But in the context of modern day society, US gun laws are much too liberal and take the whole concept of personal freedom too far IMO.

I think police are actually meant to "shoot to kill".. pretty sure they're not allowed to just shoot them in the legs or whatever.. they're only meant to use their guns in extreme circumstances, and it's shoot to kill. But 11 times is fairly intense.
If you aim a gun, or something that looks like one, at a cop, I think you should expect to be shot. Cops are hugely outnumbered by criminals. If they waited for the offender to shoot first, even if only one in ten did actually shoot, cops would be massacred. OTOH offenders and cops alike will give stories that paint them in the best possible light. The offender is dead. Are the cops squeaky clean? We can't know. Were there any independent witnesses? One thing for sure - don't aim a gun at a cop!

Unless the guns were automatic in which they would have fired in 3 bullet bursts which is highly unlikely cause the math doesn't add up it does seem rather over kill to fire 14 shots between 3 cops.

It was 3 officers. And in training they are taught if there is a gun pointed at them and they do not comply. Protect yourself and their fellow officers. There are many variables. But the ones I will focus on are the owners. I myself am a responsible gun owner. I enjoy target shooting whenever I have free time. But whenever those guns are not in my possession they are locked away in a 1 1/2 ton safe in my basement which is also bolted down to the concrete floor. I think police are actually meant to "shoot to kill".. pretty sure they're not allowed to just shoot them in the legs or whatever.. they're only meant to use their guns in extreme circumstances, and it's shoot to kill. But 11 times is fairly intense.

If you aim a gun, or something that looks like one, at a cop, I think you should expect to be shot. Cops are hugely outnumbered by criminals. If they waited for the offender to shoot first, even if only one in ten did actually shoot, cops would be massacred. OTOH offenders and cops alike will give stories that paint them in the best possible light. The offender is dead. Are the cops squeaky clean? We can't know. Were there any independent witnesses? One thing for sure - don't aim a gun at a cop!

Unless the guns were automatic in which they would have fired in 3 bullet bursts which is highly unlikely cause the math doesn't add up it does seem rather over kill to fire 14 shots between 3 cops.

When an officer is obliged to open fire, it's shoot to kill.
This is the only reasonable use of lethal force. If they weren't meant to wield lethal means they would not have service pistols.
Whether he was shot once, twice or 14 times it really does not matter. If the officers (the pistol mag holds only 13 rounds so it was obviously more than one officer) decided this guy was going down, he was going down and out. Sucks but, that's what happens when you threaten a peace officer's life.

They are our friends. They have helped us achieve the level of entertainment and medical field we have today. Without Israel we would be at least 10 years behind, if not more. Some of the best technical achievements in the world have come from Israel. I love Israel for the courage they have shown throughout history. As does America, obviously. And to tell you how many times I needed a gun I can think of a few. One time a guy broke into my house with a knife but at the time I didn't own a gun, instead I had to fight him with an aluminum bat. If not for sheer luck I could have been killed. Now I own a gun and I do feel a lot safer with one. It's yours and mine and our God given right to defend ourselves and our homes. Bad people will get guns regardless of laws. He was going to murder me and my family, and should I have "killed" him in self defense then I wouldn't have thought twice of it. I swung my bat and broke him arm and he dropped the knife, the cops were already right outside because he passed out in my neighbors yard and walked into my house.

We give police a state or federal budget in which they buy things like helicopters and hire such people as negotiators to help them in the best way possible. Unfortunately police do die while in duty but thats what they signed up for. 14 times is understandable becouse it's in large debate around Australia and the us that police cannot handle firearms under certain circumstances and need to be disarmed and givin a safer alternative ie capsicum spray and tasers. anyway graham good job 5/5.

It was 3 officers. And in training they are taught if there is a gun pointed at them and they do not comply. Protect yourself and their fellow officers. And people don't realize in a life or death situation just how many shots you can squeeze off in a few seconds when the adrenaline is pumping. Those officers did the right thing .

There are many variables. But the ones I will focus on are the owners. I myself am a responsible gun owner. I enjoy target shooting whenever I have free time. But whenever those guns are not in my possession they are locked away in a 1 1/2 ton safe in my basement which is also bolted down to the concrete floor. Now many gun owners buy decorative cabinets for them made out of wood with a nice glass window. We will just call them dumb asses. That is how criminals get guns.

lol..no it wouldn't be hard because like i said there criminal organizations all over the country that deal specifically in arms...again..the weapons that are stolen form homeowners and then used are very low..they get their guns from people who smuggle them into this country..just like drugs..taking guns from people who have the right to defend themselves and their families only makes said people more vulnerable to crime..it may work where you live it most certainly won't here.

cause many people dont have those connections
and criminal organisations wont sell guns to a small criminal .
unless they can get guns by the dosins .
but ofcourse they cant .
