another 100,000 miles lol

  • I love this video. " c'mon fucking camera" ices the cake. Thanks..

  • lol, i replace mine like every 10,000....and pull them out for cleaning every 2500.........i have too much time on my hands

  • @Texassince1836 every 10.000?

  • A lot less epic than I was expecting.

  • My spark plug gap was like that when I pulled them out of my ranger at a 150,000 miles. I made sure I bought platinum plugs to replace them because it sucked to replace them on the 2.5L 4cylinder motor.

  • First off how the fuck did it run so well or even fire with a gap as big as the oceans abyss? Second, Lol. fuckin camera lol

  • take camera off auto focus for thos close ups :) good vid will be great vid

  • Hey you should prolly change them plugs xD.

  • You are a funny guy who make the video. Do you actual ran 182k mile on the same plugs. That is incredible bro.

  • my cousin had a 91 lumina euro sport 3.1 and he raced my brother in a 90 sable had the 3.0 in it and it hung rite with the lumina but never really pulled ahead. but it was no match for my hungry 1977 silverado. ha ha

  • "look at that gap, holy SHIT." lmao

  • looks like my wifes car! she swears that the oil and everything only need changing at 100k.

  • Thats how our 01 toyota sequoia's plugs were at 131,000 miles. And it ran as good as the day it came off of the assembly line!

  • @Motorfordtoyota The combination of fuel injection and Platinum plugs tends to last quite a while. If you recall, auto makers were quoting "100,000 miles before first tuneup is needed..." back in the 90's?! That appears to be true. Now if only the EGR didnt put black exhaust crud back into the engine they would be even cleaner!!

  • hated my old taurus, at the end it ran on about 2 cylinders, in my old 2 stroke mix, never changed oil, and blew a hole in the trans...whatever i got it for free

  • any more great vids on car repair much appreciated

  • @frankie2234 Absolutely! Check my channel, I have quite a few different videos on DIY vehicle repairs. Anything repair in particular you were looking to get more info on?

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • @frankie2234 Thanks! And many thanks for subscribing!

  • From the looks of that plug they are the original to the car!

  • @Joseph9536 LOL yes they were. Platinum plugs actually last quite a long time, up to 100,000 miles because fuel injected vehicles run so much cleaner.

  • Good video - I was looking for something like this to explain spark plug gap to my 13 year old nephew. Don't worry about the cussing...he's heard WAY more than that from me working on cars! We were cracking up! "Look at the size of that gap..holy shit!"....

  • @gjc866 Hey you're welcome. Sorry about the cussing, I was more shocked than I thought I guess?! it was quite a revelation to see that the car still basically ran great despite the hugely worn plugs!! lol...

  • haha.. ford..

  • lol, ANY import....

  • "Look at that...Look at the size of that gap, Holy Shit..." :)

  • The most embarrassing part is that you drive a Taurus...

  • @sweetlikeADAM Actually, whats more embarrassing is that you not only watched the video, you took the time to comment! Thanks! BTW, this is the wife's car, I drive a Jeep and a 78 Firebird! This Taurus will give ANY import and most American V6's a run for their money. Dont underestimate the Duratec, it'll bite you in the ass and leave you with your mouth hangin open wondering what happened!!

  • @AllThingzVideo Actually, I didn't watch the video. And, actually, most American V6s suck. Until 2009, when Ford came up with the EcoBoost V6 engine, they were shit. Also, the 2011 Mustang V6 engine will be great.

  • that's funny how you say holy shit! :)

  • this is why you should buy a gm and not a garbage ford

  • @dublyooteeeff Worn plugs have nothing to do with vehicle manufacturer?! I actually own 2 Pontiac's, an Oldsmobile, a Jeep, and a Ford. They ALL have their own issues. The Ford and Jeep have actually performed the best for the longest. The GMC Jimmy I had was the WORST as far as quality of build and constant repair issues. Its all in how they are maintained and driven.....simple as that.

  • @dublyooteeeff Garbage Ford? Who was it that went bankrupt? Oh right, GM! Who is known for shitty low quality parts and an interior that falls apart? Oh right, GM! Need I say more?

  • @daytonite122 Right on!! And right now, no body beats Ford's lineup

  • @midlantic1 I know, man! I had a Chevy Silverado 1500 for a year & spent 3000 dollars in repairs! Only 8k miles. Had to replace the wiper pulseboard, then the ring to control the wipers. Then, a few months later, my A/C compressor failed, new key lock cylinder as the truck wouldn't start some times, then a new alternator, which took the Chevy dealership three times time to get it right as the the first two were DEFECTIVE because of GM's shitty sautering job. Something with the diodes.

  • @daytonite122 80k, my bad

  • @daytonite122 Wow dude, now that's a nightmare. I'll tell ya, I always bought Ford trucks. Though once I figured I'd buy the Silverado, I'm thinking 95 or so. Dude, after a year it sounds like I was driving in a tin can. Everything was pinging and knocking in the body. GM's metal is paper thin. When you compare to Ford's body it's night and day. The Ford's are so much heavier in the steel gauge and the fit and finish on the F-150 and up can't be beat. Fords lineup now has something for everyone

  • yea, i seen big gaps and still runs fine. Because the spark voltage are soo strong that can jumped over easy. i learn in college school that spark plug can jumped over 2.5inch easy. i was shocked! spark plug possable can kill people, mostly spark can reach high 20,000volts to 40,000volts. taster gun can kill people and it create 50,000volts. The coil package ( waste spark) are better designed to create higher volts to spark than distributor cap spark.

  • if you don't change the spark plugs will that be a cause for a car to shake and accelerate slower than usual?

  • my dad had about 250k before he replaced his :)

  • hahahah that is some weird shit!

  • "c'mon fuking caMERA" quote of the day

  • @raptorms Haha yeah! I laugh every time I hear that part too! My camera is a piece of shit at close-ups! Pisses me off!! LOL

  • @raptorms He had no macro ability so.....

  • @raptorms Must be an old camera if it can't focus on stuff that close.

  • If its not broke don't fix it........jk. I would've pooped myself if those came out of my engine!

  • lol,

  • Why is this rated so badly? i thought it was very entertaining and informative.

  • this guy sounds like bob ross the painter when he talks about his gap lol

  • thats gotta be the dumbest thing iv ever heard

  • What a gap, never saw anything like that before lol

  • If that car was still running half decent with those plugs... you can bet your ass that ignition system is in top shape, seen as it was able to spark that gap OK...

  • It was actually running GREAT!...I changed them anyway along with some other stuff (see other vid) Its 187,000+ now and still going strong! I still deal with a "dead pedal" symptom while warm from a stand still but other than that it still has plenty of balls and scoots right along! no complaints...been a GREAT car! It owes me nothing! Ill drive it till the wheels fall off!..hahaha

  • @AllThingzVideo lay down a rubber road right to freedom

  • Might want to get some new plugs, LOL.

  • How hard was it to pull out the plugs? Did it feel like you had to torque on they pretty hard?

  • No, not really. You'd figure after being in there so long they would come out hard but they backed right out, no problems.. I did spray a little PB Blaster in the hole and let it soak a few minutes first but I couldn't do that on the back ones because of firewall clearance. It didn't matter though, they came right out anyways....Thanks

  • OMG! thats amazing! I ve never seen anything that outta gap b4. awesome find
