@wrestlefan1: Sorry....i had to break my repose into 3 parts, because of the character limit. I hope you understand what I was saying. Send me a message if you want to talk more about this (email) wrestlingcoach2009@gmail.com
The strength of this move its in the over hook, and in the hips. A real good over hook allows for this move to work best, with trying to visualize taking your opponents shoulder to the mat, (the one trapped in your over hook) and good fast hips! But i will go back and say to you, that if you are getting this move to work and it is not EXACTLY like the coach is asking it to be done, you are still doing it and going it good.
@wrestlefan1.....NO. having your feet together doesn't make it better, however there a re a lot of ways wrestlers have executed this lateral drop, and not all of them are "cookie cutter" techniques. I teach that move (and a all the other throws i teach) with feet at shoulder length apart or a little less. I always teach it that way.
@Brudog219 That's the way I did mine in highschool. Almost always from someone coming in on a single, whizzer up, toss. Check out the video on the homepage of my channel. Its the one-arm lat drop instead of over/under
Wolf...no doubt it wasn't the tightest or best, however what I teach my kids is the importants of the over hook and being tight above the elbow to trap that shoulder and get the needed leverage, and i did have a death grip on that overhook :)
@dffl31 yousound like you have a good knowledge of this technique..let me ask you a question.. to do this move, do you want your feet together or apart.. When I do this move I step to the side and my rear foot comes in the middle of his feet.. then i do the throw.. but my coach in HS always used to complain that i had bad form (and was doing it wrong), but the throw always worked.. so does having you feet together help the throw or somethin?
@nemo73788 hmm whats your name? just out of curiousity. i wrestle for holt and freddie rodriguez is proly gonna be a 4 timer. kids got a good work ethic, hell we all do.
sure youre a 4 time state champ. thats the biggest load of shit. ive been wrestling for 6 years and ive only gotten to regionals once. i fucking hate when kids say shit like that
one of my favorite moves, and it doesn't take much muscle. The snap at the beginning of the shot will give you the perfect pressure when your opponent recovers. Nice throw, by the way. Im gonna be honest, until the finish, it didn't even look like you had the over-under.

Plenty of lat drops are successful with different looks, and there is no ONE-SET-WAY to get it. make sense?

thats sick. but kinda loose. at like :07 or :08 your overhook is slippin

just get under overs and a simpler version you can drop to your side and up
lazyskittles 3 years ago
that's the best place to hit a lat from...off defence to a single. just throw in the whizzer and bring it up into the overhook and toss
jrhewitt1988 3 years ago 2
thats ture but u do need alot of hip muscle though and sometimes good momentum almost like a head and arm toss

Its all technique. I was one of the weakest wrestlers on my team yet i got that move very often in practice when we were going live.
musicalmike235 3 years ago
u dont have to be strong to do that just good hips and some pressure from your opponent
