the skip in the frames is a good reference point to the fact you stopped recording because steve made a total mess of the manouvre when trying to turn and i love his hand jestures etc afterwards, i cant get enough of watching this ROFL ROFL
Have a look at my YouTube of the Wyre Lady pleasure cruise boat at Doncaster Town Lock, as well as going through the lock at Sprotborough, to see the contrast. A bit tame, I must admit, but I think you'll like it!
PIG and PINEAPPLE - you have the best canal videos I have seen! I live in the USA but I tackled the Cheshire Ring last year (2007) and I recall that was a very awkward lock setup. We made the loop in a counter-clockwise direction. Coming out of the lock and making the 90-degree right turn was a royal pain in the neck.
The Big Lock is wider than the others because it was intended to enable wide salt boats from the River Weaver to reach Middlewich Wharf. Further towards Northwich is a narrow aqueduct over the River Dane. The original aqueduct was wider and its replacement by this narrower structure has mean that only narrowboats can use the canal.
You are most welcome. Why not try our The Curious Incident Of The Tree & The Cat In The Night-time video and get the best of both worlds i.e. Cats & Narrowboats.

how wide is your boat?they seem cozy and big but nver cramped to me.great video.

Mostly they are 6 feet 10 inches wide and up to 70 feet long.
There are a few 14 feet wide but these are restricted to certain parts of the canal system.
