Japanese Beetles, What to Do?

I liked the dogs! The last two days I've drowned around 50 or 60 beetles. They are invading our fruit trees. I got tired of that, now I just walk around, pick them off the leaves, and crush them in between my fingers. Gross I know...but sort of satisfying ;)

The so called experts here in uk are introducing another bug from japan to sort the problem, wonder how long it will be before the new bugs are a problem.

You could save money & drown them in urine.

Actually there are Japanese beetle predators here in America. The only problem is they are also pests. The European sparrow and the European starling. What I do is hang a small tray bird feeder near the problem areas. Fill with cheap bird seed (milo, millet,cracked corn) and the sparrows flock in and in less than one day the beetles are gone. It works great and works everytime. My cherry trees would be dead had I not started doing this a few years ago. And pay no attention to the dog haters.

Yep. They're a scourge. They stripped my entire vineyard of 76 vines one year within a week! I've had no luck with milky spore, and best luck with traps when placed 50 yds upwind. Any closer and it's an for a buffet.
