  • It was funny but this morning this song was played on Radio 2 BBC and what memories it bought back to me of summer in the 60's and all the wonderful sounds that went with it. Diddilydeedot xxx

  • this freaking song is 1 of the best songs ever

  • It's too bad this video was not in colour.

  • Sometimes you think your the only person who likes a beautiful tune but then you find fellow beautiful people, thankyou.

  • Man, this i so wonderful. That i am able to see this video now. Long after the performance, at the other end of the world

    thanks a million for sharing

  • This song was The Song during my 11th grade. All girls and a lot of us guys loved this song.

  • The lyrics are incredibly poignant and meaningful for such a long time ago!.

  • I think this is from "Shindig"

  • "Such a pretty song". You got that right.

  • Haunting lyrics, poetic substance.

  • Put earphones on, sit back, close eyes and relax - what a song!

  • Sounds like he was singing along with the record - same backing track as the record. Weird though, because from what you can tell at this res, there are no wires coming away from his performing position. Perhaps they just put him in a booth before the show to overdub the record onto a tape and he lip synched that. Strange approach, sounds GREAT though.

  • 48 people caught the butterfly. He does not need a synthesizer to sound good.

  • "with nets of wonder I chase the bright, elusive butterfly of love"

  • I was 13 when this came out in the UK, It's still a great song.

  • Pure poetry. For lyrics, this is the best song ever

  • Brilliant.........army days 1968 Voortrekkerhoogte

  • somebody was singing along

  • @delbard1

You're right delbard1, He was singing over his own record. Back then it was cheaper and easyer for just the Artist to lip sink his own record the the time it would take to set up and brake down each act. Still One of the best songs ever written and recorded. I loved this song as a kid and still love it today!

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. I was 10 when it was a hit... but I have never seen Bob Lind until now. Thanks for the post!

  • Boy...does this ever take me back to an amazing time ! What a great posting !!!

  • Hey, Bob Lind, Thank you for this great song, Im now 53, and your song has always stayed in my heart since I first heard it as a kid. in 66.. ...martin

  • In those days, unless the performer was on Ed Sullivan or Shindig, we had not idea what they looked like. The music spoke for itself.

    You Go, Bob Lind!

  • My GOD this brings me back to a simpler and better time in my life. Just beautiful.

  • awesome song Thanx 4 posting 8)

  • A great song. I still love it after 44 years.

  • does anyone remember Lesley Gore?

  • @mick50651 Sure, she's still around and performs..

  • @BobbyColePopMusic Of course! It's My Party, Judy's Turn To Cry, You Don't Own Me, Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows, and Young Love.

  • @BobbyColePopMusic

Lesley just performed for free along with all those great girl groups from the sixties at Lincoln Center Out of Doors in NYC ....great afternoon! August 2011...........

  • @mick50651 Beautiful redhead, right?

  • I loved this song then, and I love it now!

  • As a fellow classmate of Bobs he was great then and still is.

  • A very clever songwriter. I liked his cynical view of his contemporaries in "The World is Just a B mMovie,"

  • Such poetical lyrics and sung so beautifully.

  • What a wonderful song. I was nine years old when this tune was released. Even at that age I was struck by it's wistful beauty. I still love it, and always will.

  • I love this song, remids me of the summer of 66 waking up in the morning and hearing it on the radio

  • Just love this song... I sang it too.. *****'s

  • Another great song from the awesome

60's. They dont make music like this anymore, sadly.

  • One of my favorite songs ever!! Thanks!

  • This song is sooo deeeep! A broken heart, wounded feelings, and emotions. When this song was playing, I was thirteen and in love when my girlfriend moved away to Atlanta . This song was one of my favorites . Always brings me back in time.

  • Both this song and Everyone's Gone To the Moon had that wistfulness about them, unlike most of the hits of that era.

  • I liked this pretty song then and I like it now, too. Amazing how your mind time travels you to the past and plants you in the place you were when you first heard this song (barrack's wooden platform/fire escape Ft Dix NJ) beaming out of New York City. My new buddy from Cleveland wanted to go home and so did I. But, we didn't.

  • This song still gives me butterflies!

  • In 1965 I was 15 when this song and unrequited love both entered my life, the songs now don't capture the emotions so well........And still a great song!

  • one of the best from the 60s.still sounds as good as it did then.great songs are ageless.

  • This is a great song of his, but it's too bad that he had prettier songs that were not hits.

  • If I could do my part in moderating youtube comments MrHippoDick would be bounced out of here quicker than crap through a goose. He is truly the one with the mental problem, not jackie22752. If MrHippoDick thinks Bob Lind is sucha "looser" why does he bother to go to this video. No, wait. I already know the answer to that.

  • Mr. Hippodickhead, you need to put down the crack pipe.

  • Cretin !..this is a great song...one of many Bob has written...and still does

    Jim

  • Actually I feel sorry for Hippodick. Only a man who doesn't have love, wants love, wants romance, would be so resentful of such great poetry. Would a man who has love write such a resentful message? I would know, I've been there.

  • Your an idiot MrHippoDick. This is one of the most beautiful songs to come out of the 60's.

  • Thanks. One of the best songs ever.

  • I was ten when this beautiful pop masterpiece was on the AM radio, I was too busy, running around with my friends outside, playing, etc, to really appeciate this gem. I got into pop music in 1969, & I brought all the great pop 45RPM's at the time & I'm still lovin' pop at 53, I even like Lady GAGA!! Bob is singing live here, what TV show is this from? They really don't make 'em like this anymore! RIP MJ, Peace, Gary in PA USA

  • More like he was singing over the recording at the same time.

  • I was 14 and had some serious mental problems. After being hospitalised after an overdose I can remember listening to this song. I had not heard it for so long but thanks to Internet, You Tube, etc I was able to download it to my iPod and just love it. Memories are so important.

  • Another song that makes me hunger for a time that seemed so innocent, especially to a kid (at the time) like me. It evokes memories of a time when the only thing I had to worry about was making sure my homework was done.

  • Thanks for posting this! I was only 8 years old at the time, but have always loved this song as an "oldie." I'm glad to see this video of him performing the song back in the period it was released. Thanks again!
