Let me just add too that what you mostly hear in EDM is synthesizer and what do you use to play a synthesizer? Your hands are playing on the midi keyboard exactly like a piano. Like the electric guitar to the acoustic guitar, the midi keyboard is a descendant of the piano. You can add effects & tricks in just like an electric guitar but in the end it's just a simple guitar. Same thing with keyboard; just a different instrument. EDM is piano music. <3 :)

I'm entertained when people say Deadmau5 dosent make good music. At least he writes his own material. That's talent. Anyone can pick up a guitar and learn a song in time and get good. Now! To sit at a computer with all the right tools and write your own material from them takes talent. @Laurentiu909 Yeah... when you're producing music you typically have to create the sound using a synthesizer, which would be the equivalent of essentially creating the type of guitar. Then you would have to put in the chords or notes, much like strumming them. Then you'd add a bassline, kick, hats, claps, snares/whatever etc.

That is called producing. DJing would be lining up two songs that you didn't create to the same BPM and then adding some filters and effects.

Good producers like deadmau5 create their own sounds from scratch (manipulating sounds waves, filters, etc.) which requires much more creative talent than playing guitar and singing. I play piano as well, but learning to produce well is a much more daunting challenge because music isn't put in front of you. An analogy is being given the blueprints to a house rather than solely the materials.

@Laurentiu909 I understand what you are saying, I am a new producer from the UK and I usually make Dubstep/Drum and Bass/House/Garage/Chillstep (Check out my channel if you want), and I will happily say from experience too that both are relatively hard. I am teaching myself how to play guitar so I can make a complete acoustic album with a loop pedal, yet again I am producing some very dark or as some people like to say 'filthy' stuff, its great mixing it up and people shouldn't be limited.

The guitar has been with us since the Hitties, it is a older type of instrument. Electronic-House has the beauty of being very hard and sophisticated to make at times, yet it always turns into something notable. I've been playing for half my life, and I can say it's far much more of a physical and mental strain then making stuff like Deadmau5. With that said, I'm not saying it doesn't take talent to make this kind of music. Sure anyone can pick up and play, just as you can this stuff...but it takes dedication and patience to be good. Guitar is far much more versatile than computer generated music.
