This is pretty amazing. People can photograph outright anything they like on that subway station. Try that right now on the George Washington Bridge in New York City. You could be arrested for terrorism. Or how about if you visit Washington DC? Can you take pictures there today? Is it really so true North Korea is so not free? Just take a camera out take a snapshot, no problem. No arrests. And the women don't have to cover their face like in some Arab countries. And they're beautiful.

I have suspicions about the purpose of this Metro. I for one believe that it's purely for tourists to visit and see the 'developed' side of the North Korea, and for them to see that 'life goes on peacefully'
It is possible to travel to North Korea as a tourist, it's very expensive though. And you are allowed to film and take pictures of whatever you want, but it has to be looked through by a censor-committee before you leave the country, and they will delete videos/pictures they find 'inappropriate'.
Many people say that this metro station is amazning and that maybe North Korea ain't so bad. It is bad. This metro station is very clean because if there's a 20 million people country and it doesn't spend money on building roads,a airports or helping people than NK's goverment has got sooo much money because 20million people work like animals and they don't get much for it. Actually, if you were to look into the facts, China is actually irritated by the fact that they have to feed their parasite country. In fact, according to a wikileaks document, Chinese officials actually said they prefer a Korea unified under south korean control than it's current state. This is pretty amazing. People can photograph outright anything they like on that subway station. Try that right now on the George Washington Bridge in New York City. You could be arrested for terrorism. Or how about if you visit Washington DC? Can you take pictures there today? Is it really so true North Korea is so not free? Just take a camera out take a snapshot, no problem. No arrests. And the women don't have to cover their face like in some Arab countries. And they're beautiful.

You can't travel anywhere in NK without a guide, and they don't show you any of the poverty or terrible things going on, if you try to go out and photograph that stuff you will be thrown out of the country.

It is possible to travel to North Korea as a tourist, it's very expensive though. And you are allowed to film and take pictures of whatever you want, but it has to be looked through by a censor-committee before you leave the country, and they will delete videos/pictures they find 'inappropriate'.

Now, you expect North Korea to be absorbed into the South right? China prefers north korea under south korea's government than the current system, and there is a bunch of articles/news about it. @Metamorphisize China wishes North Korea to be either 1)reunite with the South, as its current political and economical stance is too much of a burden to China, or 2)open up its economy and be self-sufficient. #1 is hard, as younger generations of South Korea do not have strong emotional ties with the North, unlike older generations. #2 is difficult as well with its current stubborn attitude and weaponry threat. BTW, BBC/CNN are corporate government owned wh/ores. Take it with a grain of salt.

China, Russia, Japan, and the US are all responsible for the North Korean situation. The difference between the Russians, the Americans, the Japanese, the Chinese, vs the North Koreans are this; Their citizens spoke out against their government when they knew that their government was starving them, and was being unjust. Even China, a communist nation with limited freedom of speech at least allows for financial freedom, and the Chinese fought their government for that.

In fact, there are underground markets in North Korea that many citizens have access to, where they can receive global news. They even know that China, a rather poor nation is much wealthier than they are.

They are proles; Citizens that can fight, and are the only hope for their nation if they have the will and the courage to fight the government that corrupts them, but here is the difference. Every free nation in the world fought their oppressive governments to get that freedom. You would have used the same argument for these nations prior to their rebellions by telling me that I was wrong. If history can be relied on for comparison, the North Koreans have all the ability to stop their own government, like every other nation in the history of the world. If citizens do not have the will to fight, or at least escape, they do not deserve freedom. That is history.

They always threaten when they don't get the respect they do not deserve. I use to feel sympathy for them, but now, I just feel anger. My standard of freedom is -
- One can speak his/her mind without being punished by a government for dissidence
- A person is not enslaved physically, or mentally by their state
- Markets can operate independantly of government control
- A person is free to acquire, and transmit information without punishment, both private, and confidential
I can go more in-depth with these explanations if necessary. Ultimately, North Korea, unfortunately, lacks all of these things.

It seems the far east have the best transport stations... This looks better than NYC, Paris and London underground. But it's obselete compared to the metro systems in Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong etc.

The trains are from East Germany - You can still see the graffiti scratched into the metal and glass...
