the bars were different back then i dont think they did as much swinging, thats just a guess though

not all countries wear grips,they might now,i'm not sure but back then i don't think they all did.I think it was something to do with money issues,and funding,so some countries trained their gymnasts to do bars without grips.if you start training without grips from a young age the skin on your hand gets harder and tougher and so alot less likely to rip.I think countries some even used ropes tied around their hands.thats what i was told anyways...

@pinkandgirly1992 Nadia herself got blood poisoning from a tear in her palm from working on the UB. She didn't tell anyone until it was badly infected as she didn't want to stop competing or make a fuss about it as it happened all the time.

Wow. That's a pretty commercial =) You can't compare nastia and nadia. Nadia will be remembered FOREVER. After afew years Nastia will fade. AND, to shoot that commercial, Nastia probly had to do her bar stuff about 1000 times to get it just perfect, but Nadia only had one try, and it was amazing. Perfect 10 amazing

Nastia like Shannon Miller has 5 medals at one Olympic game and 9 World medals. She has made gymnastics histoy as well. And she is the 3rd USA women to win the Gold AA. Nadia praticed her whole life to get that perfect ten...she didn't pop out her mom's stomach saying lets do kips!
