You must understand also sir, that SEAL doctrine relies on getting in, getting it done, and getting out. In that time, SEALs shoot lots of rounds because they dont expect to be there long. Iraq is different, you know this, and SEAL doctrine hasn't changed to compensate for this.

I read a story of SEALs in Vietnam shooting a VC scout 500+ times as he emerged from a tree line. Every man in the platoon shot at least two mags into this poor asshole and the M63 gunners emptied whole belts.

In normal urban combat u may be right,but there time such as a hosage rescue the MP5's 9mm is better because it won't punch through a target or a wall and kill a hostage in the next room or behind the target accidently.Plus SEALs(shown here) have access to ammo not given to must other people for instance because ur fighting terrorists they do not need to follow the geneva convetion in terms of ammo,in other SEALs especialy at SIX have been known to use hollow points.

Technically yes. The .223 caliber used in the M-16 is almost the same diameter as a .22 but much longer and heavier. However, if you are referring to the light popping done by one of the SEALs its due to his silencer attacted to his M4. The silencer will cancel the gas burst but not the sound barrier being broken by the supersonic round. If he used subsonics you wouldn't hear anything but the rifle wont cycle either due to low gas and recoil.
