  • He has such a deep voice. It makes all of his songs stand out. The Ballad of Davy Crockett being my favorite.

  • This song was written in 1932.

  • 3 people have no taste.

  • When was this? Sounds like the 50's.

  • Ernie Ford ,funny guy big music talend and movies to. Copy this style. Thanks, Art

  • outstanding! This 65 year old baby boomer was a terror in those days of Ernie Ford and years following, but his music calms the savage beast and reminds us to be considerate of others, though Otis Redding just blows me away when he sings this.

  • His voice is similar to mine: When he speaks it's not all that low, but when he sings, it's defiantly in a lower register. Much lower than mine though...

  • Think I might just eat some more sugar and syrup.... not sure I've had enough :-(

  • this man had S.O.U.L. and is a great star in the American music constellation.

  • @ajerseykid if he had soul, what would you consider otis redding to have?

  • @musicologyexists... sorry to take a while to reply - didn't notice your comment until just now. i LUV Otis Redding's music... don't really understand your question.

  • He has such a rich voice I love his style

  • I enjoyed this so much, thank you for sharing!

  • Dear Mr. TEF :

I remember Homer & Jethro were on the

    Tennessee Ernie Show in 1960.

I've seen kineoscopes of it but I wonder

if that show was videotaped. It sure would

    be great to see it.

  • Those were the days when life was simple and our parents did the worrying for us. Hearing Old Ernie brings a bit of peace to this old soul. It's a peace that does not occur when I listen to the rock and roll I was brought up on. I found this type of music helpful in dealing with an addiction problem that I had. The number one song for beating that habit was "Wake the Town and the Tell the People"...The powere of music. Peace to all.

  • OMG it's cousin ernie from I Love Lucy!!!! he is so funny when he was on that show!!! he is a great singer and i never knew!!!!

  • @Bambina550 I forgot he had some appearances on "I Love Lucy", I always remember him as a singer with a deep baratone voice. You made me laugh and I needed that tonight. Thank you.
