very nice. rendition, lovely tempo..... reading the other comments, I really had no problem with the vowels, what struck me as odd was how you pronounced the T in "water" the american way, but then you prounounced the T in "Center" the brithish way, so that was kind of odd to me...
This is just... OMG just LOVELY!!! A few things though; as people have mentioned before, some of the vowels are a little too bright. Also (this is just a personal bias), some of the prettier chords could have been held longer (i.e. the "within" chord at 3:27). And there's parts I think should have been slowed down as well. But other than that, this is one of the BEST renditions I've heard! Blend and diction are excellent, and those TENORS! Such rich voices!!! I give this 9.8 out of 10. GOOD JOB!
@CharlieBladeRemus thanks for your comment! It's always difficult for a non-English choir to do English texts, especially going for an american version (I think Norwegians are more comfortable with British pronunciations).
Glad you enjoyed the recording. Watch out for our new CD coming out next year :)
the only thing I would be picky about as an adjudicator if I had to judge this choir, is there is too my 'i' 'and not enough 'aw' in many of the 'a' and 'i' vowels, but other wise great job. This choir has phenomenal sound and blend!!
I think this is the best recording on youtube of Water Night!!! Tenor section was really fantastic. The altos are have such a rich blend. And the choir really has great dynamic contrast. only thing I could say is that there were a few voewls that sounded weird. ("silence and solitude")
but bravo. beautiful performance. Whitacre would be proud.
