Things I was told and worked well: feel the song, pretend you are the character and express those feelings, try and look at the audience, take time and plan out any little tricks to play with tempo/dynamics/pausing/vocal tricks. I know it's tough with a guitar, but with practice, it might be doable. :)

I think we did a better job than I did here, though we did mess up at the start of the third verse. Also, it's called "My Eyes" instead of "On the Rise," because apparently that's how the song's referred to by it's creators.
