If you're talking about his vocals in general (in Miseration) then I guess I do agree. Although, again, it's death metal with SOME melodic elements, which doesn't necessarily beg for the inclusion of clean vocals.

@wushupants his vocals are amazing, and i suppose i dont go as heavy as most people that listen to death metal. all of my music that is labeled death metal has progressive elements or melodic elements, keyboards, or some instrument usually not included. My favorite of Scar Symmetry was Holographic Universe which some people consider too melodic. But i do agree, no matter what he is unmatched in every way of his singing.

No,Scar Symmetry is crap because they are hardly even a death metal band at all. nearly ever part of their musicianship is borderline prog metal, plus the fact on most of their later stuff cleans are nearly,if not more prominent than the growls are. Its hard to even consider them death metal,they just sound like a mess.

Take something like Solution .45. heavy riffs, a few melodic soft parts but not overdone,cleans compliment the growls.

@Omgffsmf When I said cleans=/=Melodic death metal I meant in in the sense that they aren't what makes Melodic Death metal what it is. Early In Flames and At The Gates were some of the founders of Melodic Death metal and used no cleans.

Scar Symmetry was the best band for Christian to be in, we all can probably agree to this. However, dissing Scar Symmetry for their less usage of growls is plain stupid. Instrumentally, Scar Symmetry is much better than Solution .45 for the reasons that they don't abuse the the low B string on the guitar, but instead use the whole guitar fretboard.

Its because their basically playing prog metal with a few growls thrown in. The music doesn't even feel like melodeath.

I tried to get into them, I went out and bought Holographic Universe,the only good song was Morphogenesis,the rest just all sounded the same. I tried again with Dark Matter Dimensions. I liked maybe 3 or so songs,same problem as with Holographic Universe. Borrowed unseen empire from a friend and it was the worst of the 3, not a single good song.
