This is the original version, sung by Jimmy Harnen and Synch. Jimmy was from Northeastern Pa. and performed this song in the local clubs for years before it was finally discovered and released nationally, I think on Sony records if memory serves correct. I actually have an older version of the song on a 45 RPM record, which was released on a local label.

I heard this song on the radio a lot back in the 80s (I think Jimmy Harnen is from the Pennsylvania area where I lived so it got a lot of air play) and absolutely still love it. Found his album not long ago on Amazon and quickly bought it. It's a shame he didn't record more songs.

I first heard this song a week after my 20 year old daughter was killed in an auto accident. I finally had an outlet to cry when I hadn't been able to before. Today is the first time I listened to the song since 1989. No tears; just a sad, but sweet, remembering.

A beautiful song, the chord changes unusual, harmonies are an accent to the melody rather than background. The cartoon images remind me of what I was doing, how I was feeling with my first loves! Ah, memories.
