  • you sound like a hillbilly

  • i've never seen a more retarded person...

  • @sailorz7 so you don't shave in front of a mirror?

  • haha fuckin idiot.... thats what you get when you anchor in the middle of a course.. this is why people like you who think they're 'boaters' should get off the water.

  • This video was posted by a friend of mine. The fishermen were there first, quite a while before the race started. They had no indication that they were in the middle of the race area. NOTHING was marked. I feel the sail boaters were just plain rude and had no care for safety by coming that close. Even if you are in control you should not get that close.

  • You should hire Bob Sagett to do the voice over.

  • Props is right. Thanks for not getting too pissed at them for getting close like that. I sail on Delavan and, unfortunately, due to the size of the lake these types of situations pop up often. The reason they have to get close is because the shortest course to the mark is a straight line (a line your boat might fall in). Another thing people don't understand is that the sailing rules require courses to be certain lengths, so they can't always just move the course. Thanks again/great video.

  • Where are you guys seeing this video? Is it posted on a website somewhere?

  • @settlesdown yes, but for some reason when you try to post the website name in your reply, the reply will not be accepted. search "almost got run over by a sail-boat" on google

  • @settlesdown

you made the front page at

    sailing anarchy

    scroll down.

  • @settlesdown

you were posted on the biggest sailing forum in the world, and you also made the front page.

  • @coryalexandergreen That's kinda cool I guess. Does this mean I'm the next big thing in Sailing? Maybe a job doing commentary for yacht races? :D

  • @settlesdown

funny you should mention that, it was discussed briefly!

youtube doesn't allow links in video comments - google "sailing anarchy almost got run over by a sail-boat" and read the few pages of chatter.

  • Get out of the race course. You've got a motor, use it.

  • Nice, I Love the "Scows"

  • Don't anchor in the middle of a course and be surprised that they got close... If they have to avoid your stupid ass and lose distance, they are going to cut it as close as they can.

  • @941BadFish Fuck you.

  • Loooks like dee beeeg feeeesh....#almostthrewananchor

  • you should go out with the once. you may like it.

  • hahahahahaha. The commentary is hilarious! Props for not freaking out and not moving around. If you stay put they won't hit you. Them sailboats are built with precision in mind

  • Good to see the fisherman's point of view.

  • Wow, I wouldn't do that in Australia.

  • You almost got runned over!!!

  • I understand that they can turn quickly but that is after they tack the sails. The video kinda starts late. The fact of it is (and the video may not clearly show it) they used us as an obstacle to force another boat to change course. My buddy almost threw an anchor at those guys! I was literally standing on the bow of the boat getting ready to bail!

  • @settlesdown using you as an obstacle like that violates Rule 19, according to the discussion of your vid on Sailing Anarchy.

  • That is fucking funny!!!! "were' gonna die", thos boats are very capable of missing you guys.! They are racing and if you hold still, they will NEVER hit you. Sailboats like these scows are very manueverable and they are able to stay clear for sure.

  • They go "all over the place" like that because sailboats can't go straight upwind and the mean old race committee always puts the mark straight upwind. Hitting fishing boats slows you down, so they will not hit you.

  • Wow, that's a great video of an exciting sailboat race.

Don't worry, they won't hit you. They just come close because they are trying to make the smallest course adjustment they can so they don't lose ground in the race.
