I just saw this film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Really well done, didn't know much about Mark Sandman going into this, I thought it was a very powerful film about a band that might have been forgotten if it was not for the work of these filmmakers that really put their heart into a great doc about a great band that few (myself included), might have never known about. It's a wonderful look into the process of a highly creative musician, that come far and few these days.
everytime i start my car MORPHINE plays full blast on my way to work and back, and everyday now for the past year, i never get tired of it, thank you for the music Mark, we miss you, RIP
@asifineededaname I am going on ten years and still no sign of losing interest. Morphine will be with me to the day I die. Zep were my band growing up (They hold a special place in my heart) but Morphine has taken over as my favorite band of all time. I spread the gospel wherever I can.
wow I used to use cure for pain as one of my old radio show names and the song as the into...you could always hear it in their music..no wonder I felt such a strong connection to em back in the day..just seeing a quick glimpse of his history...so much loss...sadly I know it all too well
Morphine were such a cool band, totally original. I remember feeling really cut up when I heard Mark had died. When I listen to them now I often wonder what would have happened to Morphine had he not died. The worlds a slightly less interesting and empty place without him and the music of Morphine. The documentary looks amazing.
I can't believe I just stumbled upon this. I gotta see this movie. Thanks for posting. Mark was an original and amazing musician and will always be missed. Cure for Pain is one of the most perfect recordings I've heard...
I went to a concert in Portland in the mid 90's where Morphine was one of the groups playing. After being stunned by the trio, I had to go get their music on CD's and myself, my wife and many freinds have been listening to them ever since. It's not for all occasions in life but when it's right, it's sooo right!
Saw them play in 1996 and was so very impressed. Their sound and poetry continues to be one of the things that makes like worth living. A cure for pain.
I got to see this movie at the Full Frame Film Festival last weekend and I can attest that it is quite good. I hope the film makers are able to get a distribution deal so it can get out to a wider audience.
@pdeere436 don't know. they told us that before the festival in Rijeka it was shown only in Italy. Didn't seen anyone ''catching it on tape'' either . I hope it will pop up somewhere on the internet soon..wanna see it again
Such a beautiful tribute to someone we lost in the music scene, now I will admit I am 16 and born in 94' so I wasn't aware of sandman's passing until late mid teens after picking up and hearing the entire cure for pain and learning of his tragic fate saddens me as a fellow musician(Bass) and such giant influence to me.... LONG LIVE SANDMAN I will always tear up when I hear The Night (song)
@HAhaUDied13 I'm not the oldest (32) fart in the world.... but it's great to see that every generation loves Mark Sandman... All of his CD's (all 14 that I own) remain in my truck, and there is always one in the player. What a cure for life's pain!!!
Beautifully edited trailer for what looks to be a truly excellent production. Great to see all these respectable musicians praising Morphine and Mark Sandman. Great to see the comments from Conan and Stewart. Great to hear the music and catch a glimpse into what helped drive this incredible musician. He is terribly missed in Boston, and, I'm sure, all around the world. Can't wait for this film. Will BUY this DVD! Buena, buena, buena, GOOD-GOOD-GOOD!!
I heard that most of his songs were autobiographical. If this is the case the man had one horrific life.

Morphine. And that's what it is. Balm for the troubled soul. Thank-you Morphine for lasting music an such memorable live performances.

I wonder when this comes out. Given that there are reviews for it though, it's probably on a festival circuit right now.
Also, even if Watt is playing with them now, it still seems weird that they label him as a member of the Stooges instead of the Minutemen.
