The Japanese usually pronounce a name or word by the language of where it came from or by the Kanji characters. Like how Germany's name in Japanese is "Doitsu," because in German it's "Deutsch," and how South Korea's name is "Kankoku," because "韓国" is read differently in Kanji.

Saying "Ludwig" in German is not the same as saying it in a General American accent. Check Google Translate for the German (actual) pronunciation.

Really? I've met many guys called Tino. I even had one in my class way back in first grade or something. And they were Finnish, I assure you.

Though you are right that it IS a pretty uncommon name; apparently there are only 1955 men called Tino in Finland.

And as for it being a strange choice, well, true enough. Though his name isn't the only one that could have easily been replaced with something more fitting. But as you said, it's just good fun. Problems arise when it's taken too seriously.
