@VincentX202 I don't have Sata configuration in BIOS, but i used Registry to enable it, but i'm not sure if it's 100 enabled now, i didn't find those options in BIOS, i have HP Pavilion DV7-3197eo
@TheNewbpowner123 kinda, though it's not a problem really i've got 24gb left on it with w7, x64 and all my programs on it
my games are on a raid seperate from the OS so it doesn't fragment with time, pretty much ssds you get rid of stuff like defrag, indexing, pagefile because the drive does not need it
I bought one for my cheap Dell 1545... It's now the "apparently" fastest dell 1545 on Passmark... It's flawless. If you have a dell or any laptop. Kick your HDD in the butt and get an SSD. Standard Benchmark Disk results 410.5 for dell 1545 and a OCZ vertex 2 dell 1545 benchmark results1845.1
@aznpspgamer yeah set sata interface to AHCI from BIOS, updated firmware on it and updated chipset drivers
disable, indexing and auto defrag on the drive
if ur going to update the firmware make sure to read up OCZ forum for guides, because their latest firmware needs to be applied strictly as a secondary drive, in other words not from within the drive and running your OS, i think this only applies for their latest.
do a few writes then delete, re-boot and let it idle for a few minutes.
@VincentX202 I have a question about updating the firmware. I thought I read in the OCZ forum that the Vertex 2 and Agility's must be in SATA IDE mode, not AHCI, to update the firmware, which if true, sucks for me because my poor Dell does not have and IDE mode - only AHCI and RAID. Is this true?
just bought this did basically the same thing. im in love with this fucking drive its on newegg right now for 114$ but rebate takes it to 99$ totally worth it.
Try comparing uncompressed data speeds in XP. A Vertex 2 only can only copy and paste 200MB of data at 3.6MB per second on my ATOM test platform! Intel SSD's win here. A vertex 2 requires special partition alignment in XP. Intel SSD's win again! A vertex 2 is not plug and play under XP! Intel wins again! A vertex requires a lot of time and tweaks to get synthetic benchmarks that have no basis in the real world and Intel wins yet again! Most people use XP! Deal with it!

At first i was like why are you using mpc hc and videos for hardrive speed.. then oh shit thats fast. Im going to be getting the 60gb ocz vertex 2 E series soon cant wait to have fast boots on windows and even faster boots in backtrack
you should turn off Window Animations when your minimizing, and maximizing, it makes it look slow, and it's hard to see what the real time is for the window to maximize, it could take 0.1 Second to load the windows, but since you have Window animations turned on it takes like 2 seconds for that, so you cant even really tell how fast it's actually opening.
@VincentX202 it's still impressive, but opening several firefox windows still won't make any sense (in this demonstration). after the first firefox instance is loaded (into *RAM*), guess where the 2nd instance will be loaded from...
@gradinkov Well... see the point here wasn't to test RAM but overall program launching, the extra firefox instances loaded onto the memory like you state is only an added bonus to the whole performance testing...
and you might ask, why not just benchmark them? and see the real SSD vs HDD reads/write. Well because i think most ppl already know them, in my honest opinion, people just want to know how much faster their computer environment will be.
I have a Vertex 2 60 GB, ACHI and TRIM enabled on my PC, and while I got similar scores with you (CPU 7.6 Mem 7.8 VGA 7.9) I get "only" 7.3 score on Transfer rate. Any more tricks/ tweaks done in your system? Thanks and nice video and PC you got there
@ariskar yeah, make sure AHCI is properly enabled, also do not connect optical drives or burners on the same sata controller or else you wont see its entire performance
thats why ppl prefer usb/esata dc/dvd drives now
another thing to note is, update the firmware on it via OCZ site, let the drive run for a while after a few deletes, if you need more info about this SSD let me know
@VincentX202 Firstly thanks for the fast reply. I got intel ICH10r, i7 920@3.2, 6GB 1600MhzCL6 ram. my controller is intel ICH10r (x58 chipset) and my mainboard is Asus Rampage Gene. BIOS has 2 options "IDE" and "IDE+AHCI" while I have it on second option. The ssd came with the 1.11 firmware, same as the latest in OCZ website, so didn't bother updating.. It may be the other 2 SATA HDD I have connected interfering... If I am missing something please tell me. Thanks again!
@VincentX202 So are you saying to not "daisy chain" any devices on the cable with the SSD? Or that you should actually purchase a SATA PCIe card and install it to run your other SATA Optical drives?
So if I plug my SSD into the "#1" SATA plug on my motherboard and plug my DVD Drive into the "#2" SATA plug on the same motherboard, it will affect the performance?
@VincentX202 I just mean how the window isn't instantly open, I know it's not slow, it's an animation, I just think it makes it look slow, that's why I never use it, lol
you CAN disable JUST the animation of the windows minimizing, and maximizing, in the Control Panel.

How do i change Sata to ACHI in windows 7? In BIOS?
TheAslanDA 6 months ago
@TheAslanDA yes in the bios but you would have to re-install windows or use a registry edit in order for AHCI to be enabled correctly.
search youtube for windows 7 AHCI registry or something after you've done that, boot in your BIOS and set the Sata interface to AHCI
VincentX202 6 months ago

TheAslanDA 6 months ago
@TheAslanDA search the bios carefully
BIOS main menu screen --> Integrated Peripherals --> Onboard SATA Function
There are two possible settings: Compatible or Enhanced.
Compatible = IDE emulation mode
Enhanced = AHCI mode
it should be there somewhere if you're on a new intel chipset

@ldandco regardless, it is an application launch performance test
ram is tested differently, frame serving video, editing
