  • I hear alot of Duane/Dickey and Billy Gibbons in your work

  • also Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray towards the end, very nice dude

  • nice tone, thanks for posting

  • When the notes comes alive, you know the person can play :)

What's fun with blues and playing slow, is that when you begin, after a while when you've played, i dunno what to call it but for me, it feels like the demon inside me takes over, it feels like the ocean waves slaps on the beaches, with a storm in the background flashing with lightnings, and that you just wanna keep go and go and never stops, and suddenly, its midnight, and you're up late next morning :O.. Ops! Nice tone & note :)

  • OMG what is the point of this video??

  • @SGspecial84 The point is that I love music. Blues in particular and I love to try to get the best tone possible. That's what makes it fun. Does there have to be some deep mysterious point behind it? If you dont like it, that's fine....what is your point?

  • @skydog46 Not really. Sounds great its just a long video for noodling around. I built a deluxe reverb with a orange frame jbl. Its funny, only a les paul can push the amp and give the honk, and sustain that this tone has.

  • @SGspecial84 show tone of the combination Les Paul & Deluxe Reverb? what is the point of your comment?

  • @SGspecial84 testing and show the combination of Les Paul & Deluxe Reverb? whats the point of your comment? i found very useful for compare the sound with my LP & My DR

  • @SGspecial84 I take it from your handle that you're a guitar player. I would think you'd be able to figure out ... all by yourself .. what the point of his video is.

  • sounds good but i still prefer P90´s pickups.

  • tone beast........

  • sounds good, is it an old deluxe?

  • i know yove got the d-120f in there, but i just got one, and i keep hearing crap about the polaritys being reversed on them. Are the Red and Black Backwords?

  • @guns1rose Yes the red and black are reversed in JBL.

  • Thanks alot man. Great sounds coming from your fingers!

    thanks,

    Tyler

  • @guns1rose Thanks very much Tyler!!

  • beautiful tone and so much soul.

would love to have a jam some time!!

  • you are fuckin cool!

  • What amp are you using here?

  • REALLLY???

  • Yea really. What the fuck is your deal?

  • its the the video name mate.. =/. deluxe reverb (a fender amp)

  • well, by the title i would say hes using a DELUXE REVERB!

  • hotel california doesnt fit in... but great playin thorugh...of course some mistakes but who cares ;)

  • Wow man, i don't care what the one guy says about pentatonics. Pentatonics are amazing, and you play them with soul. way to go. Like the guitar too

  • Nice job, what year is the Paul?

  • probably 1957. Maybe a reissue?

  • soulful playing.and I have only 3 words for that gold top:FORREST RICHARD BETTS!

  • And yet you recognized them right off!! Incredible!

  • That doesn't even make sense.

  • yeah it makes sense and was funny as hell!!(LOL)

  • My favorite thing about youtube is how special needs people like neffrocks can post intelligent comments to be seen time and time again, reminding us all how important it is to pay more attention to the mentally challenged. They have something to say, too!

  • My favorite thing about youtube is how you can't express your opinion without being bashed for it. So sorry if you don't agree with me. Also, it's very classless to try to be humorous with your 'mentally challenged' comment.

  • Comment removed

  • he turned the camera 90 degrees and wore a disguise, the cheek monkey! i only recognised him cos of his vibrato. then saw his name. i'm not so smart anymore...

great guitar and tone as always, Dogboy!

  • Dan! I've never seen this vid. I had no idea it was you. Very different sound outta u this time. I friggin love the tone! What camera and mic setup do u use? I need to make a ThroBak vid ASAP! thanks bud

    Esmin

  • Great tone, what kind of speaker is in your DR? Also is this recorded through your camera mic?

    Thanks

  • JBL. Yes, through the camera mic. Thank you!!!!

  • dude....talk about mojo!

  • Right on dude!!!

  • Wonderful tone. Ever tried the solo for 'make it wit chu" by queens of the stoneage? this setup is perfect for it!

  • Needs more sunglasses.

  • That's beautiful, man. Awesome sound and playing.

  • Thank you very much!!!

  • Vintage or RI?

  • Vintage!

  • What EXACTLY are you using to record? Doc

  • You're just simply amazing, man...

  • Stop it....lol!! Seriously...thank you!!

  • A lot of people on youtube think that if they spend 5 grand on a Les Paul and buy a DR they can just play a minor pentatonic real slow and be good.

You are not one of these people, you're a great player!

    keep it up man.

  • seriously. I know you wanted to look cool for youtube, but those glasses indoors are to fucking much.

  • Its my DB Cooper look..

  • Well, I often pull on glasses indoors... were I live its quite common to wear sunglasses all the time.... in our village... there´a small brewery and the brewer wears sunglasses all the time... so does our local hippie, , the reverend, my mum, the shopowner, the late shoplifter, the butcher, his wife and me... so you see in the village I live in nearly everybody has some sunglasses... notin special...

This jam is one of my favorite...

  • Now that's tone. Well done!

  • GO CARDS!!!!!!

    ...oh, awesome playing too!

  • jesus, everyone on youtube can play better than me. shit

  • I share you're pain.

  • sweet tone!

  • hey man,beautiful tone!!!!I love it..have u tried singlecoils??

  • cool shades

  • THATS MY GUITAR!!!!!!!

  • awesome.. GO CARDS!

  • what happened to hideaway at the end? i was really groovin on that freddie king tone.

  • awesome.. GO CARDS!

  • i mean never cease to amaze me haha sorry

  • you never seem to amaze me when you got just what i'm looking for... amp, guitar, feeling, playing, and tone

  • great tone and feeling

  • great tone and feeling

  • I'd like a guitar like that, but i'd be afraid that I'd shoot my pants every time i put it on my lap rofl :0

  • Goes to show that there's lots of really good guitar players out there who aren't making records. It's nice to hear stuff like this...just straight ahead jammin'. Sooooo cooooooool!!!!

  • sweet gold top

  • Im feeling like going and listening to Mike Bloomfield for a bit.

I heard some tone ueminessant of super session. Nice playing.

  • pride and joy ftw!!!

Now to decide if i want a PRS or LP....hrmmm

  • Great Tone and some sweet licks... What kind of pickups and amp are you using..?

    Kudos from Vancouver Canada

    Christopher

  • At what level was the amp's volume set? Sounds great, I just want to know how loud you had to get to sound like that.

  • I just ruined a good pair of pants :o

    That tone is SICK

  • Great tone! Great efective playing!!

  • i dig. Blues is cool, and essential, your sound is spectacular....work on some more outside genre stuff. Get all yer modes/inversions under your fingers, and learn some late 70's larry carlton solos, it'll have a positive impact on your expression and you'll sound alot less cliche.

  • I like sounding cliché. I don't dig LC. Sorry...that's not my bag.

  • Sweet jams dude. What's the song your playin after 7:00?

  • OK, you're in the band. Everyone helps set up and tear down and we split the cash evenly 4 ways.

  • When's the next gig???

  • We hit the road Dec. 1st. Don't bring the girlfiend. We'll get some of those where ever....

  • This is the best tone I've heard so far on YouTube!! I guess it's time for a Fender amp for me (with my Gibson ES-335). I also like your Super reverb sound/vid! Difficult choice. Just a question. Is the Deluxe Reverb loud enough on stage? (of course you can mic the amp, but drummers are so loud sometimes...). Keep posting that great stuff!!!

  • I think for most of todays venues the DR is fine. If you're playing for more than 250 people however, the Super Reverb is the choice IMO. I play mostly small clubs...and even outdoors, the DR is plenty loud. I haven't had to mic it.

  • Thanks! I usually play for 1 (including myself) to about 100 people max, so I definitely go for the DR then! Can you only adjust the amount of overdrive by the DR volume? How do you arrange that on stage with your band members when you want to switch from a cleaner to a more crunchy sound? Increasing the volume is then not so much an option? Or are there other things you can do? How do you do this?

  • thats the same shit over and over

  • Why thank you!!

  • hes a beast shutup

  • What pickups do you have?

  • Dan,Dan,the Cardinal-Lovin-Bluesman, IMO this combination has the best tone of all of your postings! Keep them coming.

  • are u playing in A minor?

  • Freakin' great playing man. You gave me several licks I'm dying to work on. The first time I saw the Eagles, in 1978, Glen Felder was playing a Les through a miked Fender Reverb at the Cotton Bowl. He delivered the solo on "One of These Nights". Scorch!

  • nice guitar and awsome playing

  • Damn, I musta missed this one. Exceptional TONE as usual. Now, lemme see if I can borrow some of these licks :) Just got my 07 non-vos R8 in Iced Tea but haven't found that tone yet. Keep postn...

  • It's there...you just have to find it!!! Thank you. Borrow anything you like!!

  • Great sound dude!

  • question for skydog46

i defn like yer videos, man- great stuff. you obviously know your way around some les paul blues

i've been trying to replicate the tone from the original recording of the allman brothers' melissa for awhile. any suggestions as to what specific gear or effects i should go for??

  • Using any pedals, or is the amp cranked? Sounds great!

  • No pedals.

  • now thats what a lp is made to sound like!

beautiful goldtop. wow amazing. beautifully aged color. mmmm

    nice playing

  • pretty good tone, especially with the gain on the dual bends. even though im usually partial to the neck or mid of a strat. sounded kind of like Roy Buchanan in some parts. nice job man.

  • Pretty good huh? Thanks man!

  • Sweet video!

I'm currently saving up for a '73 kalamazoo gold top deluxe even though it's pretty bashed up because the sound it makes is just amazing.

  • beutiful tone!!!!!

  • What year is this guitar?

  • 1954 routed for humbuckers. On Ebay now.

  • is that a reissue deluxe or ? sounds good

  • What song is it that you start playing around the 7:00 minute mark? Sounds funky. Or is it improv?

  • gorgeous tone.. thats what a les paul should sound like!! they sound great through my orange amp :) so does my strat though.. check out my videos... im only 15

  • u got the blues

  • i have a les paul and i noticed that it keeps sliping off your right knee that is a problem i find with the les paul but with my strat it sits ok , les paul is best played standing for comfort in my opinion.

  • Are those stock pickups or if not what models are they? I like your tone.

  • Thanks very much for listening!!

  • BTW skydog, I listened to your other vid with the '02 model you have, no where near the mojo this baby has.

How do I rate this video?

  • Lovely Les Paul tone! I joined the 'tube just to comment on a couple of players here, skydog46 and goldtop88 (hey you guys should do a Peter Green dual). Man, I'm aching to find a Les Paul that sounds like yours. I'm really disappointed with what's up on the shelf. Is it me, or is it so hard to find a good one? I get tons of pleasure just listening to you do your thing on that thing. Keep on plucking!
