When the notes comes alive, you know the person can play :)
What's fun with blues and playing slow, is that when you begin, after a while when you've played, i dunno what to call it but for me, it feels like the demon inside me takes over, it feels like the ocean waves slaps on the beaches, with a storm in the background flashing with lightnings, and that you just wanna keep go and go and never stops, and suddenly, its midnight, and you're up late next morning :O.. Ops! Nice tone & note :)
@SGspecial84 The point is that I love music. Blues in particular and I love to try to get the best tone possible. That's what makes it fun. Does there have to be some deep mysterious point behind it? If you dont like it, that's fine....what is your point?
@skydog46 Not really. Sounds great its just a long video for noodling around. I built a deluxe reverb with a orange frame jbl. Its funny, only a les paul can push the amp and give the honk, and sustain that this tone has.
@SGspecial84 testing and show the combination of Les Paul & Deluxe Reverb? whats the point of your comment? i found very useful for compare the sound with my LP & My DR
@SGspecial84 I take it from your handle that you're a guitar player. I would think you'd be able to figure out ... all by yourself .. what the point of his video is.
i know yove got the d-120f in there, but i just got one, and i keep hearing crap about the polaritys being reversed on them. Are the Red and Black Backwords?
My favorite thing about youtube is how special needs people like neffrocks can post intelligent comments to be seen time and time again, reminding us all how important it is to pay more attention to the mentally challenged. They have something to say, too!
My favorite thing about youtube is how you can't express your opinion without being bashed for it. So sorry if you don't agree with me. Also, it's very classless to try to be humorous with your 'mentally challenged' comment.
he turned the camera 90 degrees and wore a disguise, the cheek monkey! i only recognised him cos of his vibrato. then saw his name. i'm not so smart anymore...
Dan! I've never seen this vid. I had no idea it was you. Very different sound outta u this time. I friggin love the tone! What camera and mic setup do u use? I need to make a ThroBak vid ASAP! thanks bud
Well, I often pull on glasses indoors... were I live its quite common to wear sunglasses all the time.... in our village... there´a small brewery and the brewer wears sunglasses all the time... so does our local hippie, , the reverend, my mum, the shopowner, the late shoplifter, the butcher, his wife and me... so you see in the village I live in nearly everybody has some sunglasses... notin special...
Goes to show that there's lots of really good guitar players out there who aren't making records. It's nice to hear stuff like this...just straight ahead jammin'. Sooooo cooooooool!!!!
i dig. Blues is cool, and essential, your sound is spectacular....work on some more outside genre stuff. Get all yer modes/inversions under your fingers, and learn some late 70's larry carlton solos, it'll have a positive impact on your expression and you'll sound alot less cliche.
This is the best tone I've heard so far on YouTube!! I guess it's time for a Fender amp for me (with my Gibson ES-335). I also like your Super reverb sound/vid! Difficult choice. Just a question. Is the Deluxe Reverb loud enough on stage? (of course you can mic the amp, but drummers are so loud sometimes...). Keep posting that great stuff!!!
I think for most of todays venues the DR is fine. If you're playing for more than 250 people however, the Super Reverb is the choice IMO. I play mostly small clubs...and even outdoors, the DR is plenty loud. I haven't had to mic it.
Thanks! I usually play for 1 (including myself) to about 100 people max, so I definitely go for the DR then! Can you only adjust the amount of overdrive by the DR volume? How do you arrange that on stage with your band members when you want to switch from a cleaner to a more crunchy sound? Increasing the volume is then not so much an option? Or are there other things you can do? How do you do this?
Freakin' great playing man. You gave me several licks I'm dying to work on. The first time I saw the Eagles, in 1978, Glen Felder was playing a Les through a miked Fender Reverb at the Cotton Bowl. He delivered the solo on "One of These Nights". Scorch!
Damn, I musta missed this one. Exceptional TONE as usual. Now, lemme see if I can borrow some of these licks :) Just got my 07 non-vos R8 in Iced Tea but haven't found that tone yet. Keep postn...
i defn like yer videos, man- great stuff. you obviously know your way around some les paul blues
i've been trying to replicate the tone from the original recording of the allman brothers' melissa for awhile. any suggestions as to what specific gear or effects i should go for??
pretty good tone, especially with the gain on the dual bends. even though im usually partial to the neck or mid of a strat. sounded kind of like Roy Buchanan in some parts. nice job man.
gorgeous tone.. thats what a les paul should sound like!! they sound great through my orange amp :) so does my strat though.. check out my videos... im only 15
i have a les paul and i noticed that it keeps sliping off your right knee that is a problem i find with the les paul but with my strat it sits ok , les paul is best played standing for comfort in my opinion.
Lovely Les Paul tone! I joined the 'tube just to comment on a couple of players here, skydog46 and goldtop88 (hey you guys should do a Peter Green dual). Man, I'm aching to find a Les Paul that sounds like yours. I'm really disappointed with what's up on the shelf. Is it me, or is it so hard to find a good one? I get tons of pleasure just listening to you do your thing on that thing. Keep on plucking!
