  • Anyone interested in hearing Ashkenazy's performance of this on cd should get the Vienna Philharmonic performance with Zubin Mehta from 1983. From what I have heard it's Ashkenazy's best performance of it.

  • It's lovely to see Ashkenazy in his prime. Meticulous preparation by him and very sympathetic conducting from Haitink. After many years of listening to music, I can now re-evaluate. Ashkenazy's trills are wonderfully measured and everything about his playing is so under control. And that is also a problem now for me. May be he was nervous and fought nervousness by keeping focused. But some spontaneity is lost. Yet plenty still subsists and there's much to enjoy.

  • 素晴らしい演奏だと思います。

  • Which orchestra is playing?

  • @ALBIBISBIS It's London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Bernard Haitink

  • He looks much younger than his 37 here.

Oh, he looks like a shaggy and mad genius or professor! I love his hairstyle - in Russia we call it 'Macaroni factory exploding'!

Those two woodwind @ 6:06-6:12 have purely 1970s Londonish aristocratic hairstyle, like those men from Monthy Python...

  • I cut it because the whole movement was 17 min and I didn't want to cut his playing on two.I know that is little bit stupid.Sorry

  • @filippeo85 You should upload it again in the complete form.

  • thanks but why not the whole performance?? did you cut the orchestra expo? or do you not have it?

  • This is wonderful. Thank you for sharing this.
