  • Haha... its not coke or LSD its hanging out with Neem Karoli baba about 40 years ago. He was the highest of saints, stuff like that changes you... then Ram Dass had his stroke, so more change and more learning.

  • This is why you should only smoke weed. This guy had one too many bumps of coke

  • @ScaryKidBellanger

coke? what the fuck are you talking about?

  • Now that's a REAL fucking smile, absolutely beautiful video!

  • Peace...

  • @jamesarongrey Namaste. :-)

  • its such exquisite.....craftsmanship

  • i remember watching this one night when stoned. I could feel his and mine consciousness fused... well not fused but it was like he was infront of me transending time and space telling me our consciousness was the same.

  • @jamesarongray I had the same experience (not stoned...that day at least)

  • Take away the fact that someone would probably try and assassinate him, and he didn't have a stroke, but could you imagine what America would be like if Ram Dass was president?

  • Amazing. Just what I needed to watch this morning. Thank you. <3

  • Awareness promotes telepathy and clairvoyance.

  • my ego cannot watch this... he tries to refuse anything becouse he think he is unique... so... prepare you egos... here come the blood...

  • @SerapisBei You are afraid. Do not be afraid.

  • That was great.

  • so why do so many of the fingers kill off the other fingers of the same consciousness. Does not make any sense what so ever. In other words the ONE CONSCIOUSNESS is a self cutting, narcissistic hater of itself??? Come on get real

  • @MrEurowolf imagine you (we) as pure consciousness start off with desires in every possible direction. pure chaos. then at the peak in time is chaos masked as order, then we'll return to states similiar to primordial chaos again. watch waves canceling eachother out. quod erat demonstrandum.

  • @robertputneydrake Thank you for your response. However, you did not address my confusion regarding the violence and destruction of "fingers of consciousness" by other "fingers of consciousness".

I appreciate your input as I am having some difficulty getting my head around the concepts of Unity, Source, Interconnectedness of Everything. In my simple understanding would I be correct in thinking that Everything is made of the same "God Stuff"?

  • @MrEurowolf

interconnectedness isn't suppose to be a rational affair, MrEurowolf. These are what mystical experiences give us - an intuitive awareness of interconnection. After such an experience, killing other fingers of consciousness does seem rather confusing and horrible.

  • and also "spiritual practices and perspectives for daily living"

  • to get a better idea of what happened to Das check out the movie "fierce grace"

  • lol

  • is this guy talking with somone in his mind ? kuz it looks so wooow this is creepy

  • @Mr405m his ego mind is talking with his aware heart train the mind to be still watch thoughts instead of generating them

  • Dude did a shitload of LSD ,he's a total rockstar. Love em

  • I doubt he had fear of death..Perhaps we will meet.

  • all that lsd has really had an effect on his brain

  • @fuckyou60286 Actually, it's not an effect of LSD at all; rather it's the massive stroke he had some years ago which caused a kind of aphasia (difficulty in finding the correct word).

But I can see how one might make that assumption. :-)

  • @zero021one its fucking awesome to watch, i know is a handicap maybe though its still awesome in a nice collection way

  • @anelphabet its almost as if he's speaking beyond consciousness

  • plenty of (intelligent) people take a while to choose their words carefully. consciousness and the messages we choose arent always easy to articulate to each other. it doesnt take a stroke to experience this "aphasia" you speak of.

  • @zero021one You sure? He's taken LSD hundreds of times, what are you saying is the result of a stroke?

  • This video is divine, stop disrespecting it with mindless ego jabber

  • @TenorJoshuaPage solid post, josh

  • he's so high haha

  • one eye is lookin right at me, the others lookin right through me.

  • Baisicly we are all god, yes even if your a pedophile your still god, or a murderur, your still god. Amen

  • I just found this man ... he is 80 ... He has such great words....<3

  • God bless this man! Thanks for posting this!

  • 1:16 awww sound face :) *i just came*

  • I love you Ram dass. Thank you =)

  • This man is my hero. So intelligent, so awake. Someday, his words will reach those who are asleep - I hope to be alive when that day comes.

  • mMangzorz is asleep

  • a sainted soul...truly. divine person.

  • Anything we need to argue is removal from God. We should all pray for each other whether we agree or not. You can disagree and that is fine too. I pray Gods love to you.

  • foreverFitU argues and disagrees

  • @newyorkangel1

My God, what kind of person are you? Have some sense of decency and compassion.

  • alan111best has no decency nor compassion

  • @newyorkangel1 that's a bit dramatic..have some compassion..

  • phiaman dramatically demonstrates no compassion

  • full of shit lol

  • Tying Rocks to Clouds, anyone?

  • I met (Richard ) on a school ground in Maui in 1987 while on vacation

with my husband. We were waiting there for the school to open so we could

go to a Ram Das lecture. His work with "Death & Dying helped me so much. I hadn't seen him before-all of a sudden this really cool, shaven, extremely friendly guy comes up to us and we all talk for awhile. The lecture starts and now we realize we had been with the Ram!!Great, amazing talk ! If you didn't

grow up with "Be Here Now"- you missed out.

  • Yeah, sure - dancing in and out of reincarnations. Tell me another one!

  • Ram Das is what Be Here Now means. Ram Das is doorway to Now. Jai Ram Das. Jai Neem Karoli Baba....

  • What a lovely man. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Why do you try to complicate that which is so simple? Awareness simply means that we know we exist. We are the only animals on this planet that have awareness. The one drawback to having awareness is that we know we will die. No other animal realizes death. That is why religion was created. Man had a difficult time accepting death so he invented another life to go to in a make believe place called heaven. Most people cannot accept the end of life. There is only one life, this is it!

  • @buddybleau You couldn't be more wrong. How foolish you are to put your opinion against millions and millions of people that are smarter than you. Idiots, I swear, your ego needs to be taken down.

  • @buddybleau I agree, except with the part of us being the only animals having awareness, I think that's debatable (among many examples : I'm pretty sure dolphins are aware they exist)

  • @Quartrez No other animal has awareness, you "IDIOT!"

  • @buddybleau How do you know, you pretentious brat ?

  • @Quartrez Pretentious brat? Do you any young people that can put together a few words spelled correctly and comprehensible? I don't think so. I am 71yrs. old. The guy talking on this video has more shit with him than a Christmas Turkey!

  • @buddybleau Pretentious old man, then. By the way, you forgot to answer my question.

  • Y'all are gettig trolled by gunny.

Just listen to the old guy and try to understand his teachings.

  • @Thor22289 What do you mean by trolled?

  • He talks at a speed of about three words a minute.

  • Poor old Rammy; With his "superior" mental ability he couldn't affect his own health. The ex-druggie and ex-hippy fried his buddhist leaning brain decades ago. He's a pretty neat old guy, though, as far as drug addled old men go. At least he's not like his counterpart, Chaz Manson, talking about leaving dead bodies everywhere. Though Manson IS more interesting to listen to.

  • 34 people aren't aware.yet.

  • what makes you think we need some ex-acid head buddy of the nut, Tim Leary, to be aware? I'm aware that I wouldn't let my children be under his influence. What a surprise when he wakes up in hell; Will he STILL say "we choose our Paths?" Maybe he should have chosen a job as an ice cream man. Not quite as hot. Is he gonna have his head blasted into outer space like Leary? Poor old guy, I actually pity him. To be so deluded.

  • @gunnyhyway

If you want to control the influences of your kids, be their influence.

Its so strange that truth is the hardest thing to see, and when you do see it you know, you're aware of a great and mighty many things that were covered up by your perceptions, your ego, your likes/dislikes, your taste in music, your choice in religion. My advice for you today would be: Take a step outside your 'self' and you will see that there is no reason to judge others. Take care, friend

  • @thedudeabides2010 These are the ones that ARE aware. Its amazing, any ex dope head spouts out some bull, I mean PURE bull, and idiots fall at his feet. Heh heh. I have some snake oil for sale, idiots.

  • Comment removed

  • I love this man. Even after a serious stroke, his wisdom is as timeless and relevant as ever.

  • @lynnth55 What wisdom? Anybody could spout out that exact same junk, and acquire a certain following, weak minded types who send him money. Oh yeah, it's money. The old bottom line. Same old worn out quasi buddhist jive, certain to seperate some from their money.

  • @gunnyhyway I feel sorry for you. So much negativity and cynicism. Your attitude is yours and yours alone and you are free to have it, but really, try to do something positive in this crazy world. That would help so much more than your negativity.

  • Negativity? Please. Interesting that you have no defense or response to what I said. But, it's no surprise. It's positive to expose fraud and so-called "holiness". Dass is just another snake oil salesman and you bought the whole boxful of it. As P.T. Barnu said, "there's a sucker born every minute."

  • @gunnyhyway I gave no defense or response because none is needed. You are the one who needs to attack something and someone simply because they do not see or believe the way you do. I did acknowledge your right to have your own opinion yet you do not give others the same respect. That is why I pity you and your tunnel vision. If you do not like Ram Das then simply stay away and let those who see his wisdom in peace. It is called tolerance, something you do not seem to possses.

  • You're starting to sound a little "intolerant," yourself. I guess old Rammy's teachings aren't taking root in your reincarnated super-ego. You guys are all the same. Tell ya what, show me 1 thing he has affected by his "consciousness." 1 thing provable, I'm not talking about the silliness that mindless followers like yourself spout. Something provable. 1 thing. Let's hear it, prove it. 1 thing.

  • @gunnyhyway wow, you just can't let others have their own beliefs. No more comments! It is all over your head anyway. and if that is intolerant to you then so be it since you are the one doing all the labeling! I pity you :-(

  • @lynnth55 Admit it, you don't "pity" me. At least be honest enough to tell the truth. Rammy would want you to. You seriously dislike me. It's understandable; Nobody likes it when their false misguided adoration of a worn out old hippy parading himself off as a "holy man" turn out to be wasted time.

  • Comment removed

  • @gunnyhyway wasn't Jesus a worn out hippy?

  • "When we identify with all bodies, we are then identified with our own awareness"

    So profound.

I love hearing this mans voice, its so soothing.

Thank you and peace to you!!!

  • melody of tears,

    we live.

    cacophony of jeers,

    we give.

a self that's full of heart,

    so rare.

    less pain to be apart,

    from care.

Nothing to do with anything. Just came up. I love Ram dass. Just so happens. I could have another mindset. Stupid dumb ass burnout. I tend to hate those people.

I ain't right. I know that. And I won't be that until I am that. Right. In a show where nothing is wrong.

  • Respect

    thank-you for sharing

  • Such a beautiful man, highly recommend Fierce Grace on Netflix if you have the time. Peace

  • Fine Video Thanks. Checkout 'Isaac Tigrett Dallas Talk' Goes for 45 mins

  • It's like Jim Henson didn't die but went underground and got high as a kite every day since.

  • He was a brother of mine.

  • LSD screwed up a lot of people from the 60s.

  • Souls are part of God, we are never equal to the whole.

We are simultaneously all one and different. ITS NOT ALL ONE. God is God, the souls are His parts and parcels, meant for loving Him through transcendental loving service. The PART serves the WHOLE as one supplies food to the stomach and the whole body is nourished similarly the human form of life is an opportunity for the living entities to re-kindle this lost loving relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead (vedabase dot net)

  • @badadam108 Oh, so were like the pasta and the suace and meatballs are like seperate but together they make up the sacred flying plate of pasta WOW cool pastafarianism really does make sence.

  • Ram,

You cooked the good parts of your then questionable brain. Now just the boiled out husk is left, and as I can see it's not working well. I was young once and I realized that eventually almost any abused drug will burn you out. The reason you had a stroke is because you damaged your brain. Your condition is your best selling point.

  • @zowzilla why would you say that, you must know he had a serious stroke, the fact that you don't care is sad but I still wish you well on your journey and I hope you find real peace.

  • @zowzilla Finally, a voice of reason that's not blinded by his naive acceptance of bullshit.

  • Simply beautiful!

Even though this is a recorded video Of Ram Dass, there is still an alive and direct transmission of the truth shinning through beyond the words he is speaking.

At around 2:25 into the video, it starts coming through very clearly, and gently.

    LOVE.

  • @spacelf

You noticed that part too? At that point there were tears coming down here, and his voice seemed to me so gentle and kind......

    Thanks :)

    LOVE

  • Comment removed

  • Oh mu.... it's a Greek god ;)

  • I feel such warmth and gratitude and humble love for Ram Dass. He was like my daddy. Grateful for the recordings!

  • 30 dislikes are all christians no doubt

  • @sor8an And all the likes are air headed druggies with no concept of reality. How about some snake oil? Selling it at a reduced rate today?

  • He's brain damaged

  • A very cool dude.. Alot of the stuff he says, people may say "yes we know that" - with all the information we have, access to religious, philosophical ideas, our understanding of science, use of mind expanding drugs/meditation what have you - but to be such a totally cool dude 100% of the time is really special. If I have a stroke, I hope I am as lucid as this fellow afterward (to say most people are not is an understatement!)

  • Research n Moderation leads a nation with no hatin. Or dont - Just Proceed and stat off my cloud. You dont know me and ya dont know my style

  • this pretty much sumz up what i've been thinking about while watching classic interviews and reading comments. Tim- Ram- Garcia-Hoffman and documentary vidz about the Experience have all been positive and for the guyz exhaustingly annoying with the negative vibes. "Awareness" 2 me that means.. U cant break my spirit and i know otherz are ridin with that. Real recognize real. Bill Walton NBA is "Aware" lol Chew on that like a Doc Ellis MLB fastball he threw on lsd that led to a nohitter. Resear

  • Love the post a about the christians

  • @elyzzer Idiots. You can choose to go to hell if you want. Just denying it exists or you don't believe in it wont excuse you for rejecting Christ. Fool.

  • @gunnyhyway Christians are so sweet. We see the "god" you worship through all the judgmement and hate. I wish you peace in your heart.

  • Simply beautiful... if you really listen to him, you will see that he is talking to somebody very special ;)

  • Love, love, love to you Ram Das... thank you for being here now over the years!

  • you can tell this man has less of an ego than the average joe by how he pauses to think about how to put his feelings into words. this guy is cool as fuck,

  • @themindzi Well, there's that reason... and he had a stroke which affected his speaking speed.

  • If you wan't to be captivated by another then pick christianity.

  • @TheGeneticMutation1 Please let your proselytizing go and just enjoy this beautiful man and the sweet truth in his words. Open your mind and your heart and you might learn something new that could add to your understanding of the richness that Christ brought. Just concentrate on His main teaching, "Love thy neighbor as thyself!" So simple. If all the Christians in the world--or even 1/1000th of them--just did this one thing the world would be a very different place. Peace.

  • I love Ram Dass. Misguided? Who should he have followed? And to where? Even after suffering a stroke, my man Ram Dass shares sunshine in his words. He's brought more joy & healing to others than most of us could dream of.

  • He suffers from expressive aphasia after a stroke; it's a condition that affects the language centres of the brain. That he's able to talk as well as he does is quite something.

  • @tablesoup medical marijuana helps with his speech

  • This made absolutely no sense until the last word, then it all came together

  • He's had a stroke

  • Sweet, gentle and very well intentioned yet a bit misguided. Wish him the best.

  • @loopsydazy Ram Dass, a bit misguided? Enlighten us please.

  • More beautiful than ever!!

  • The beauty of all of these comments is that none of them really matter, and I mean that in a non-judgmental way. Awareness matters, do you have it? :)

  • @lildavey09 ARE you it? ;)

  • If he had a stroke, that may be explanation for his speed of talking and the blanc expression at times. So my apologies for that. However the gesturing taken straight from Osho is not a stroke symptom. Having this in mind the way of talking also suspiciously reminds me of Osho and the whole thing seems like a poor Osho fake, despite the stroke issue.

To answer the question why I came here-because someone posted a quote from this guy and I wanted to learn who he was.

  • @snakeling22 Calm down 1////:D He is not imitating Osho. I wil tell you something about him.His original name is Richard Alpert. He is one of three guys (Timothy leary, Metnzer) who started LSD experiments in the US and afterward Hippie age.Timothy was more scientific and he was exploring by himself. And Richard went to India to find guru who will teach him. He is not the same quality like osho. However he is beautiful person who bring atleast some spirituality to West.

  • @snakeling22 2//// Watch this video /watch?v=5hW6Dm_m5t4 . Its him 30 or 40 years ago. Its quite interesting. Moreover its even more deep than this video, because nobody understands what he says here and nobody keep attention

  • @snakeling22 Possibly rumour: Meditation and supposingly drugs disconnect the 'language' parts of brain.

I've read something about it several times but didn't find anything from Google today. Or he is just so calm and peaceful, dunno but I like it better.

  • I wonder why people look for answers and then condem it only becuase we can not understand the different expressions of god.... Oh that's right becuase we chose to see what we are limited to understand. Perhaps we need to elivate our perception to understanding higher

  • thank you

  • Slither away Snake.....Ram Dass has had a stroke. If you're patient and compassionate, you will hear his brilliance.

  • Oh what a poor Osho fake!!!!! And I really wanted to learn who this guy was...but then I saw the badly rehearsed hand gestures, silences that obviously not genuine and the attempt to to picture meditative state, which looks just like senile blank spot, and then you spot the carefully made manicure...oh how pathetic! Why didn't he have the faith he can be himself! Osho is not greater than him or anybody else. He could have said something of importance. Oh, it feels dirty to see such a thing :(

  • @snakeling22 he's had a stroke and he's being taken care of by workers....

it takes him longer to speak due to his delayed motor skills and his right side doesn't work that's why you don't see any hand motions from the right hand

  • @snakeling22 let me guess...you aren't from around here are you? ;)

  • @snakeling22 and so...my question for you is...Why did you watch this video? Why did you search for it?

  • @snakeling22

holy face palm. you're a true testament to speaking before thinking (synonymous with being aware of, knowing, etc).

  • he don't know how to express the law of the Universe!!! this is quite a challange to explain it in our Earth words.

  • @dotaliens May I ask why you chose to watch this video? What led you here? What did you search for? Why did you choose to comment? I love you :)

  • Well I won't join this discussion cause I don't see the value in that, but Awareness is an important thing. LSD is if used correct a great tool. Think your bachelors degree and great job makes you who you are? Forget it.....

    Just my 2 cents ;-)

  • dude spit it out already, is effn stupid, god is the only way!!!!!!! god and jesus and the holy spirit, this is what drugs do to u.

  • @MrVtheviking How did you find this video? What did you search for?

  • Your brain on drugs. Incoherent sophism.

  • @wmhoad this is after his stroke not on drugs

  • @wmhoad Why did you watch this? What were you looking for?

  • @ack303 & @shotbounzs I regret my comment, now. That is what I get for responding before knowing all the facts. After watching some of Ram Dass other videos on YT, I realized he has some wise advice/opinions. I am not convinced his New Age philosophy is the best spiritual path for everyone, and in general I am a skeptic of all New Age programs, but my earlier comment was out of line. I guess this is an apology?

  • @wmhoad No worries! I totally understand what you mean about 'New Age' spirituality. It all seems like a scheme sometimes! I'm interested in Ram Dass because I believe he was a pioneer in spirituality for the western world. He was greatly responsible for bringing about the psychedelic movement and the tremendous changes that came with it in the 60's. He helped a lot of people understand what it meant to go through a psychedelic experience.

  • @wmhoad I don't think he would ever prescribe his teachings as the one true way. In fact, if you read his work, such as 'Be Here Now', you'll see that he borrows heavily from many religious and spiritual sources. If anything he was a pioneer of new age spirituality. Anyways, the new age stuff out there is just a way to introduce eastern philosophy to western people. I guess he seems more sincere, to me, as a person because of the way his life transitioned from being Richard Alpert to Ram Dass...

  • @wmhoad He is still a human being though, just like the rest of us.

  • @dotaliens

    LOL !!

    sad isn't it?

  • @jkweddingentrancesux you are still here? :) I love you!

  • @jkweddingentrancesux Remember when you called me pretentious? I feel I am so far from being anyone that would be called pretentious, but I suppose it did happen finally, lol...but I am just a regular person man...I'm 34 years old, live in South Dakota, I have a 2 year old son, a girlfriend, and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. I barely am I able to pay my bills. I have a car loan, school loan, and credit card bills. I drink mountain dew, I play xbox games, and I read comic books, lol...

  • Youtube is really showing our badside...Why do we all choose to find videos that represent something we do NOT like? Why do we all choose to spread hate about videos that represent something to ourselves as a waste of time? Why not choose a video that makes our day better...that makes our lives better? It seriously blows my mind that people actively search out videos so they can get pissed off? Are we going insane?

  • what a fucking creep this guy is

    is he dead yet?

    LOL

  • @jkweddingentrancesux i'm sorry you feel that way, i hope you find what you are looking for in life, rather than stumbling upon messages that you do not care for...

  • @ack303

    i am fine, thanks.

this guy and all.most of the other self appointed healers/teachers are all about money and ego.

they are boring and a 180 from the selflessness and egolessness they talk about.

this guy is 100% ego trip

watch him sit on a stage and grin smugly as the desperate audience laughs at his every word

he has been laughing all the way to the bank for years.

a good gig if u can get it i guess.

believers bug me more than him

    he is just an exploiter

  • @jkweddingentrancesux okay, lets just say that you are totally correct. Why did you choose him and why did you choose this video to make that observation? Why not choose a video on youtube that you might enjoy and express your love for it? I guess that is my biggest question for everyone such as yourself... knowing that you are searching for videos with subject matter or persons that you already disagree with...why do it? Do you just want to cement the fact that Ram Dass is a charlatan?

  • @ack303 no reason actually,i was looking around and forgot about him and popped this on. just his voice and face annoy me i saw one where he was seated on a stage cracking jokes about bush (shouldn't he be above that) the NPR listening baby booming audience was giggling in agreement come on- grow up. they are so enlightened. the people that fall for this crap must really have no mind of their own they looked like pathetic sheep all of them laughing in unison this fraud soaking it in boring !
  • @jkweddingentrancesux Wow :) I think he's just a human being man. Even the people around him knows he has problems like any other. For one thing, he had a temper prior to his stroke apparently. He was also closeted for a long time about his homosexuality. But...with what you are saying...Are you trying to protect us from what he is teaching? In my opinion there seems to be more dangerous rhetoric out there.

  • @ack303

    don't know much about him.

the temper part is NO surprise

as i said, his vids scream :look at me" a self absorbed control freak.

so a bad temper (being right & forceful are par for course)

I didn't know he was gay.

I am not trying to protect anybody - i just stumbled on his vids and had to laugh at comments about what a wise sage he was - damn, he is just a dude

he is spewing pop culture mumbo jumbo - his mssg is fine but he is hardly unique & yet he makes it all about HIM.

    nasty

  • @jkweddingentrancesux Without knowing much about a person, especially Ram Dass, it hardly justifies you to judge someones character. This becomes evident the more you learn about almost anyone. He has led a life many would envy and probably do. Again, I am not claiming he's perfect! His so called pop culture mumbo jumbo was original. Not too many people were saying the things that he said at the time back in the 60's.

Let's turn it around here for a second. Look at h

  • @jkweddingentrancesux (continuing) ... look at how you word your argument. Do you come off as being any different than him, in your opinion? You basically claim to be better than him, yet you demonstrate the same qualities you hate. You mock a public figure. Oh how enlightened you must be? Shouldn't you be above that?

  • @ack303

    well a few things

i am not selling myself as an enlightened spiritual "teacher" am I ??

    lol

exactly my point - we are all the same and this guy is no more wise than you or me.

he is only low enough to dupe a few sophmoric thinkers into buying into his act.

people need to grow up and use their brain.

    this guy is nothing special

  • @jkweddingentrancesux it does seem by saying his words and actions are misguided, that you must have a better answer.

do you understand what he is saying in this video? His very point is that we are all the same! Were all in this game together :) Even though this may not be a new concept, it is something that is obviously good to be reminded of. With all the conflict in the world, it is good to be reminded that we are all human beings striving for the same.

what exactly do you disagree with?

  • @ack303

in conclusion is disagree w the deification of this guy. his speaking engagements for money and the ego of being anointed a spiritual leader/teacher/healer.

Americans need to be spoon fed garbage and love idolatry. i think it is the fast food culture - big macs, starbucks, walmart and oh yes...fast food religion and spirituality that oprah sells!

this guy is just a huckster and is not deserving of fame or praise

his ideas are fine - but they are NOT NEW!
