  • Thought I'd check What JR No.1 was up to and saw this vid. Coincidentally I came across this video while his memorial is happening LOL. Good cover

  • At last! Now I finally know the lyrics to that song after all these years...

I never was a MJ fan, probably because he was overplayed, but he did put out a lot of good tunes...

  • What a wonderful interpretation of an all time classic song. Beautiful tribute John.

  • I injoyed the sanging of caetano velosio- billy jean, he did good. MJ was a part of all of us , he will be missed, thank's for the video

  • regardless of the scandal & drama of the later years he undeniably made some of the best pop music ever. that should be his legacy.

  • Caetano Veloso is one best and most respected Brazilian singers on earth. The famous Brazilian singer Milton Nascimento also did a cover, he sung Beat It on his album Crooner.

  • Why use someone besides MJ to sing!?!!?

NO ONE CAN DO IT LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON!

  • You are gonna have a little trouble making him sing a song right now...

  • LOL

  • May he rest in peace, and our generation will alwys have deep connections to his music. Good to see ya vloggin vinyl again John. great using that ole raytube, for your vid!

  • "Off the Wall" was always my faveorite Michael solo album too. He was only 2 years older than me, so growing up, I just adored the "five"...So unfortunate that he became such a creepy adult...I agree with the title of this vid John!! I too am afraid that his cardiac arrest was as a result of drugs. Your skills never cease to amaze me! Love ya, Ang

  • You're probably right ...

  • Sadly, another tragic Elvis story Mother.

  • I think you're probably right John.

Interesting version of Billy Jean :)

  • The creativity that so many artists come up with as they cross genres when doing covers astounds me :)

  • Well, that pretty much has to be the BEST MJ tribute EVER! And the song was good too.

  • Ever man, ever!

  • R.I.P. Roger the Dispatcher!

Oh, wait a minute, where am I now? :)

  • Can't say I was a fan for many reasons but I do remember cancelling the rest of my day and making sure I was near a TV when the Thriller video was first broadcast!

  • Caetano Velosio is awesome and I agree, Off The Wall was and still is a swirling, exuberant album which continues to be a pleasure to listen to.

It hurts me that he went from such a fresh-faced talented young man to a sadly eccentric and likely perverted person.

  • There was an article saying that we see in these celebrities what we want to see in them. We see what we dream to be, then subconsciously wish to see what we fear the most. Scary.

  • right on ! As a fellow child-o-80's, I had the red leather jacket with the zippers. (a payoff when my parents divorced)

Damn, remember when Pac-Man came out ?

(always associate MJ with that game)

    ~be well

  • They used to call me "No Jacket Required" in school (from Phil Collins' album) because I wore that jacket all the time!

I have memories of playing PacMan in an arcade. I love being a child of the Eighties :)

  • Caetano Veloso is splendid. Bossa Nova as a musical force is under-appreciated in the US. Selecting him as a tribute to MJ shows you have great discernment and sophisticated taste, Mr. johnreagannumber1.

  • I agree :)

  • I miss you guys!

  • This is a true wow moment. You have such a way with words. Thank you so very much. You're a beautiful person Phil.

  • Talented man, but I have no respect for someone who would do that to his face. We should all be proud of what we are, where we come from and how we look. Still, I am very sad. RIP.

  • Your comment gave me chills and hits home regarding being proud of who we are and where we come from. This news hit me very sudden, never thought it would happen.

  • You know, it didnt cross my mind under that light, I was just thinking about what he did about his looks.....and the fact he was in financial trouble and yet the most "humble" rental home he could find was $100,000 a month was "funny". I guess money and fame do that to you.

  • Reagan, call me at my cell....DALE

  • D.A.L.E !! Just missed this comment by less than 40 minutes. Calling you tonight :)

  • We have no proof of any of the charges brought against him. We do have proof that he created some of the most iconic and generation defining music of the 20th century. Id prefer to remember him for the things i know to be true.

  • Iconic and defining to the point that newer groups like Timerlake, Britney, Usher all were inspired by him. Pop is moving to more James Brown type entertainment and we can thank MJ for that.

  • You guys are greatly missed. Ahhhhhh the good ol day lol

  • Thank you!

  • LilCav68 EXPOSED!!!

  • She'll be on UtubeDrama in seconds!

  • Wow, is that site even still around? LOL

  • LOL yes I was trying to find gossip just last night ;)

  • Holy shit, this version is fantastic.

    Bossa nova, FTW!

  • Gorgeous concert to enjoy with some wine :)

  • That was a different take for sure... LOL.

  • mARIA, you were totally doing the samba while this played. I just know it.

    :-)

  • Well, yes. lol

  • I allways thought he died after the pepsi commerical horrors. He never sounded the same after that nor acted the same.Though your idea on the drugs is probley what happened to him.I think he had a rough life as a kid and it followed him all his life.Great cover in this too.

  • John Lennon once said that Elvis died after he went to the Army. Both Elvis and Jackson were very tortured souls.

  • So many ppl are but i guess it takes ppl like them to mold the pain and suffering in to wonderful things.

  • Well done John. I wasn't a huge fan of Thriller either, but his dancing was second to none. Such a sad story....

  • He was a legend, I remember dancing for hours and weeks to the album Man in the Mirror with my friend when I was a child. I still find myself enjoying his songs when they come on the radio.

  • His personal life is a tough one to deal with, and can't be seperated from his life-long fame. Despite the things he did that were inappropriate in a normal persons eyes-he also becomes a figure that for me demands sympathy. A victim of his own life and childhood-he never recovered from that, never had normality. I firmly believe he was a loving person who didn't understand the harm he may have been doing.

RIP Michael Jackson, he'll remain as immortal as Elvis or Lennon. God bless him.

  • There's a song I don't think of much, yet is incredibly catchy. I think we've all danced to something by Michael Jackson and that's what makes him the legend that he was.

  • Just to correct myself the album was Bad! Man in the Mirror was on there. I loved dancing to Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal- the drama was brilliant! The Way You Make me feel is the one that most often gets played on the radio these days (before now-when every TV/radio station is playing nothing but MJ songs!)

  • Babe, that list is a tribute in it's own right and quite a trip down memory lane for me! It was also fitting that we've been watching Off The Wall and Rock With You :)

  • that south american cover sounded very cool... i loved the arrangement.

  • It's such a plaintive version of the song, and couldn't be a more perfect cover in my opinion.

  • I think now that he's gone, everyone will flock to buy or download his music and that is how he will get out of debt...in death.

I absolutely Brazilian music, his version is so sexy...was he wearing lipstick? maybe just alot of chapstick. Either way glad you postged this!!

  • You're so right Furni.

And that's indeed some awesome samba that most people haven't seen :)

  • Sad day for music lovers, happy day for little boys.

  • Yup!

  • ROFL
