This little velomobile is JUST as expensive as Chevrolet Spark. Around $10,000. They're charging too much money for a little velomobile that costs over $8000. They need to make velomobiles cheaper, otherwise, no one will buy them.
Now that is the coolest thing I have ever seen when it comes to trikes!!! I wish I could make mine like that but I don't have a 26' in the back. It's actually the smaller one so it wouldn't even go that fast :(
there are some really stupid comments about this thing being too slow. If its on a freeway that bicycles , horses etc can go on then it is legal and safe and it is up to the polluting motorist behind to give room and respect to. If they can't deal with something moving slowly on the road then they shouldn't be driving!
@TheBbergner86, idiots like yourself don't belong on the roads, if you cannot see it, stay off the roads, these things are safe, cheap, and when it rains the rider stays dry
@TheBbergner86 Rubbish. Bicycles belong on the road, and this is faster than a bicycle. I've never heard of a bicycle being a danger to any driver either, LMAO!!
@TheBbergner86 Bicycles don't need insurance to be on the road. I don't drive my car or ride my bicycle in your backyard, but both are allowed on the public highways. Deal with it.
@TheBbergner86 One of the laws for bicycles is to have insurance? LOLOL, I imagine you don't even have a driving licence, or you'd know that's not true. It's not bicycles that cause property damage, injure and kill people, it's cars and their drivers. That's why it's motor vehicles that are required to have insurance.
@TheBbergner86 No, cyclists don't need insurance - the law does not require this. I don't know of any country where cyclists are required to have insurance. That said, I have insurance, as do many cyclists as part of bicycle organisation membership or on home insurance. Whilst sometimes cyclists are at fault in collisions, the vast majority of the time it's motorists who are to blame. Around 80-90% of the time, according to two studies.
@TheBbergner86 Oh, and don't call them accidents. They are collisions, because someone is to blame and it's very offensive to the victim(s) to call it an accident when their injury/death is the result of someone's carelessness.
Do you agree motorists need to follow ALL the laws? Or just some of them? I hope you're not trying to suggest motorists are more law abiding than cyclists, because that would be rubbish.
@CyclingMikey I've got over 12,000 miles on my bicycle so I have some experience. There are a lot of car drivers who don't think bicycles have a right to be on the road at all and as a result are either woefully ignorant of the traffic laws concerning bicycles or just don't care. There are also bicyclists who have no regard for traffic laws. I'd estimate that a higher proportion of bicyclists break the rules and the reason why is that they can do so with impunity.
@JaleelJohanson62 We're all the same humans. Behaviour is likely to be similarly considerate or inconsiderate regardless of the mode of transport the particular human is using at the time. ;)
Sadly the Go-One in this video is no more. I crashed it a month ago due to a car coming from the opposite direction blinding me with it's high beam. This caused me to crash into a parked car on my side of the road. Spent a week in hospital due to a minor knee injury. After looking at the crashed velomobile I can truly say it saved my life. Ordered myself a new one last week. Hope to be riding it in July.
If they made these sit down, comfortable bikes more of a standard, a hell of a lot more people would use them to get exercise and drive their cars less.
I had the idea of making something like this about 20 years ago. I always thought that having pedal power with electric assist was the answer to really getting around. The real challenge is not getting hit by cars. Sharing the road is my biggest concern.
This is a piece of cake. The real challenge is to driver of the car; not hitting you. Ride a predictable line where you can actually be seen and they actually rise to the challenge rather admirably (albeit not always perfectly. What, you want everything?).
@conspiracy777 depends a little on where you are riding... but more on how you ride. I ride my recumbent trike on the streets and actually get more room and respect from cars than I ever did on a regular bike! I would suspect that a velomobile would have even better noticeability and be given more room. I would love to have a GoOne! check my videos to see me riding on my trike on the streets and trails of southern California.
@conspiracy777 I ride a low racer recumbent in London UK traffic. There's no issue with visibility, I'd say I'm seen by 10 times as many people as when I ride an upright bicycle.
@Nudelsalatbomber Surecan you pedal it heats up. You could pre heat it with an electric heater insulate it. If you tried I amsure you could figure out a way to accomplish a heater even if you had to place wood gas stove inthe thing to heat a water bottle.
A very nice looking machine. One day when I have the money and storage space I may get something like this. I don't like cars but I also don't like getting wet.
tidalboreman said "fo that price i can buy an antique cadillac."
WTF are you smoking? If a Cadillac was on your shopping list of course you wouldn't consider a velomobile and visa vera. Cadillac is a problem. Go-One is a solution.
Mass production is a large word. A very small firm is making it. The demand is large and the guys who are making it can only produce as fast as their hands are able.
How can you say ... loosing weight, arriving at work without trafficjams, still be dry and have no fuelcosts. Truely ... if used on daily basis, a velomobile is a money-saver that keeps you in good shape.
Maybe the future is bright. Some firm found its way towards the low-cost-countries. It is selling its velomobile at a remarkable price. It is the Aerorider.
You can shift your bodyweight a bit inside the canopy. But ... it is not the same as on a bike. But ... because they are so low and the center of gravity is low too, they still can turn rather hard. Anyway ... tight turns are not ideal in this kind of vehicle.
In a race you would loose time on the turns, but ... on the straight lines you leave them all behind you! :D

Nudelsalatbomber 3 years ago 7
cabin heating? probably useless, aerodynamics always come with poor cabin ventilation and I would be more scared by excess heat even in winter!

@Nudelsalatbomber one you start biking it will... body heat! or just add a heater.
Soofmanchu 1 year ago
@Soofmanchu, well, the body heat last only as long as you keep "biking". once you stop for sleep, the inside will cool down.
