If Ivy League was a band from the 60s and Arcade Fire is a band now, doesn't this make the Ivy League version the original? Why do people think this is a cover of Arcade Fire and not vice versa?
@SwitchfootCobra11875 thanks for pointing that out. I didn't know of another band from the 60's that had nearly the same name. Now, to correct my error lol
Not a horrible acoustic cover.... But NOWHERE near as good as the original. It lacks the emotion of the violins and, as others already said, the time signature and tempo contradict the song's original intention. Furthermore, the arpeggiated acoustic chords are simplistic and monotonous compared to the consistent dynamic change and intricacies of the instrumentation in the original.
wow. i have the urge to kill myself now after hearing this abomination of a cover. they completely took away the triplet/waltz feel and make it sound country almost. and his voice is good but not as near as good as wins.
Your opinion shouldn't be hidden! If anything should be hidden it's that SwitchfootCobra blasphemer who says it's better than Arcade Fire's!
You're essentially iterating what duffmancantsee already just said, but this point deserves to be made abundantly clear: the walzy tempo that made the original so poignant and unique is absent from this vapid, common redo.
Ivy League - learn that you're not capable! This cannot be taught one day you may realize.
what made this song great was the waltz tempo. it created a contrast with the dance break at the end, and made it even more cathartic. all of that is lost in this version.
I hate it when people do Jack Johnson-style covers of Arcade Fire. IT DOESN'T WORK, PEOPLE.

@jungefrau the full name of the band is "this is Ivy League" which is from now. The user just shortened the name of the band

I don't like this version as much as the Arcade Fire one... I guess it's because I heard the AF one first, and fell in love with it.

This cover is DEFINITELY better than Arcade Fires version. I love This Is Ivy League. As well as Cobra Starship.
