Same here. I doubt Albert knows how much that song means to some of us. I was in California 72-76. Broke and alone. Looking back now...what a wonderful life and a great time it was! Sometime shortly after this song hit I discovered a wealth of friends. Wonder where they are now? They will forever live in my heart, I love them all. Listening to this song, I can still feel the wind from the ocean on my face and smell the salt in the air. Forever young.
habs selber rausgefunden. es ist der legendaere Rainer Holbe mit seinem perfekten Englisch. haha, hat den gleichen Lehrer wie Gaydo Westerwelle gehabt
Reminds me of a time when there was not that much good music going around, ie Beautiful Balloon, Raindrops keep falling on my head; tip toe through the tulips; timeless alright.
@gameshowluvr86 Their "version"? They're two completely different, unrelated songs that happen to have the same name. You probably prefer Usher's "version" of "My Way" over Frank Sinatra's, too.
One of the most successful songwriters in the 70s and beyond. He's written so many hits for himself and others for many decades. He's also such a natural story teller. To me this song is his best from that 70s era. Not the best singer, but the BEST song written by one of the BEST songwriters in the world ... ever. Love him!
@CloudClimber7 Oh, what gave it away? The fact that there's no microphone anywhere near him, or the fact that he's playing along to the studio version?
The first time I heard this song was on the headphones on a Lufthansa jet flying from Frankfurt to Vienna. When the song was over, the DJ said "And that was the hit tune 'It Never Rains in Southern California.' Is that true? I don't know. I've never been there."
Albert Hammond is such a great artist! he's a master, a genius! still being ovationed in Europe (of course if America lately only praises shitty 'music' like Gaga and Bieber's) ..This man must have been so full of artistic genes that he was able to procreate a son who has A LOT of talent and who actually looks like him!! That is unusual, father and son both good artist! very rare!!!! however Albert junior has a long road to run, and we can't compared they're both great (I love the strokes)
i come from england where it rains every third day (giving us beautiful green scenery) and this song seemed so far removed from us-despite some radio exposure it didnt chart at all and Free Electric Band only made 19 in 73 but i bought them both because of their sad but wonderful lyrics-they are both great songs and i am going to try and track down some more-I hope he is doing well...thanks
Tony! Toni! Tone!'s song title of the same name is FAAAAAAAAARRRR FAR better, better sung, shit, SOUNDS better! This shit SUCKS ASS!! Albert who? HAHAHA FAILED, FLOP artist...that's who!!!
Albert sings this melody very well. I love this song, but there is something in the lyrics which tinge the poetic lines with something sad, nostalgic, tragic perhaps.
@tboneonthedobro To be honest, we could do do without Califofnia. It is all poltics with me. I was a quarter away from from a a B.A. in politicial science and Jimma blew that all to hell.

Always one of my favorite 70's songs. Why can't modern music being memorable like this? I mean, how many songs today on the radio will people be able to look back and say 'Oh man I remember that song! Loved it!'?
I heard this song playing in a small grocery in Shanghai today. Wouldn't you know it, it was overcast outside. But the Chinese folks sure looked cheerful pushing their carts around to this song...

Due to the fact that it's been raining for 4 out of the last 6 days in southern california, the song need to be re-written to: it never rains in southern california*

Due to the fact that it's been raining for 4 out of the last 6 days in southern california, the song need to be re-written to: it never rains in southern california*
*During the months of July and August. June is conditional and depends solely on the weather in May.
