I am currently writing a graduate thesis in a masters program on U.S. foreign policy during the Soveit-Afghan War and one of my chapters surrounds Wilson's influence and political battles to get the Oerlikons....long before (relatively speaking) the Stingers. Thanks again!!!
@FindaWay2RiseUp I do agree with you and wish you luck on your endeavor...I really think that Charlie is a "Patriot" and loves this country. The only issue I have is his opinion on the "Iraq War", in the past he's stated that "inhumane dealings from the (Evil-Empire are just that (inhumane)" I look at what the Iraq Leadership and torture, should follow his opinion in that category?. It's just a question? and I realize we can't police the world. The footage of torture makes me sick!
@MrDurcon so what if he did? it was worth it to help bring down the soviets, and that jihad you seem to think is the same one from the 80's has evolved quite a bit in the last 30-some years. nice try, smart boy.
@MrDurcon excuse me, but i lived in Saudi and the UAE for 5 years, and the jihad in the 80's is different from jihad now, especially al-Qaeda. our supply of the mujahadeen in 80's is not the reason for the jihad against the USA: bin Laden's ultimatum to the Saudi royal family and the USA against foreign troops in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and the subsequent construction of KKMC is what got this current war started. NOT the Soviet involvement in Afghanistan.
@goYankees19 Its the same war, Muslims have been doing it since the beginning of the sick religion. I understand there intolerant, kinda strange tho, that KKMC was finished in 1980. I understand about Bin Laden wanting to drive out Sadam out of Kuwait, instead of us. Your wrong if you think it is some kind of different Jihad. That's just really my point the Jihad is always the same.
@MrDurcon And I'm telling you that you're still wrong. KKMC didn't get finished until well after the '91 war (some would say it still isn't finished now), and it is a different jihad because bin Laden (and al-Zawahiri and his Egyptian posse) took it upon themselves to make war against the "great satan" (USA) after they had defeated the Soviet Union, which they referred to as the "lesser satan" in 1996 after the Khobar Towers bombing. in the Koran, jihad changes when the enemy changes. QED
@goYankees19 So let me ask you this. Pakistani, India, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, Europe, Russia, Turkey, Lebanon, East Timor, Indonesia, Somali, Dar fur, and the United States is what? Look I don't think your a dump person, tell me what all of these people getting killed means? Personally I think its a global Caliphate here. I could be wrong here.
@MrDurcon The goal is to reestablish the caliphate, that is correct. But that didn't become their goal until 1994. also, the entire Islamic world is not in on this. Most muslims don't promote jihad of the sword as vehemently as these radicals do. In the 80's, their goal was to defeat the oppressors of Islam, and their biggest target was the Soviets in Afghanistan. back then, global jihad was not part of the plan because radical islam hadn't gotten there yet.
@goYankees19 Ok good, you totally understand, however why did our the U.S. Marines called leathernecks? This Caliphate has been gong on for years. I think where on the same page, I just understood your point wrong, My apology to you.
@MrDurcon Apology accepted, I'm sorry for being stand-offish to you. Marines are called leathernecks because they used to wear a leather collar around their necks during the 1700's and 1800's to protect themselves from neck wounds. This was back when they were just the Navy's private army (they're a lot more than that now), and they were the ones that boarded enemy ships. This is also the origin of the USMC expression "Hell-bent for leather."
@goYankees19 They where called leather necks, cause they would take leather and wrap it around there necks. Why because they did not want the Muslims to chop off there head. O ya thanks for your kind words you posted on my sight.
@MrDurcon dude, no...the marines wrapped leather around their necks to protect themselves during the 1700's and 1800's. they don't do that anymore, but the nickname "leatherneck" stuck regardless.
Thanks for posting this video..........so much!!
