been racing track since i was 10 years old and ive had crashes like that before. i got 5 concussions two of which within a week and tons of road rash. you gotta love it though. my favorite ( and best) event is the keirin.

@monkybit if they did have brakes, the strength of braking from person to person would be more irregular, facilitating more collisions. Also, when you're traveling 50 mph and you're that close together, there's no chance you'll get out

@monkybit brakes aren't allowed on velodromes because they cause more crashes than they prevent. Stopping is done by the legs resisting the forward rotation of the cranks.
