They are absolutely fantastic! I want to get them up to the Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts in Unity, Maine. It's one of the most fantastic places to play around!
I actually saw these guys a few nights ago at a festival and let me tell you, they put on a fucking amazing show. I can hardly believe they got so much better in only a year!
All they are doing is impressing people by amount of difference instruments. I've seen better Jazz shows from local bands that can play their instruments wayyyyy better. Their solos were weak and the rest of it was repetitive as hell not that great. Then again I grew up seeing hardcore jazz musicians so maybe I'm just bias.
Its not about notes its about energy, and its about making a statement. Try dancing to a pat metheny tune. He may be able to play a million notes a second but who wants to dance to that??? no one. This is one of the best bands i have heard in 2009. So take your notes, your solos and your bad vibes and listen to your incredible elevator jazz music elsewhere.
thanks for the productive criticism necromx! the specificity of your comments really gives me a lot to work with in the practice room, as well as filling me with a general feeling of
positivity. By the way, this is not a jazz show, nor is it in any way meant to be experienced as such. Repetition is a perfectly valid musical device that many jazz musicians have historically utilized, like Pharoah Sanders, or Coltrane, not to mention almost all groove based music, as well as minimalism. love, adam
Yes I know what you mean about repetition and I know it's a valid musical device most songs are just a bunch of repetitive parts in a certain order. I just felt it was lacking something. You guys aren't bad just isn't my thing :) Or who knows maybe the quality of YouTube is taking away from it.
no worries. it's not for everyone. you should come check us out live though sometime if we're in your area, if you've never seen us before. it's way better than this video shows. this performance is actually a recording of the very first time we ever played this song, and I'll be the first to admit we don't sound too hot here. peace.
overall sweet i was baked when i watched this and i started boppin my head immediately

Hey I'm not being mean I'm just saying it isn't my thing and why. It's definitely an interesting concept.
And old jazz isn't elevator music.
