  • part of me wonders if they know what it is they're parodying. But I did enjoy the soloists

  • part of me wonders if they know what it is they're parodying.

  • Wow, too many people that couldn't pull this off. I understand that this was a theatre workshop, so I realize that these kids are just having fun. But Forbidden Broadway was not meant for rookies, it destroys the comedy. So I don't like the staging, singing or acting, but most importantly this could have been spared by better play choice.

Still for a workshop, it was... ok

  • goodness my high school drama class did better! she didnt even sing the high note! man i did that its pretty easy gosh thats was terrible.

  • The soloists was brilliant, but the rest was mediocre.

  • Tenors are where it's at! Basses are okay, bit the tenor voice is the voice that will land you jobs.

  • Bah the fucking tenors are always loved. D:

    Basses need love too...

  • I love basses! You guys rock my socks!

  • wow bravo to the male lead! those are really high notes to hit on that solo and you nailed it! fantastic!!!

  • ha ha :)

  • The sopranos and altos did a lovely job, but I really must commend the tenors and and basses sound phenomenal. Particularly considering some of the younger cast must have been going through some vocal changes.

  • The guys sound really good ;)

  • very nice job

  • the chorus sing out of time after the soloists have finished and just before the harmonies in the chorus sound a bit off :/

But the soloists are really good and it is still a good choral number

  • I thought that the soloists were good. lol...this song is hilarious

  • this is.. OKAY. there's always room for improvement. GOOD JOB, THOUGH!.

    i'll give a comment..may i?

the director could have taught you guys to sing your vowels rounder and taller..its natural for filipinos to have a wide and spreaded vowel. but you could always work on it.

    thanks.

  • Oh yes, you COLLEGE students did better than a group of kids in a WORKSHOP. You must be so proud...

  • DUH!!! These were kids in a workshop, not a college group. Next time you comment, make sure it's not stupid.

  • the guy soloist was haaaaattt

  • WOW

    the guy solo was AMAZINGGG!!!!!!!!!

    WOWOWOWOWOW

  • Someone was flat in the chorus and I'm not sure if that guy at the front at the end was supposed to be shy or not. But hey, nice solos guys!

  • Awesome soloists!

  • i love this!

  • every time i think about if being gone forever i almost cry because that means nobody can experince the greatness of it on stage rather then the movie, i mean the movie is good but the play is exceptional and no future generations will ever be able to experiance it

  • well you feel the way you feel, and i respect your opinion but there is no need to be rude

  • oh come on. nobody likes a musical theater hardass. i myself love the obscurer stuff - assassins is my favorite. but nobody can truly deny that rent was an excellent show. maybe not compared to others, but think of it this way - it brought in an audience to theater like none had ever known. it introduced people to theater who otherwise may never have seen a broadway show because they could relate to the characters, the plot, and most of all, the music. thats something to be grateful for, huh?

  • hah pretty good

    the soloists were amazing!!!!!!!!

    especially the boy.

  • I'd rather see them do some native dancing

  • majorly out of tune for the most part

  • pretty good

  • THE CHORUS WAS VERY OFF.. and i was dreading the solosits.. then BAM.. they were great... GOOD JOB..

  • The chorus was a bit off, but awesome soloists.

  • the boy soloist was amazing.

  • can you say strong voices! great jobs! haha

  • Oh my goodness! that shorter woman has such a big voice! i was amazed

  • I'm so jealous!!! This was awesome!! Everyone was so into it and good. My drama program has some really lethargic people who make me wonder why they're on stage. 5/5!!!

  • Fantastic soloists.

    x

  • Your soloists killed 'em. :D

  • I'm listening to one of the Forbidden Broadway CD's right now, and this just rocks!

  • I LOVE FORBIDDEN BROADWAY!

  • ...or June 1st.

  • Sept.7th...they postponed it.

  • i know! i cant believe it i was so depressed the day i found out... tearteartear!

  • will there not be a revival ever?

  • Or September 7th. Get the facts straight if you're going to try and correct somebody. It was june 1st but they extended.

  • "Anyway, our show was Forbidden Broadway. Basically it's excerpts of different plays. Only we spoofed these plays."

forbidden broadway is a spoof. they spoof it. you sing it.

    was really good tho

  • guys, i have seriously thought of a career in musical theatre but the problem is that my parents don't seem to like it as much as i do. i've wanted to go to a musical theatre workshop but my dad says "its expensive" when it really isn't. my mom says that they always say bad things about actors. i really love musical theatre and don't know what to do. can i get you're opinions please.

  • Do amature theatre, it will show your serious and give you alot of experience. Then maybe your parents might be willing to pay for a course if you show that commitment.

  • That was really gr8!

You've inspired me to do my own parody of something now

(I probably won't & even if I do it won't go on Youtube but it'll still be a load of fun trying :) )

  • who was the guy at the very left in the yellow t-shirt? He wassnt very animated.

  • The soloists are AWESOME x

  • Your voices were great. Everyone here could've been singing the original RENT score; however, the purpose of Forbidden Broadway is to take it a step further and to parody it. And this performance didn't really resound with that.

But, that said--GREAT singing. I'm assuming that everyone here sings unadulterated musical theater and I can't wait to hear all of you out-and-about!

  • wow you guys i couldn't understand a thing you guys were saying prouninciation and projection!......PLEASE!

  • the harmonies sucked!!

  • Haha. Funny... but... no thanx.

  • wtf

  • The male soloist was great. Everything else was a little worthless.

  • I thought that the female soloist was better than the male.

  • She was just so raw..like "Here are the notes" and that was it, and whenever she tried to put some soul on it, it just sounded awkward to me. He was more natural and more soulful.

  • Yeah, she did need some work, She started out a little rough, but got better as she progressed (for the whole 5 seconds). I do think that the male was more trained than she was, but I liked the sound of her voice more.

  • Yep..all she needs is more training and just to own it more. 5 seconds...haha.

  • shocking singing, shocking staging...comedy's hard...don't do it if you can't act....they can't!!

  • It's a summer workshop. So everyone here are all rookies of theater. So No need to hate us. I'm sure you were also once a beginner.

  • @AndreCalixtoMusic I like it, don't mind the haters! I'm sure they can't do anywhere near as good!

  • @Gezzabelle80 yes they are bad

  • i think you sounded good

  • what was up with the random wave at :51?

  • Rent is a good show fyi.

  • yeah, there are a ton of bad notes, but I think the parody loses its punch with such a large cast.

  • Yeah i know. haha!! but oh well this is a summer workshop. so most of the cast here aren't really singers they just did this play for fun, but thanks for the Tip:)

  • ok the choir was crap, the girls were sharp and the boys flat, BUT, the soloists...she had the right quality, not enough training, but HIM! WOW! he was AWESOME!!!!

  • Oh no! Loads of bad notes! Otehrwise good =)

  • sounded like a bunch of tone deaf kindergardeners

  • A few people are very, VERY off on some of the notes, but otherwise, this parody was wonderful!

    ~~Nao

  • It's great to hear young Pinoys getting into and learning theater and not just trying to be stars on TV.

  • this was good
